Bird won back to back to back MVPs...he did everything at the top level.Rebound,Score,Defense,hustle...and was clutch
TBH I would take him to take the last shot of a tie game 7 over anyone ever in the history of the game...even more so if you are down 1
is at it again I see. Not gonna get my hopes up, but it's nice to know we have a damn good team to fall back on either way. Hopefully Morey at least ships him out West, if not NY. Get Philly out of that top four in the East while the Knicks ascend.

And if we're gonna call Randle's shot lucky and say he fumbled the ball then you also have to admit the Heat were fortunate to not have a foul called on about 3 separate occasions before Randle even shot the ball.

I think Durant was a lock to the Knicks for a certain point in time but I get your point. He was also the first I heard in the media with Lebron to the Lakers...
I don't hate Simmons like some do-though I think the man is full of himself @ times-but it isn't like he was the sole media person all but putting KD in a Knicks uniform. Zach Lowe-who I like-was parroting the same stuff. I think it became groupthink at a certain point that Durant was MSG bound.
the Knicks would obviously want him. He may even want to come to the Knicks. But there's other teams out there with more picks than we've accumulated. And if you thought Ainge was tough to deal with...Morey may actually be worse.
Embiid is a perfect fit. And maybe the package of picks and RJ,Obi+ another player and 4-5 picks will be too good a package to pass up. Mavs pick looking better and better too. The way we stagger RJ with the 2nd unit we could stagger Embiid or Randle. That would be a dominant 2 units.

Chris Haynes, KD’s favorite media reporter, said the Knicks all the way until the final week. KD wanted the Knicks. Kyrie wanted the Nets and KD didn’t feel that strongly about it to say no.

I mean, as you said he was one of the first on Lebron to the Lakers, he may not have been on point with the team but he was correct in hearing Durant to NY, and he was also the first towards the end of last summer to start with Ishbia as a buyer for the Suns. He clearly has well connected sources, that said, even if there is smoke of Harden back to Houston, that doesn’t mean Philly is definitely moving Embiid. He’s locked up long term and they could decide to rebuild in some way around him.
But just to entertain it, I think you’re looking at something along the lines of Mitch, RJ, Obi plus picks. I think on paper Embiid is worth it, add him to this current team and that’s arguably the best team in the East.
I called shotgun on that bandwagon long ago! I want to get his jersey I’m just too lazy. 30 or 11.
I’m also really really really loving IQ. He’s become and indispensably valuable player here. I think he’s almost as valuable as brunson. He’s one of the best defenders in the game now and he can flat out score from anywhere.
More and more I find myself thinking how is the other team going to beat the Knicks where as it used to be the other way around. The Knicks are really hard to deal with. If you don’t bring it they run and out work you right the fuck out of the building.
Bondy just a wrote an article that outlined that Durant was coming to the Knicks until he tore his Achilles and then wanted to join Irving who wanted the Nets.
It’s always strange to me how much speculation you hear on rumors in the nba but never hear an accurate reporting of what happened after the fact.
Who knows what happens with Embiid but there is 100% smoke. And the way the NBA is now, if a player of his caliber wants out - he’s gone to the team of his choosing.
early fouls, but 22 mins for him vs. 29 for RJ is absurd. IQ is the 3rd best player on this team.
IQ is the 3rd best player but we also have to continue to give RJ some level of confidence too. We can't go to wild cutting his minutes. I actually think Thibs rotations have been masterful of late. Only nitpick would be playing RJ a bit less but you can't remove him entirely from the equation either. He does rrally break down the D well on his drives for the most part and he just needs to really continue to work on his outside shot and only shoot when open from deep. And minimize the number of outside shots vs drives IF he is not in a groove.
1. This has been a fun and great season. I thought they would be about .500 but the monster year from Randle and good lineup decisions from Thibs have been the main drivers of being better than that from my preseason thoughts.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
2. Their recent streak has a lot to do with some great individual shot-making from Randle and Brunson + some hot three point shooting. The team defense has also improved throughout the year, which is typical for a Thibs team. Mitch getting healthy huge with the defense too.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
3. Short term, this team is capable of winning a first round playoff series if Randle and Brunson play well. I worry a bit about the simplistic offense in the postseason but the way they offensive rebound, get to the line and limit turnovers should mitigate a lot of that.
4. They have a real shot against the Cavs or the Sixers in the first round and either series should go a minimum of six games. It will likely be a lot of fun. Great progress on the win column and we've seen youngsters like Quickley, Grimes, Mitch, and even Obi (3's) take steps.
5. Big picture long term, I've always stressed the importance of obtaining star players. It's how you win in the NBA. Randle and Brunson have been legit stars this year. Both will be in the ALL-NBA conversation. That's how the Knicks will stay out of the play-in tournament.
@Schmeelk
6. I've said the Knicks need to obtain two stars to become contenders and need to use assets to acquire those stars accordingly. But now? If they acquire the correct singular star that might be enough if the rest of the roster remains mostly intact.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
7. If you put a true top ten player with Brunson, Randle, Quickley, Grimes, Hart, and Mitch this team has a trajectory that could be special. Ideally that player is a big wing that's a two-way player that shoots well. But the Embiid conversation is a real one too.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
8. So now the Knicks muster their assets, and wait for the right guy. You use Barrett as a young player with a larger contract to match salary and use Obi as another young asset to go with all the picks.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
9. One other non-stop ten guy I would think about is Zach LaVine who has that wing size and is a legitimate offensive player that adds an athleticism factor on the wing that the Knicks don't have. He would also not likely cost EVERYTHING like Embiid would.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
10. Those are my thoughts right now short and long term. Onwards and upwards. Go Knicks
-Unsure if I agree on LaVine (High contract and term, injury prone, no D) and if it's a full teardown in Chicago we gotta go with Derozan. The ask for Derozan would be higher but we have the assets to do it. Embiid though would be ideal.

Embiid obviously would be the dream addition, but to touch on his point about looking to add a wing, my favorite target would be Mikal Bridges. I think he would be absolutely perfect on this team. He basically does all of the things that we all wish RJ did as the third option.
I don’t know how likely it is that Brooklyn looks to move him, but even if it takes RJ plus a ton of picks I’d be all for it.

whether it is a star or just a role player, they have to be able to shoot the 3, rebound and defend, otherwise that player wont fit..
You have 2 scorers, you have to build around them accordingly even when adding a star next to them.
I agree the ideal player would be a 2 or 3 and can play an elite 2 way game.
However Embiid is too good not to fit. Randle Brunson Grimes Quickley with Embiid might not be elite 3 pt scoring but it would be good enough with everything else that big 3 brings to the table.

It might take Quickley, Grimes and picks. Everyone knows what you know about RJ and if you are trading your franchise it's going to be for a laundry list of talent
Ouch. Better to rest him if needed, though, I guess. Need him healthy down the stretch.
I would rest him if its bothering him, it sucks but this is a tough game either way, you have won 8 in a row with the Hornets coming up at home tuesday and then a long west coast trip..

I would rest him if its bothering him, it sucks but this is a tough game either way, you have won 8 in a row with the Hornets coming up at home tuesday and then a long west coast trip..
rest up and get to as close to 100% as you can
He is a warrior...but we need him healthy
Yeah but its nkce to feel good about your team where you can sya ok even if they lose this game i trut them to go get the next one..
i wanted 2-2 this week, they already got 3 winzls, its a win for the week

I will be really bummed if he can’t play. Been looking forward to this game all week. Nationally televised game too. I understand that if he’s injured and can’t go he can’t go. But I really hope he can.
