The charge is for criminal obstruction of breath. Lee is also being sued in federal court by the woman, who said she was Lee's former girlfriend. The woman says that on May 7, 2022, Lee pulled her hair and choked her during an argument, leaving her with multiple bruises on her body. The 24-year-old Lee is a member of the Mets' 40-man roster, having served brief stints in the majors with the club the last two seasons.

was almost DFA'ed in September to begin with, he's a goner
I have to say

I don't think I have ever heard the term "criminal obstruction of breath". Assuming that is just a term referring to him choking her?

I know innocent until proven guilty, but the Mets don't need anything negative heading into ST. He will be cut and opens up a 40 man roster spot.

"Under New York Penal Code § 121.11 you can be prosecuted for criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation if you apply pressure on the throat or neck of another person or block the nose or mouth, with intent to impede that person's normal breathing or circulation of blood."

Unfamiliar

with Matt Gage who was just DFA'ed but seems worth looking into

"Gage held left-handed hitters to a laughable .086/.149/.111 line in 88 Triple-A plate appearances last year. Righties hit .271 with a .363 on-base percentage but only mustered a .355 slugging mark. That could appeal to clubs looking to stockpile left-handed relief depth. Gage has two minor league option years remaining, so any team willing to keep him on the 40-man roster could stash him in Triple-A for the foreseeable future. The Jays will have a week to deal him or look to run him through waivers."
Gage was apparently with the Mets organization in 2018
KDavies : 2/1/2023 2:28 pm : link
I remember him as much as you. Seems like an interesting AAA stash. 1.38 ERA with the Jays in 11 games last year. From Johnstown and played college at Siena
Yeah
DanMetroMan : 2/1/2023 2:34 pm : link
zero recollection of Gage pitching 27 innings with AA/AAA in 2018
Based on plate appearances

Based on plate appearances probably swung and missed
Cut this turkey yesterday and sign Chafin in his place.
