I labelled this NFT even though it includes football - just being careful. One such record is Rickey Henderson's career stolen bases - 1,406. The next highest was Lou Brock's 938 followed by Sliding Billy Hamilton at 914. Hamilton played for the Kansas City Cowboys, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Beaneaters between 1888 and 1901. Please post your additions .

Bonds 762 HRs
No one is going to get close to that one.
Yes, good one.
I do not think anyone catches (no pun intended) Jerry Rice for catches and receiving yards. All time rushing leader Emmitt smith has over 18K yards. Given how running backs are used and their short lifespan I dont think that gets broken either.
Nolan Ryan's strikeout record will probably never be broken the way pitchers are coddled now. Whoever is the innings pitched leader also and probably wins too. Pitchers do no last anymore and the role as a starter seems to get diminished each year.
I do not think anyone else will ever win 7 Super Bowls (Tom Brady) but its not impossible.
Bonds 762 HRs
56 games
Football- any record that requires health/longevity career rushing yards, career receiving yards, etc as well as career Playoff/SB games. For the most part current players just don't stay healthy long enough to challenge those records.
Martin Brodeur’s win total
Tom Brady’s 7 SB titles
Half of Cy young's wins makes you a first ballot hall of famer. They'd have to shorten the game to 5 innings for anyone to reach 500.
And Dave "Tiger" Williams 3,971 Penalty Minutes in a career.
the game of hockey has changed so much - neither one is in jeopardy of ever being challenged.
and obviously the aforementioned Gretzky points total but his assist total is just as unlikely.
Are you being hockey specific? I think it’s extremely likely that an NBA team will win 4 in a row in my lifetime.
In just the last 20 years it could easily have been done by the lakers heat or warriors. And of course the bulls before that.
Ovechkin is probably going to top Gretzky’s career goals record.
Also 826 decisions will never be exceeded.
The active leader is Verlander, and he's 2,516 behind Ryan.
A pitcher with 2,516 career strikeouts would be 38th on the all-time list. It's about as many strikeouts as Bartolo Colon (2,535).
Also 826 decisions will never be exceeded.
Apples and screwdrivers.
Agreed. It's the most untouchable record in major team sports.
Assume a super precocious kid was allowed to start pitching at 15 in the MLB. He would have to pitch 25 years, with no health issues, and average 20 wins per season for his career to get to 500 wins.
In other words, you basically have to believe in the Easter Bunny to believe that's possible.
Like the Cy Young ironman records or the Bob Gibson 1.12 ERA in 1968.
haha - I like that one!

Brodeur has more than just wins. His other records are even more out of reach..
Games played for a goalie = 1266 (next closest active player = 970
Shutouts = 125 (next closest active player = 72)
Saves = 28,928 (Fleury has a chance to catch him with 25,208)
Yes.

Lol, +1
Ain't nobody touching that record.
I never thought Aaron's home run record would be broken, it was with an asterik...never thought Kareem's career scoring
record would be broken, that's about to happen. I never thought Gretzky's career goals record would be broken,
looks like a very good chance that will happen.
I guess my point is never say never...still don't think Joe D.
will have his hitting streak record broken now, with the game as played today. No one has even reached close to 50 games,
I think Rose got up to 44 one year? Now if someone gets up to 30 games, it seems to be news, but not really, it is something
Rickey's speech to the crowd is somewhat famous for his "Now, I am the greatest" tag line, but he also made a point of remembering and thanking Billy Martin, who had died two years prior.
"I love you Billy; I wish you was here."

Good one, hadn't thought of that. I looked up the all time leaders in HRs hit by pitchers. I thought Babe Ruth would be higher but he only hit 14 HRS as a pitcher. Here are the leaders. I guess Ohtani could challenge these guys - but does he hit on days when he pitches?
Wes Ferrell 37
Bob Lemon - Hall of Fame 35
Warren Spahn- Hall of Fame 35
Red Ruffing - Hall of Fame 34]
Earl Wilson 33
Don Drysdale - Hall of Fame 29
John Clarkson - Hall of Fame 24
Bob Gibson - Hall of Fame 24
BTW, these are just their HRs are pitchers. Back in the day most of these guys occasionally pinch-hit as well, and most of them hit at least a couple of HRs pinch-hitting in their career. Those were the days ...

Ohtani has apparently only hit 3 HRs as a pitcher, the rest as a DH or field player. But I guess he could break this record depending on how things go.

I was there too.
I was there too.
Midweek day game, ducking out of the office. No tracking devices then.
Especially when you consider he did it without 3-pointers.

How about his 20k women he slept with?

I think that one is safe LOL
It may get to a point where .350 is the new .400.

Cherl Miller scored 100 points in a game
44 - Pete Rose (1978)
38 - Jimmmy Rollins (2006)
35 - Luis Castillo (2002)
35 - Chase Utley (2006)
Rose is the only one who came somewhat close but multiple 35 guys are there. If Castillo can get to 35, maybe the right combination of better talent and luck can get to 56?
It involves so much going your way in terms of 50/50 batted balls, but I don't think it's one of those we can say is impossible in the modern era like a Cy Young/Walter Johnson pitching record.
Especially when you consider he did it without 3-pointers.
the 3 point shot is the reason why this one may eventually fall. When Kobe went for 81 he *only* hit 7 threes. Klay Thompson had 37 points in a quarter but only played 33 mins in that game.
Breaking this record would most likely also involve someone simultaneously breaking the record for 3s in a game - and staying in the game long enough to do it.

I've thought for a long time that Klay Thompson has an actual chance at Wilt because of the 3pt shooting.
Even in Wilt's day, if he scored 70+ then it would typically be a blowout in that team's favor. Wilt scoring 100 was a bit of a sideshow act as both Philly and the Knicks did really stupid shit in that 4th quarter as the game became more about his scoring record than anything since it was a fairly safe Philly 20pt lead late in that one.
The the GOAT NBA scoring performance in my opinion was BY FAR was when Kobe scored 62 in 3 quarters to outscore the Mavs personally 62-61. A Mavs team that would go on to be in the NBA Finals and almost win it all.
An NBA player outscoring the opposing team through 3 quarters is unthinkable, regardless of the quality of the opponent. Kobe's 81 was also a more impressive scoring performance than Wilt's 100 relative to the situation imo.
I've never liked Kobe but that man was mesmerizing when he got hot. I would say he has the 2 most impressive displays of individual volume scoring in league history with context included.
I think Klay or whoever has a better chance at Wilt's 100 than actually outscore an entire team by themselves for 3 quarters.
This is the one. No way it ever gets broken. Need to go another 9 innings of no hit ball
