A big homestand upcoming for the Knicks, Lakers, Heat, Clippers, Sixers all at home, if they can go 2-2 that would be fantastic. Just have to tread water during this tough stretch.
Trade deadline is next week and based on reports the most active talks are with Milwaukee surrounding Reddish and Grayson Allen.
I think the main objective for the Knicks is to get a wing defender who can shoot to come off the bench..
I think if they can do that with Quickley coming off the bench, the bench unit can become a strength again.
I like Mcbride but his inability to be a catch and shoot player is hurting them..
Quickley needs to be in the finishing group regardless, Grimes or Rj can be in based on how they are playing and situation.
Should be a fun week and hopefully we get some rumors
1. Kyle Kuzma: 0.667
2. O.G. Anunoby: 0.708
3. Evan Mobley: 0.750
4. R.J. Barrett: 0.787
5. Julius Randle: 0.792
You’re not trading for OG Anunoby for his pull-ups and iso scoring prowess

Does Thibs know that?

Seems like he’d fit right in here
Siakam, VanVleet, Anunoby, Trent Jr, Barnes.....all good ballplayers.

I think they have to many mouths to feed and guys arent willing to take a lesser role or effect the game in another way..
Barnes and Siakim are clearly their top 2 players at least according to the organization and everything runs through them. They also occupy the same space, even with Siakim able to step out and hit a 3..
FVV has struggled with his shot (except when he plays the Knicks) and he is not really a distributor so he is looking for his shot more. So now thats 3 guys who look for their shot..
Trent Jr i think is 1 of the guys who actually accepts a lesser role, he is a good defender, who can shoot the 3 and play off the ball..
OG i think can be an offf the ball player, his value is obviously his defense but again he is the 4th maybe 5th option on the team so is he really being used properly?
They have no size, their bench is lacking and Nurse is like Thibs, plays his starters big minutes and really doesnt adjust much

Apparently, there are major chemistry problems (including the fact a few guys feel underpaid by the Raptors, FVV for one) Barnes has also regressed and there is a "feeling" there is pretty major regret they didn't pull the trigger on the Nets/Durant ask.
Flip side is that many teams are reportedly interested for those very same reasons.
The more Dukies, the better :P
I think for it to work with this current roster, Rj is going to have to take a step back and Thibs is going to have to be versatile with his wings..
If you trade Obi in the deal, i dont want to see Hart and Sims off the bench, i want OG playing the backup 4..
I want to see lineups with Randle at the 5 next OG, Rj , Quick or Grimes and Brunson..

Basketball Reference’s site doesn’t show him having any games at PF, and while I’m sure Toronto has gone small at times I’d be a little concerned trading Obi and not having a legitimate PF in case Randle were to get injured

and i want to see how it works with him for the rest of the season, BUT i do think this will lead to another trade in the offseason..

The backup PF position is basically 10 to 15 minutes a night, OG is big enough to play the backup 4 with the bench..
The thing with Toronto is they are the definition of positionless basketball, Siakim is their stsrting center..
the same issues fans have with Nurse are the same with Thibs, over plays his starters and not a lot of adjustments
I hope they move on from Ujiri and we hire him to replace Leon. Ah, wishful thinking.
I could see the Suns offering up 3 unprotected 1sts

Their new owner reportedly has told their FO they have his full support if they choose to be ultra aggressive.
ALthough trading firsts in the nba is starting to feel like the initial talk on an NFL contract. You hear these crazy NFL contracts and then the guaranteed money/structure isnt that bad. In the NBA you can get 3 firsts but with the protections these days that might not be shit. I mean do the knicks trade the Raptors the Bucks pick, another pick and one of their own with top 25 protections? Well thats not that bad, ha. ANd im not saying TOR does that, just saying we see these deals where a team gives up a first and its like "OVERPAY!" then you see its top 25 protected, then top 20 protected, then top 18 protected, then it turns into some second round pick, ha.
Rumor is that Cam would be in the deal
You never know in the NBA and things change quickly, but who is the next possible star to become available via trade?
Lillard, KAT...maybe Lamelo Ball or Trae Young? I really don't see a likely target for the Knicks unless maybe Anthony Davis is moved.

That doesn’t address my point about if Randle were to be injured

Trading for OG does not stop them from trading for a star
I guess it would free up RJ for a summertime trade? But it doesn't make the roster make a lot of sense now.
That would be awesome. Big fan of Bey since college
I like Mcbride but i think he is the main rotstion guy that needs to be upgraded..
His inability to hit the catch and shoot 3 has killed them in games, especially with how good Quickley is getting into the paint
OG is not adding a win to this current team, I hope they walk away from this.
I can't see giving 2 unprotected for OG.

I wouldnt do it but hes going to go for 3 1sts, 1 unprotected, 1 lightly protected and than 1 lottery portected more than likely..
The position he plays is highly coveted

It sure seems like superstar players moved around a lot more often when the Knicks had no cap space/tradable assets and flexibility.
Where is that top 15 player who is growing angrier and angrier with his current digs and wants MSG. Where you at.

To quote Joe Schoen, don't shop hungry. Hopefully they don't force something big at the deadline just because we're all hungry for a big improvement.
Sure. He's still very young. Right now, though, he doesn't belong in the NBA.

something but right now he's a liability. I'd rather they dust off Fournier or Rose when they need bench minutes.

His biggest problem i think is he has no idea how to play off the ball, in college and even when he goes down to the G league, he is the best player on the court, he always had the ball and cna be agressive scoring..
With the Knicks he is off the ball player, gets a couple of shots and thats it and he struggles doing that

The Toronto Raptors would like to get off of OG Anunoby’s contract before they have to pay him after next season, per @Gambo987

I remember Ball saying a couple of months back that he couldn't even walk up stairs without feeling pain. Good God.
