MarshallOnMontana was my favorite poster. He was kind of like Go Terps before he was here.
Wealth of basketball knowledge, and I always chuckled everytime he dropped the word "dwarfage". But like Terps, ultimately he took one too many stands where he didn't want to back down drom and figured it wasn't worth the hassle anymore.
and gushed over how much his movies grossed? I found those threads to be hilarious because the languages he used was like he was describing LeBron on the court.
RE: Cam Newton turning out to be not all that great
Was when he insisted that the only reason why anyone would prefer hockey to basketball was racism.
He actually posted a lot of good stuff with his "around the NFL" type posts that provided quality info on other teams, particularly from other divisions that we didn't discuss much. But, when he was stupid, he was pedal-to-the-metal 200 MPH stupid.
RE: RE: Cam Newton turning out to be not all that great
Payton throws a back-breaking INT in a playoff game = Payton chokes in a big spot once again.
Favre throws a back-breaking INT in a playoff game = Favre merely made an "aggressive decision."
Lol. He reminds me of a guy I went to college with who would only describe athletes by their athletic prowess and features. Guys who didn’t have some crazy physique or standout physical attribute were definitely not as good even if they were.
Joey Nickels was one of those posters that would drive so much traffic onto certain threads. Kind of like Go Terps as someone mentioned above, although different styles for sure. One of my favorite posters ever on this site.

Joey & Terps are missed massively. Drove good discussion. Hope they return one day.
to his grave convinced that Samuel dropped an "easy" INT that would have ended the SB. He's sounded upset through the years that a guy who barely touched a ball should have picked it off 9 out of 10 times and we just happened to luck out on that 10% miniscule chance.
Such a terrible take and he's still convinced it is true!
He also got very mad whenever anyone would point out
Smart guy and a good poster, but like others said, he'd take these positions on random things and triple down on them to the point where it would get insane.
I remember this one well. Joe would drive me nuts at times. But the forum and the discourse was at its best in these days. We've lost too many interesting posters
Odd.. I remember loving Joe as a poster but I went at him pretty good

Same here. I'd welcome them back with open arms...virtually of course.
RE: RE: Cam Newton turning out to be not all that great
“Doing things we’ve never seen before” was him, right? My memory sucks when it comes to who said what on this site.
Yep that's the guy.
He tried too hard to bait people into arguments for my taste. I remember he had moved on to trying to get people to argue with him about Andrew Wiggins. No one cared enough to respond and he left soon after.

Yep. I hated hockey because too many white dudes play it and since they are white, they aren’t the best athletes in the world and he only watches sports with the best athletes in the world, lol

Were they interesting or were they court jesters due to self-esteem issues?

He'd also rattle on about "hockey players only come from a handful of countries but basketball players come from everywhere, therefore the talent level in the NBA is so much higher than the NHL".
Which conveniently elides the fact that the NBA talent pool is almost exclusively populated by men much taller than average, and thus is much smaller than the potential pool of hockey players.

Sigh, didn't want to admit it but that was me so might as well. I didn't "love" Chris Pratt, I was just so impressed that the chubby goofy dude from Parks and Rec was the highest grossing Hollywood lead actor for a stretch there.
I think I called him the "biggest actor in hollywood at the moment" though, which is a cringeworthy take looking back on it. But I was just happy for the dude more than anything.
that I occasionally visit. I figured out immediately it was him based on the posting style, it was obvious. But I don't keep in touch with him or anything. All I know is that I can confirm he was posting on that site around a year ago.
Who posted periodically here from like 2016-2018. I always felt this guy was Joe, maybe he came back under the radar. But like you say Osi, his posting style was very familiar. I liked a thread below which he (maybe) got into a debate about RB value. Link - ( New Window )
There have been a handful of posters through the years who were dead set on their views and sometimes argued them beyond reason. JoeMP and GT are good examples.
The good far outweighed the bad to me and I wish both guys were still active posters.
They debated for football. Brought their own ideas and defended their views.
That’s a far more meaningful contribution than the mall cops who only post about what topics are/not allowed, and actually never debate football.
....mostly to see if I'm in there and what I wrote!!!!
You motivated me to see what I said in the two linked threads. I could not have been more wrong in each. This was not sort of wrong. My take was the exact opposite from what actually happened.
Joe..

why do you always feel the need to bring up Eli when talking about Favre, as in belittling Eli-who BTW beat Favre on the road to the SB 25 months ago-to make your point about Favre?

Im bringing up Eli because sometimes thats what you have to do to make your point to Giants fans
And i asked a simple question. Was what Favre did last week as bad as Eli in say 05 vs Carolina or 08 vs the Eagles? Its not an eli thing so much as it is does 1 bad throw equal as bad a game as getting your ass handed to you for 60 minutes?
We seem to have some here who think it is just as bad and i think they're clueless
I miss Joe, even though he was batshit cray cray on that thread.

The debating was good. Even if it had an edge to it, it was good.
That doesn’t exist any longer. The minority opinion, the opinion against the grain, the non group-think viewpoint, the get off the fence statement.
It kept you honest and on your toes if you wanted to step into the fray and mix it up.
you could have convinced me that Joe and Terps were the same people. They were both stubborn aholes that thought they were the smartest guy in the room and couldn't wait to everyone. They both also had a weird following of posters that believed their nonsense and would back up everything they said.
Joe could be entertaining because he loved going at people. Both added "fire" and "activity" to the board, so I'm sure they're missed.

Most football arguments, Joe was on an island by himself and he loved that. Terps has a cult following (still to this day), some of which openly advocated for him to be the GM of the Giants. You can't make that shit up.

Yes, that was absolutely him.

Very funny guy. Definitely miss him and some others on that thread.
Re-reading that, I forgot how dug into his stance Joe could get. Entertaining stuff for sure.
Would love to see a post 2011 SB thread for his comments. I'm sure that one changed the minds of a lot of people when it came to Eli.
Smart guy and a good poster, but like others said, he'd take these positions on random things and triple down on them to the point where it would get insane.
But I was right, that drive late in the first half vs Dallas in the playoff game was indeed legendary.
