Isn't he still under contract with the Vikes? And if not, he'd probably be too expensive to bring back. He's still pretty young too so he might want one more big payday.
where he's in the I'm getting cut because my salary is too high, I'm looking at vet minimum contracts going forward boat.
So maybe not too much!
Not at all. His contract is expiring. He's had 2 productive years for them. He was on a really rear to start this season. No idea what he'll command but he's still a plus starter.
Already have a ton of money tied up to this position, and more will be come shortly when dex signs a new deal. Any depth we get on the dline should be draft picks.
I don't buy the Sportrak $8M. I think they're off on their market value analysis in general. He got $10.5m per on his last contract and is 28 which still young enough to be considered in his prime. The cap is going up and I think he's got to be as expensive this time. But I'd pay that to put him back with Dex and Leo. They were a force together. He's a 3 tech which is just what we need. The DL is thin and we need another quality player there.

+1. We also have Davidson coming back at some point next year.

There's a lot of talk about Leo getting injured, not being worth the $32M. Since you're not going to draft a DL first rounder, is it worth considering signing Tomlinson and cutting Leo? I like Leo, btw. But if the theme is 'hard choices', this would be a sensible trade-off maybe to allocate money elsewhere.
it would be crazy to commit that much $$ to the IDL position. You can't pay 3 big salaries at that position, and still have enough left over to stock other positions.
Would love to have him back, it’s like having a run stuffing MLB as a 300lb DT, he’s so good in the middle as a plus run defender, love ex wrestlers as defensive tackles.

Neither front office or coaches have any attachment to him. Very unlikely.
you could’ve said the same about Collins, yet, here we are.
He was a cheap street FA pickup. Tomlinson is going to get offers close to 8-10m a year.

Like butt fumble rear?
IDL is a bigger need than defensive backfield. Giants are unlikely to get a better player in free agency.
Not sure why that’s a factor. If they like his game what does the previous history, or lack there of matter?
Yes they do; Andre Patterson, our DL coach, coached him in 2021 while Tomlinson was with the Vikings.
He'd have to start at DE, and then he'd be an expensive early down and short yardage DE.
Nope, it's a square peg, round hole situation.
Would like more of an 5 tech guy that could play as a 3 man line with Dex and LW.
My pick for affordable Vet help is Matt Ioannidis. And then add a player in the draft.
