NFT: Yellowstone/1923 (some spoilers)

Stu11 : 1/30/2023 1:00 pm
So I had a rough fall with my Mom suddenly getting sick and eventually passing. Also My sports teams (Giants/Devils/Knicks) have been eminently watchable compared to recent times so I just caught up on season 5 of Yellowstone and streamed the first few eps of 1923 last night. Wow loving 1923! Obviously the casting is great. I mean Harrison Ford with his gravely voice was meant to play a Dutton. Helen Miren like Beth in Yellowstone is a bit over the top, but you still have to love her delivery. Definitely into that one. I never watched 1883. Not sure if I will. I pay for too many streaming services as is. My kids told me about this pirate site that has literally everything on it. Thats how I'm watching 1923. I'll probably watch Tulsa KIng too. that looks good.

Season 5 of Yellowstone is fine. Love that they brought Jimmy back in the mid season finale. Obviously 6666 will play a bigger role going fwd as I'm sure that area is where they're bringing the cattle. Shocked That Beth never knew about "the railroad station". You'd think we're heading towards either the death of Jamie or Beth.
One beef- How in the hell can you call it a "mid season finale" and then not come back till this summer? That's not mid season, that's season 6.
is there a return date for Yellowstone?

hate these long breaks.

PS Tulsa King is great. Cheesy at times but a fun watch
I enjoyed Tulsa King
Jim in Forest Hills : 1/30/2023 1:05 pm : link
but I think they missed the landing on the finale. A bit abrupt imo.

I think 1883 is terrific and worth a watch. Enjoying 1923 as well.
Have liked Tulsa King,
Beezer : 1/30/2023 1:12 pm : link
but you do have to be forgiving. At least there are moment where Stallone lets you know he's not taking this too seriously, either.

1923 is terrific. 1883 is good and I know the young daughter is the focus, but ... she's a bit annoying, and frankly, a shitty, selfish person at times. Eh, then again, she's a teen-ager. lol

Anyone catch the 1883 cameo (couple episodes early) by the chick who plays the skanky attorney who's manipulating Jamie is Yellowstone?
would you watch 1883 prior to 1923

or does it matter?
I'm into all of the Taylor Sheridan shows

I think Tulsa King was the worst of the four, although I wouldn't say it was bad or that I wasted my time watching it. The ending was really bad and, as said above, there were points that seemed like Stallone mailed it in.

I loved 1883 and also love 1923. I'll probably re-watch 1923 this week before they release the next episode on Sunday.

I also binged Mayor of Kingstown a few weeks ago and I'm completely hooked on that as well. It has the most action of the four Taylor Sheridan series.

I would start with 1883, but it's not a necessity. You'll just be confused on how the characters relate back to the settlers.

We've been watching them concurrently. It can be a little confusing at times to remember which you're looking at lol, but it's fun trying to figure out, OK who might THAT be to John Dutton, etc.

Doesn’t really matter but you might as well start with the origin story of the Duttons (1883).
So getting things straight
Stu11 : 1/30/2023 1:51 pm : link
I guess The Dutton son Jack hunting in Africa in 1923 would be John Dutton's dad?

The one in Africa is Spencer who is not the father to any of the current Duttons. Jack is the young one back at the ranch with the fiancée.
What’s the name of……

Ahhh ok thanks. I thought I heard someone in Africa call him Jack
Paramount+ is like $6

there’s no reason to pirate.
And 6666
UConn4523 : 1/30/2023 2:14 pm : link
is the next show in the Yellowstone IP.
Really loving

1923. Haven't watched 1883 yet, but will catch up on that while 1923 is dropping new 'sodes.

But yeah, 1923 is really good.

Another show I've just started watching is Your Honor on Showtime.

Really, really good. Bryan Cranston doing it again.
1883 is one of my favorite single seasons of TV
UConn4523 : 1/30/2023 3:52 pm : link
in quite a while. Isabel May has a very bright future ahead of her and Tim McGraw was awesome.

I didn’t care for Your Honor. Season 1 starts to turn into a cartoon about half way through.
Mayor of Kingston
Ceez2.0 : 1/30/2023 4:23 pm : link
is really good.
Love all the Sheridan shows.
Tim in Eternal Blue : 1/30/2023 4:53 pm : link

Been a big fan of Tulsa king. The season 1 finale was pretty weak though. And I’m sure he’s out of jail in Season 2 Ep1.

Mayor of Kingston is great except I wish we got more of Kyle Chandler. Love that dude as an actor.

For those confused about 1923 Yellowstone lineage .., Jack is John Dutton’s grandfather.
The one problem I have with 1923
Stu11 : 1/31/2023 8:26 am : link
is the sheer brutality of the scenes with the Native American girls and the nuns. I'm fine with violence in these shows, it comes baked in but I think those scenes are just a little too much to take. I don't doubt their veracity and accuracy, it's just hard to see.
1883
jestersdead : 1/31/2023 10:09 am : link
is the best story telling of all. Yes, it has some action but you really get to feel the struggle of the voyage as the character goes through it.

Im optimistic for the 6666 ranch spin off.

Back to Yellowstone season 5, Beth for being so business savvy really does some dumb sh*t. Jamie loves being the pawn for others and it always comes back and bites him in the ass. Looking forward to the confrontation he will have will John about the role he plays in the family. Will the female lawyer use the "train station" as leverage vs the Dutton's?

The commercial for the reality show The Farmer Wants A Wife and you see guys riding horses. I tell my wife, is Taylor Sheridan producing this also. LOL.
love all his shows. Just caught up with mayor of kings town. Really good show. I don’t know if Renners accident prevents them from having a third season. ( assuming that they planned on having a third season).
