people keep saying USA are underdogs this time around. To who? is it pitching because this looks like a pretty awesome lineup (although there are two 1B's - I'm guessing Alonso is DH)

I mean they could have and should have done more to promote the tournament.

but MLB radio has been talking about it non stop every morning.

Hardcore baseball fans are going nuts over the WBC.
The average person - has no clue what the WBC is or that it is even going on.

Which is such a shame, especially with younger kids. Because this is fun, EXCITING, and everything sports SHOULD be. And any sports fan that would get a chance to follow it, would instantly fall in love baseball again.

Yeah, its big. But it is literally the tip of the iceberg it could be. Sadly, the average sports fan is more aware of the NFL Draft in how many weeks? Or NFL Free agency...

I feel like MLB did a better job the first year it happened. Maybe I’m misremembering but it felt like they treated it like a big deal back then. It’s a real shame about the pitching and the politics with players not being able to play for these teams. The US pitching roster looks sorry.

Every game has world series pressure because you can't let up, otherwise your in a major hole.

If I were an owner investing millions into these players, I would put a stipulation into the contract that said player must agree they will not participate in it.
