St. Jimmy : 2/5/2023 11:59 pm

Schools are having Eagle spirit Week for the kids. Basically wear different things to get ready for the Superbowl. Ending with Eagles stuff at the end of the week.

Not sure where you live, but there are actually people, a lot of them, that root for the Eagles. Especially if you are somewhere in South or West NJ, not to mention PA.

And most people do not have BBI's hate for the Eagles.

Like the flu, it is awful for a while, then it goes away...

the thing that is so different for New York fans who grew up around NY is that there isn't a built in fan base split down here around Philly..

So when I grew up and Yankees were in dynasty mode, there was still a healthy chunk of Mets fans (myself included) who, while tortured, were still all aligned against the Yankees. Same split for Giants/Jets..I still never met a Net fan but plenty of Bulls fans to go around (Haha!)..

But that dynamic doesnt exist in Philly. Whole city gets behind the same team, except for transplants like myself.

My kids have same issue at their school. The school is cool about it though and says "Wear your Eagles or other favorite team gear on Friday, Feb 10"... so my son wants to wear his own basketball shirt, my daughter doesn't care..

Yes, they will probably all learn and sing Fly Eagles Fly this week, but I'll just try to ignore that its happening and won't ask them about it... haha

Yeah. I worked with so many people who moved here from New York. They always told me that they had no idea how eagles behaved or knew anything about them until they moved to South Jersey. They always thought of them as irrelevant. Never had Philly or the Eagles on their minds at all.

I remember taking about an hour or two telling my family up north how great it was something extra special that the Yankees beat the Phillies in the 2009 World Series. They just didn't understand.

Didn't this just happen last year with the Astros/Phillies WS on here, too? Lol. I think I went on one of my golden rants about "fuck the Phillies" or something.

I do use their airport and their stadiums for concerts because they technically are closer but that city and their fans are annoying.

That’s like forcing a kid into learning a Christian prayer when Jewish. I’d sue the school board.

In 2017 the daycare had the kids making dog masks. I don't think they'll be anything like that this year. I'm sure the fight song was involved too.

Yeah thats a great point...Philadelphia never bothered me until I moved here.

And yes, in 2009 I rooted for the Yankees...something I never thought I'd ever do in my life. For me it was the equivalent of hell freezing over..
