Would you consider trading for Lamar Jackson?

@RapSheet
Could the #Ravens trade QB Lamar Jackson? After he receives the franchise tag, a windfall of draft picks could tempt Baltimore to consider a deal.

He’s looking for a fully guaranteed contract similar to Watson which would end the discussion right there for me. However, he’s 49-21 as a starter and he’s won a MVP.

To those who think Jones is limited and don’t want to pay him upwards of $40M AAV, is Jackson an option to upgrade the position? He’s only 26.

play. But I prefer to watch him on the Ravens. He will cost way to much money with that guaranteed money for my blood.

This is one of those buying high situations. I think he peaked. These past two years he hasn't been the special player he was. I wouldn't bet that his throwing ability will increase at a rate greater than his physical decline. Someone will take that risk, but it won't be us

He wants Watson money and you give up premium assets.

How can you rebuild with that? He wants a passing offense also and who's he throwing to here? And how do you go about acquiring them? Draft is the only way in those circumstances.
I’d rather root for the Jets

Has a 26 yr old MVP QB ever came on the market?
What would be the jump point 3 first?
I mean if you trade for him you have a franchise QB for the next 10 years and one that can carry a team because of his ability to run and improvise. I don't see how The Ravens could let him walk unless you get the Texans to bite and get the 2nd pick this year plus.

If he's with the right head coach, he'll do well.
Optimus-NY : 2/11/2023 6:09 pm : link
He also needs to stop being his own agent. A team like the Jets would ne ideal for him. Niners might fit him too, if Shanahan Jr. adjusts his offense for him a bit.
Would love extra picks in BBI Mock Draft

He wants to be the highest paid player ever. The last report I saw said that Jackson and the Ravens were $100 million apart on an extension. That's an absurd gap.

Due to his style of play he will not have a long NFL career plus he hasn't played well in the postseason. Hard pass

His playing style has led to what we’ve seen the last two years. Can’t stay healthy, especially late in the season. I really don’t understand the fascination with Jackson by some.

Why is there still hype on this guy?
USAF NYG Fan : 2/11/2023 6:43 pm : link
I just don't see. When he played us he choked on the snap letting the ball slip through his hands and then followed it up by throwing an interception. 7 point swing that took away their lead. It's ok, he's an MVP QB and has plenty of time left right? No, he gets strip-sacked to end the game.

That would probably go down as one of, if not the worst decisions

I've never thought much of Jackson as a QB
Dave on the UWS : 2/11/2023 7:22 pm : link
that could win a SB. He's always seemed more like a great athlete playing QB. His throwing motion stinks, he's NEVER shown he can read a defense. If he couldn't run, I don't think he would be effective, he's not a pocket QB. And at "some" point, a QB has to win from the pocket. When he consistently does that, I'll change my tune.

So they should just pay a huge contract to a lesser QB?
Of course, you consider it...
bw in dc : 2/11/2023 8:16 pm : link
But the recent injury history is hard to overlook. And the self-agent thing is problematic.

Still, I have to imagine Daboll could develop and create quite an offense with this guy...

Yeah it would be awesome with nobody in it because we gave up 4 first round picks and are paying him $50/year guaranteed. Very savvy roster construction.
I think we ought to give them 3 firsts and 3 seconds
BillT : 2/11/2023 9:35 pm : link
And give him the biggest contract in the NFL. Better than signing a guy who only threw 15 TDS.

$50 mill for 5/6 years guaranteed vs $35 mill for 3(?). Yes that is close.

It isn’t that Jones is better versus the compensation Baltimore would look for plus Jackson’s salary demands exceeding the difference in QB play.

I answered the question as if I were a GM, not necessarily the Giants GM. That said, your position on Jones is well-known.
