“ Schottenheimer has served as offensive coordinator for the New York Jets, Rams and Seattle Seahawks at various times since the 2006 season, accumulating 12 years of experience in that role.
During that time his offenses have had an average finish of 20th in the NFL in total yards gained and only 15th in points scored.
Only one of those teams finished a season in the top 10 in yards gained, while only four finished in the top 10 in points scored.” Link - ( New Window )
They’re done. Going from Moore to McCarthy/Schot is a huge step back. They’ve got some good young players but the nucleus of this competitive run is aging and that Dak contract has kicked in. They probably promote Quinn to head coach next year and it feels like this half measure cycle for them that we experienced after our Super Bowl run. I think we’re the main contenders against a very daunting eagles team and front office going forward.
with dancing. Dallas is going to want to have a better running offense. Dak needs this to perform well especially against the better teams and playoffs.
The last two years in the playoffs the run game got stuffed.
WFT is going the same way and Rivera fired the OC because he wants a power running team.
Giants need to get the front 7 up to par and next year they will need it.
McCarthy got one more year because Dallas had a decent but not good enough season for Jerry. Quinn knows he has a good shot to be next in line, so he stayed. McCarthy said, "If its my last shot then I want to do it my way", and Jerry said, "OK".
McCarthy wants to call the plays. That eliminated a lot of the top candidates for OC, including Moore. McCarthy feels he is strongest in the pass game so he hired someone who might help in the run game and wouldn't need to call the plays.
In those three years the Seattle running game was #1, #4, and #12 respectively.
The Dallas OL still is one of the better lines in the NFL. If Schottenheimer(running game coordinator) and Solari(OL coach) can replicate their success in Seattle, the Dallas running game should be fine.
The passing game is being coordinated by McCarthy. This is the portion of the offense that needs to be seen to be evaluated.
I see a significant jump in performance from Gallup next year to team up with Lamb who is a star.
Their offense should be fine next year in the passing game. Wouldn’t be surprised if they target one of the TE’s in the draft.
RE: Second year after knee surgery for Gallup at WR for Cowboys

In the early rounds I think Dallas will go OL again. They have to protect against losing McGovern and injury to Tryon Smith or the retirement of Jason Peters.
In the 2nd I believe they go RB. After that CB, LB, and WR need to be addressed.
TE will probably be low on the list. They drafted Ferguson last year and looks like a Schultz clone.

I think they are on the way down next year.
Just a preposterous move. Schottenheimer should be coaching high school or college.
I didn't even know that. I read it when they announced hiring.
