he's a good kid and would have had a decent shot at playing in the super bowl if he didn't get hurt. The 49ers really didn't lose that game, they just ran out of quarterbacks.
The NFL needs to do something about having just 2 QBs dressed. That fucked SF yesterday.
It's called having your offensive guru come up with a better gameplan than running striaght drop back passes against an incredible DL. I couldn't believe how fuckij dumb Shanahan looked yesterday. I expected WR screens, jet sweeps, quick passes, screens, etc. We basically saw none of that.
I believe there was talk that G could be available in the playoffs. It might have been smoke, but I coulda sworn Shanahan said something to that effect.

When did the NFL get rid of the 3rd QB rule? I only remember them instituting it but haven't seen it in awhile. Not sure why they would have gotten rid of it.
the teams should have 60 players active for games. 53 is asinine. With offensive line injuries etc. Greedy bastards and it can hurt the game.
I agree, although it would mean that the owners give more of the money to the players right off the top. The cap (and by extension, the money that goes to the players in aggregate) is a percentage of league revenue, and if you were to expand the rosters, it would mean that either each player takes X% less on average, in order to cram in more players; or, that the owners simply allow for a greater percentage of league revenue to fund the salary cap.
The NFLPA won't go for the first scenario at all. The owners might be willing to bargain for the latter scenario, though - this is probably where the the league would add the 18th regular season game to increase revenues to fund larger rosters.

Have the PS players dress and be exempt from additional pay unless they entered the game. I m sure they could come up with something.

Shanahan seemed optimistic for the JimG's availability for the Super Bowl.
With a 17 game schedule players pulled at the hint of a concussion and the NFL keeps talking about player safety but they still won't let a team dress all 53 players on the roster. It really makes no sense.

I think rosters should be expanded. With that said, not dressing all 53 isn't the issue for injuries. They want an even playing field as there will always be people injured. They don't want one team with 53 players and another with 46.
looks like he's going to be back in the pole position if Purdy is out for six months.
Lance should definitely get another shot. He was supposed to be a project who needed an xtra yr to develop. Possibility another yr watch and learning could’ve be helpful to him. Not saying he is gonna be great, he didn’t look good at all in two games. But has tools to start the season and see what happens.
how many championship games Niners have played in last 12 years and have nothing to show for it under Harbaugh and Shanahan. Except for a brief rebuild, multiple SB losses, and I believe quadruple NFCC losses.

It's also a money issue - Owners would have to pay more for players to be on active rosters. And well, we know how much owners hate to pay player salaries...
With this news, I would expect those Brady-to-SF rumors
It'd be a fitting end for TB12's career to end with him as QB on a 49ers winning Super Bowl team. He grew up in NoCal.
Yep. It probably made sense even before the Purdy injury.
Obviously, that team is LOADED, and primed to make another deep run next year. Much like Peyton in Denver, Brady would need to just be a good game manager for SF - he can throw the ball short/mid range to Kittle, Aiyuk and Samuel and let them do their thing. And/or hand the ball off to CMC (and Samuel) and let them to theirs.

When they raised the dressing limit from 45+emergency QB to 48.
and his 17 game seasons. 3 out of 4 QBs were injured or recently injured and Burrow had a MASH unit oline. Hell and Mike Williams injured himself in the 17th game.
Especially when the backup is no longer competent.

They should go back to letting the 3rd QBs dress but only be active if the first two get injured.

I'm curious, did they even have a 3rd QB? I really don't know how much can be done. There are only so many NFL quality QBs.
That interesting. Was he close?
What screwed SF was a horrible blocking scheme leaving a TE to block Reddick without help.
53 don't dress.

Who would have been their third QB? Garapollo wasn't ready. You're going to sign a guy off the street?

It would have been McCaffrey running the wildcat.

Bummer for them, I guess

Its different than for baseball. Depends on if he needs a repair for full reconstruction.
Often they throw harder.

The love for that guy is out of control. I don't know why anyone would want him as a starter for their team. He's like a cat with 9 lives.
This Super Bowl is fake and deserves an *
