he is the best player. the only knocks on him are one that hasn't seemed to make much difference (just 1 pass batted down last year) and another that is an unknown with every player (durability).
and maybe Levis as a dark horse candidate, which I think is a distinct possibility.
I have a feeling Levis is going to drop further down than expected...
I'm thinking he gets drafted higher than expected. In the combines he measured a full 6'4" (kind of an important, maybe arbitrary thing for me a QB or TE is 6'4"+ rather than 6'3").
More than full NFL body at 229 lbs.

RE: OSU alumni, watch every OSU game for the past 2 years
You have to swing for the fences and get a prospect with a huge ceiling. I’d take Anthony Richardson and not look back. I’d sign a veteran QB to hold down the fort, someone like Andy Dalton, and give the keys to car to Richardson for next season.
Richardson is super raw, but his ceiling is through the roof. Just a physical specimen with elite arm talent.

Look, no one on this board is more pro-measurables than me. That's a big reason why I would probably not touch Young until much further down in the round.
Levis has a big toolbox. There is a lot to work with.
And while I know he was saddled with a talent drop off this year in Lexington, he really played so poorly at times - especially in the redzone - that his decision making has to be a major concern. He made some of the worst decisions I saw this year when it mattered most in the 4th quarter.
And at the Combine, I thought he looked flat throwing the ball. Even Jeremiah was critical on how he threw to his left side.
I certainly can't rule out your position based on your reasons. But I think he's a big "Buyer Beware" pick right now...
I usually frown on the Buckeye QBs but I think Stroud has the goods.
They always seem better than they really are because they never really face tough competition until the last game of the year. OSU has dominated the Big Ten for years until Michigan got better again and there is such a gap in talent. I remember when people were salivating over Haskens a few years ago and never understood why. If you watched his games he would literally have a minute to sit in the pocket when passing. The NFL is so different.

Not sure what he was doing, but I'm guessing he was trying to throw with touch and accuracy to the flats, which is kind of a criticsm of him - he doesn't dial it down.
Hey I did want to sign Jones so we don't have to think about this too hard and there's no totally clean prospect.
Carolina ultimately wanted the top pick because it gave it the most options. According to the source, team officials have conviction on more than two of the top quarterbacks but haven't become focused on one as they're still early in the evaluation process.
They were high on Kentucky's Will Levis early last season and impressed with Levis, Alabama's Bryce Young and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud at the combine, league sources said.
But should the Panthers fall in love with a couple of quarterbacks, they would consider trading back a spot or two, according to a league source.

Hard to believe they're still "early in the evaluation process," but maybe so.

I wouldn’t take him the first pick of the second round. An athlete yup. A QB not even close.
I’m sure Stroud will do just fine in the NFL, and he did have a monster game against Georgia, but the guy had the best offense surrounding him. Best receivers, and best offensive line.
If he goes to Carolina, he’s basically going to have what Daniel Jones has had all these years, limited pass protection and average to below average receivers.
whoever it is, they are clearly convinced he is their guy
I don't necessarily agree with this. I'm not saying they don't have a guy in mind but I wouldn't assume that either. Houston is 100% taking a QB. Carolina made this deal to guarantee a QB. That's the only assumption that I can make now. They couldn't trade up to number two. This reminds me of the Eagles trading up to 2. People laughed at them but they knew they were getting one of two QBs that they liked. Two wasn't an option for Carolina so they got the first pick. I can see them trading down with Houston to recoup soke picks.
One thing I will say though, whoever they pick might have a really hard time succeeding after getting rid of CKC and DJM. That O is much thinner than you'd like for a rookie QB coming in.
whichever of Stroud or Young isn't chosen by the Panthers?
I like the timing and clarity of this trade. Kills most of the speculation. We all now know Carolina is going QB with the first pick.
Anyone thinking Chicago didn't get a good haul needs their head examined. And if Fields doesn't pan out, they have two first rounders in 2024. And if Fields doesn't pan out, the first of those picks should already be a high one.

Not necessarily; the Texans also have a need at edge (DE in their system) since Jerry Hughes is getting up there in age and anyone who manned the other spot last year is a free agent.

They can get Lamar for 2 firsts max, if they sign an offer sheet with him.
but come with these ESPN type evaluations of LJax. But then again Tepper is a kook, 1st overall pick and passing out 7 year guaranteed contract like its candy. lmao 7 years!

Will be interesting to watch. Rumors are Young will still go to Texans. 3 and 4 are the spots to see. Does Arizona trade out? Do Colts go Levis?
Stroud isn't as good as a prosect as Fields was.

Stroud is a better passer, IMO.
I agree
Bryce is really small, Levis was really not that good (erratic at best), Richardson is very very green.
Frankly I'd rather draft Hooker or McKee in the later rounds than some of the ones mentioned above (I really like McKee as a sleeper).
Richardson is super raw, but his ceiling is through the roof. Just a physical specimen with elite arm talent.

They could have picked AR at 9

Stroud stepped up bigtime vs GA. But those OSU qbs worry me
Haskins, not sold on fields as a thrower. I do think stroud is best of the bunch though.

To me, he was the standout throwing the ball. Jeremiah said it best. Stroud is the "Textbook" QB.
He would have to sit for 2 years to learn the pro position. He is far behind Young, Stroud, and Levi's in terms of QB development.

If they were going to do that why wouldn’t they just stay at 9? 9+2024 1st rounder is less than they dealt to Chicago.
