Giants are gonna be big players in the DL/LB market. Been in constant contact with Agent gaging market. Biggest names to watch are Zach Allen formerly of Arizona, David Long Jr., Dalvin Tomlinson, A’Shawn Robinson, Dean Lowry, Demarcus Walker, Azeez Al-Shaair, Anthony Walker, Bobby Okereke and Germaine Pratt.

Giants also looking to add a CB. Inquired on Marcus Peters, Byron Murphy, Greedy Williams (brother of Rodarius), and Jamal Dean.

Giants looking to Resign their IOL (Gates and Feliciano) continue to add young pieces through draft.

Giants looking to add TE depth. Interest in Dan Arnold formerly of Jacksonville.

I'd to see Joe S

cluster draft early at WR & D (CB and ILB/OLB) ... 2 WR, 1 CB and 1 LB rd 1 thru 3 ... we got a fair amount of holes so go BPA 4 and 5 ... take some swings 6 thru 7.

I am not expecting a lot in FA ILB* stop gap 1 to 2 years S (love or otherwise) a tier 2 vet at WR or TE.

*Maybe he does something there semi-splashy but it should be a magically contract.

The signing was horrible and I was just pointing out how poor drafts and in this case of a high premium pick has major consequences.

It was a terribly executed plan by Dave but I also do not believe he had the authority to conduct a tear down. For me, I think Mara wanted to put the best team together possible and let Eli finish his contract on good terms. It was a colossal failure but I understood the reasoning.

Onwards we go.

There's a lot of money on that list
AcesUp : 3/13/2023 9:42 am : link
Mostly second tier names at LB but those are some of the bigger names at CB and DL. Two positions that tend to get paid.

Because not sure Wink could've absolutely loved JPP in Baltimore since JPP's only season in Baltimore was last season.

Here's a guy that is really interesting to me...Demarcus Walker. Walker, former Florida State standout, is a 6'4" 280 DE. Things didn't really workout in Denver, just kind of alright there during his 4 years there, really only contributed a little the last two. Then he went to Houston where he didn't really distinguish himself there either.

But then he plays in Tennessee last year, and here's where it gets interesting. He has 7 sacks, 16 QB hits, and 10 TFLs, with 32 total tackles. But he also only had 6 starts, and played just 37% of Tennessee's defensive snaps on the year, just 426 total.

Now, the big ticket DE this offseason in free agency is Javon Hargrave from Philly. He played 712 defensive snaps for the Eagles, had 60 tackles, 11 sacks...and get this...16 QB hits and 10 TFLs...the same as DeMarcus Walker. Wondering if Walker is just starting to unlock something. Walker's 7 sacks on 426 snaps translates to a sack every 60.85 snaps.

That's a really high rate, nearly elite. For example, a lot of DE starters get around 800 snaps...if Walker sustained that rate and got full-time starter reps, that would translate to 13+ sacks. Now, I understand this isn't how football works, and obviously the longer you are on the field the more diminished the returns can be, but still, that's impressive, and it seems to have come out of nowhere.
Interesting tidbit on Walker.

Struggled with a stutter growing up all the way through college. Has worked on it and just started doing team interviews recently. Says it’s helped him a lot with his confidence. He has a foundation for kids with speech impediments.

Think there is a certain young member on the Giants he could be a good bet for?
walker was a monster at fsu

i like the type of player they are apparently targeting. calais and zach allen also fit. oversized disruptors who can pressure the passer and play physical. there was way too big of a drop off from williams/lawrence to anyone else, sounds like they are looking to upgrade jihad ward and if he comes back it would be more of a depth role vs starting - which is the right call.
Resigning
Doubledeuce22 : 3/13/2023 10:44 am : link
Gates/Feliciano would be extremely disappointing. There are much better options out there at OC and it's way too important of a position to ignore.

We're likely going with WR at #25, judging from those FA rumors.

The FA WR class is pretty weak, so it stands to reason that there wouldn't be a ton of rumored FA activity for a WR. Does anyone want to pay top dollar for Jakobi Meyers or D.J. Chark?

I think the WR help will come via draft picks, either as rookie selections or in trade, because there's nowhere else to find a player who even resembles a WR1 when you squint really hard.
Wonder if they will re-sign Jihad Ward

Gates injury seems to be the type that a player can return from but isn't quite the same until year 2 of the recovery in terms of full strength and explosion.
Some insight on Schoen's interest in retaining Feliciano
KingBlue : 3/13/2023 11:10 am : link
This from today's NY Post article linked below:

“We had Feliciano in Buffalo with us, and it’s not just on the field with some of these guys,’’ Schoen said. “Leadership in the locker room and within their position group that you really gotta make sure you don’t let a lot of leadership walk out of the building, and that’s gonna be a concerted effort for some of these guys — backups, starters, whatever it may be, we want to retain some of our leadership.’’

Hargrave is interesting but he is a DT. Perhaps he can also play at DE in your 3 man fronts. I do think finding that bigger DE who excels in run defense and can give you some good rush is one of the highest priorities this offseason. Having someone that can slide in at DT at times is ideal.

Run defense gave up 145 yards/game. Against division opponents over 160/game. I think DE, OLB and ILB all need attention.

Yes, he would be a DE in a 3-4 system that the Giants currently run. He's a DT in the Eagles' 4-3 system.

No. He was drafted at #15 3 years ago and has 9 td's and 0 1000 yd seasons in 3 years. our 2nd rounder is all I'd even think about giving up. If they want a first too bad, move on to someone else.

When he said no.. we were drafting in the mid teens.. Now we have the 25th pick.. Maybe that changes the dynamic a little?

I have nothing to add on the FA front but the Giants are very engaged in the trade market for WR's and TE's.

Draft wise the only name I've heard thus far is Zay Flowers but its still early on that front.

Schoen's working the phones. Wouldn't be surprised to see a big trade happen.

I am wondering if Evans in TB will become available as well as Davis (Buff), Jeudy (Den), Hopkins ( AZ, already known trade possibility), Waller TE (LV), Davis/Mins (NYJ), Bateman (Balt), Pittman (Indy) and Ayiuk (SF).

Good list. LV is a team to watch. Over the target on Waller.

Gotta be revisting talks with Denver with that deal they just gave out. Wonder if it's still Jeudy tho...as someone said on another thread, Sutton could be a more likely option at this point.

Jeudy... I really think he hasn't fully reached what he could be yet. I also wouldn't mind D-Hop as he is one of the best WRs in the game. He would instantly give us a legit #1 WR and improve our offense more than probably any other player on the market. Now long term no but short term HUGE improvement.
Get it done Joe

trading Jeudy that low would make very little sense - his cap# is 4.8m
Eric on Li : 3/13/2023 2:40 pm : link
next year he would be the 5yo (presumably) at 12.9m.

he was clicking with russell wilson down the stretch (post trade deadline) and as their best/cheapest receiver, why would they trade him for anything other than a really strong return?

he had his 3 best games of the year in the last 5 weeks, each obviously after the deadline.
Exciting stuff - thanks Go Deep!
