Are there really fans here who care what team a player rooted for as a kid? Outside of it being cool when someone gets to play for the team they rooted for.
we putting the band back together? I ask because Bradberry and Pugh are apparently returning, and Collins already did. That band didn't make very good music.
Has started 51-of-52 games played in four seasons (2018-21) with the Cardinals. Those 51 starts have come at LG (42), RG (7) and RT (2).
For two years in a row now, Pugh has ranked among the top 10 guards in ESPN’s pass block win rate and has also finished among the top five left guards in snaps per blown block according to SIS charting. Pugh considered retirement after the season, but Arizona general manager Steve Keim convinced him to return on a reworked deal.
Depending on cost he could be an upgrade to our current very weak IOL. He also has veratilty to slide out to RT in a pinch.
He rubbed me the wrong way. He spoke WAY too much for an average player.
Some of his games against the Eagles were just awfully bad. It was one of the 88 shutouts night games in Philly within the last 15 years, he was just so bad. Connor Barwin I think it was? Well whoever it was made Pugh his little bitch that night. Amazing Eli started as many ganes in a row as he did.
hard pass. what is it with this board that every time an ex-Giant flop
but I hated that pick so much. Almost as much as Eli Apple in 2016.
Agreed.
We drafted Pugh, Apple, Flowers and Engram all in the first round.
Ugh
Pugh and Engram at least weren't busts. They had warts but Pugh played very high level with us for a bit before injuries and his mouth got him out of town. Flowers on the other hand for his draft position and Apple were busts not outright bums but not nearly the high level players their draft position would suggest.
Pugh was drafted to play RT. He was the 19th pick and 7th OL drafted. Then he was supposed to move to LG and I believe was forced to fill in at both tackle spots as well. He was the best lineman on the (admittedly weak) team. In fact he is a better OL than most of the guys who have cycled through the line here in the years since. I don't think you can blame a player for the poor performance of his competition for the job. And I don't think you can blame a player for injuries as long as he makes good faith efforts to rehab and to stay in shape. And I don't think you can blame a player for a bonehead front office that reaches for the 7th OL in a draft at 19.
As for bringing him back now, he tore his ACL mid season so he won't be competing for any spot anywhere til after season starts. Nothing wrong with inviting him for a workout if he's able to come back from the injury some time.

Huh? I don't recall Pugh or Engram EVER playing at a high level. Periods of mediocrity in between coach killing play.

Ignore his posts, they are not based in reality. Also, January 2023.

Regardless of when he signed on, cornerstone has a point. Neither Pugh nor Engram was a bust, and both played at a high level (meaning good to very good starter) at least part of their career. Certainly the vast majority of people here believed that. The idea that they never played well is revisionist history.
He can still be a fan for us just not a player. He’s not an upgrade over what we have and he’s too old at this point. He is a vet minimum guy at this point.

Disagree. Both were average at best here, and then for only one year. Average for one year does not equal playing "at a high level."

If you draft a guy in the first round and he plays well for 1 season and then slowly declines into a maddeningly dumb, inconsistent and coach killing football player every year after, then yes he was a bust.

His answer to poor line play was continuity. So when the player across from you kicks your ass time and again, his answer was always continuity.
Terrible player with a piss poor attitude.
Talk about selective stats! He’s missed 25 games in the past 5 years.
