Trade deadline closing in still not a ton of chatter around the Knicks other than the rumored jazz deal. I am not in favor of the move to send obi and one first for Beasley and Vanderbilt
I’m Holding out hope they make a move for OG as long as the price is right and if there’s no deal to be made I’d keep it simple at the deadline and go get someone like Eric Gordon or a player of that caliber for a pair of 2nds.
Outside of moving around on draft night, this regime barely makes any trades at all. I wouldn't expect anything noteworthy.
Obi's warts are too exposed in what Tom wants to do out there and he is unable to adapt.
In theory, Beasley and Vandy while not big time needle movers are much better fits. The roster construction will look much closer to what it needs to win sans the final superstar piece. They will probably chose the deal that keeps enough assets to make that final big move.
This. He's 65 years old, has never won a ring and is now 5 games under .500 since 2021-2022 began (66-71), why in the world are we worried about adding pieces to help his system? He should be shown the door in a few months.
woj says fvv most likely to go to either pho or lac and both would be really good fits for him. mann + kennard would be a nice return for toronto especially if they can squeeze out some picks. ive seen it speculated that phoenix cant be too aggressive with their picks right now in case KD hits the market again in the summer, which makes sense to me.
og and siakam who knows but my guess is he'd trade either if he gets his price and keeps either if he doesnt.
- does not rebound well- especially on defense.
- doesn't protect the rim and is a good perimeter defender.
He has great hands, is a talented finisher and can shoot it from 3 - especially this year. But I do think those flaws make him a hard fit and not just for the Knicks.
I would think THIS time they are going to make a move instead of sitting on their thumbs again. Either the Beasley/Vandy deal or OG or maybe a minor to medium surprise move. However the move will just be solidfying the roster in prep for the final chess piece whatever that becomes i.e Booker, SGA, Dame, etc.
A dark-horse candidate....I would think the guy who might be close to asking out behind the scenes is Dame. He has been super patient up there in Portland but they can never seem to get a good performing team around him. His window is quickly closing in terms of being at peak value in a trade too. I doubt it happens by the deadline but who knows....

Dame told them last year it was ok if they decided to trade him before he got hurt, he told them he wasnt going to ask out but if they traded him he would be ok with it and then he had surgery and talks all died...
Now it wont but last year it would have

That was Windhorst with Zach Lowe re: Simmons. They talked about it on the most recent pod
Minutes distribution and having to make the move for OG as the complimentary defensive chess piece to compensate.
Roughly (Brunson and Dame 'only' together 20 minutes, OG the defesive chess piece)
Brunson(32)/Dame(14)/McBride
Dame(20)/Grimes/Quickley/OG
OG/RJ/Grimes
Randle/OG
Mitch
Same here. He's still overly dramatic and corny but he's clearly tied into the league at high levels and puts the work in.
It was also pretty revealing how accurate he has been on big moves- particularly on the Harden Simmons trade compared to Woj.
Felt like for the longest time he was just always in and around lebron talk. I know he covered him forever but it felt like he was exclusively a mouth piece for his camp.
However the Past few years he’s been on top of a ton of different trade talks and discussions and I’ve enjoyed when he’s on Zach lowes pod.
And if he says something. There’s always some serious smoke to it
agree completely. His podcast is usually pretty good. Seems like he's moved beyond being a mouthpiece for agents (e.g. Woj) and is instead using his contacts and inside info to make best guesses as to what teams may or may not do. He's not quite as good as Lowe (who has a much different approach), but he's better than most of the other clowns out there.
they need good 3 and D guys and Defensive big--- not those 2 so makes sense
Yup, David Aldridge was Woj before Woj
OG and Porter ( salary filler ) for
RJ and Rose plus first rounder protected
Demar Derozan and Patrick Williams for
Obi and Fournier and Hart plus protected first
Reddish for draft capital. 2 seconds?
I want as many three and D players
Derozan and OG gives them that chance to go deep into playoffs
Shams and Woj suck! :)
Demar Derozan and Patrick Williams for
Obi and Fournier and Hart plus protected first
that package wouldn't get you ONE of Derozan or Williams - let alone both of them.

REPORT: The Lakers and Jazz have discussed a deal that sends Russell Westbrook and draft compensation to Utah for Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, and Jared Vanderbilt, via The Athletic.
Wouldn’t expect anything major from the Knicks. They’re still in conversations about Beasley.
Its a good question, i think they have the ammo to make a serious move now and the offseason but the question is, is that player out there?
I think OG is a serious piece you can add but if Toronto is asking for 3 forsts, 2 unportected and a lightly protected plus yoing players, its a lot, even though i thkmk OG is a valuanle piece to add it sprobably to much..
There is some rumbilings that Lavine could be talked about but again what do they want and how much..
I think they need to add a bench wing, even if its a small move, it would at least stabilize the bench...
I know it is hard to fathom, but Porzingis is the perfect fit. Could Hartenstein, Reddish and giving back Washington's pick get it done.
Bulls reportedly asking for *2* firsts for Caruso. So hard pass from me.
"Jamal Collier of ESPN reported Monday that the Eastern Conference team "has been open to listening to offers on the reserve guard." However, it would "likely have to be blown away" by an offer to complete such a move ahead of Thursday's deadline."
Which in my mind is a good thing, no one moves the needle for this season but they need to be active in the summer.
Also to a lesser extent Durant, a team like Phoenix probably wants to hold as many assets as they can to take a run at Durant but at the same time want to improve theor team this year..
Until Toronto makes a deciison or starts making moves, the market is going to be at a standstill

This is where I am at. The worst thing that could happen is trading young players for pennies on the dollar and/or giving up assets for someone that fits Thibs' system. I honestly hope Thibs keeps up what he does and enough pressure is put on him to replace him. He did his job. He made us more respectable but we are not going further with him. Rip off the band-aid and let a new coach have influence on what we do with our assets moving forward. We need a front office and coach on the same page and that isn't the case.

Is it worth it for NYK to move some of their draft capital to get a bench player that MAY help them make the playoffs? Wouldn’t it be wise to either hold onto it and sell a tad, get a bit more or make a serious move that helps them now and the future?

Lavine imo is worrisome same as OG injury wise. As far as a bench wing, sorry but Reddish not playing at all even 12-15 mins a night as that “bench wing” is awful to not even see if he can be in that role, then go trade assets for one just is bad asset management imo.
Remember us trying to trade for Brunson last year? Just finish strong the season, look to upgrade the coach.
A shame the Nets will never deal him to the Knicks.

I like Reddish, but he doesnt want that role, he wants to start and be a 1st or 2nd option..He wants to score, right now he is not willing to accept he is a role player..

what could the knicks offer? the picks with durant wont be great.
- obi? yuck
- barrett? knicks fans dont like him
- IQ? ill take cam thomas any day.
the time to trade for durant was when Barrett had #2 pick value still.
