If the Devils win they will be tied with Carolina but Carolina has a game in hand. This is an important game for the Devils to win if they want to win the division.

They are playing well but are still waiting for the stars to get hot so it’s good that they are winning right now but once the stars get hot this team could be deadly.
Very exciting season so far and I think this team can make some noise. They create a ton of chances they just have to bury the puck. Also they are FAST so I expect the lines to score a ton down the stretch

We play Tampa 3 times in the next 8 days including 2 straight at the Rock after tonight's game. It's like a playoff series. Then we have the Florida back to back next weekend. I agree that we need to get that 2nd line going with Jack and Timo. They were good at creating chances in Washington but couldn't finish. Last night they were abominable. Probably the worst of the 4 lines. I hope Jack gets it together. Since he returned from the injury he just hasn't looked near himself.

Yep, the schedule is tough to be sure. And that 2nd line last nite was awful, but I think we have not heard from that line yet. Let's see how this pans out. I think we will make some noise this year and really it's a bonus

The Devils need to drop Boqvist back down to the 3rd line. If Ruff wants to keep Bratt on the 3rd line he should move Palat back up to the 2nd line with Hughes and Meier.

Totally agree. I'm sorry there are 4 feds on this team that are in the top 6 no questions period. Nico, Jack, Timo and Bratt. There is no way any of those 4 should be on the 3rd line with Eric Haula.
Vanacek on top of his game and Jack and Bratt were flying tonight. Combined for all the goals and could easily have had 2 or 3 more. Good call Jay before the game. Those 2 need to stay together.
Spaulding always tweeks him because Kenny always says ignore the standings. I want to just see them play well down the stretch and let the chips fall where they may. If they win the division great. I don't care who they match up against in the playoffs.

As mentioned, the biggest sign of encouragement was Vanacek finding himself again. Defense looked better to me until they went up 3-0 and naturally the foot came of the gas a little bit.
Also happy Boqvist is ok, that was a dirty play by Burns. When they went to the ground he threw his elbow into the back of his head. No reason for that.
First look at the Lightning for the Devs this year tonight
Lazar makes his debut, Bastain out with UB injury. Rest of the lines stay the same as Sunday. Vanacek gets the start. Canes host Winnipeg. As we discussed in the hockey thread big blow for the Canes losing Svech for the rest of the year with an ACL. He's a fun player to watch and besides I never revel in rival's injuries. Bad Kharma.

Absolutely but Carolina can match them too with their speed. So far Vitek is on his game which is huge.
