Jets / Rodgers - Jet seem to have GB over

EJNNJ : 3/12/2023 4:35 pm
a barrel tbh, no other suitors and nobody in GB team or fans seem to want him back, and his contract.. Jets should be dictating terms on this. I still don't think they should do it tbh but if the give is reasonable go for it. I can see some combo of 2 picks of a 1st and 2nd or 1st and 3rd only with anything else conditional.
I don't think the Jets are

If the jets give up real picks they are suckers

Gb should be happy to dump the salary

Rodgers on the Jets is a dream for producers of shows like First Take.
I disagree
Jay on the Island : 3/12/2023 4:49 pm : link
You left out the fact that the Jets have a terrible QB situation with White and Wilson at the moment. With Carr signing with the Saints the Jets will be forced to sign Garoppolo or Tannehill if they can't land Rodgers.
I think its been ten or eleven years

without a playoff birth for the Jets. The president of the Packers seemed to suggest its time for Rodgers to go.

This deal looks like it is going to happen imv.
They could make it conditional picks...
Milton : 3/12/2023 4:52 pm : link
based on Rogers's production and the team's success. They could also give up picks in exchange for the Packers picking up some of the salary.
Las Vegas

I heard this morning that Las Vegas was still in the mix.
Did I miss anything?

Can’t Rodgers think “I’m not going to that team”.? Who the F would choose that trash fanbase?

The Jets could always pivot and go all in on LJax.

Exactly, the Jets hold the cards here, if the price isn’t right make an offer to LJ, rather have LJ than Rogers and his bs for 1yr

This is true.

I don't think the Jets are going to have give up a draft ransom for Rodgers.

No matter what they do, I'm just hoping the Jets remain the Jets and it won't go well for them. *grin*

He could but then other teams would have to be in play that he likes. Green Bay seems ready to move on.

I hear Jets backup is Garappolo

to play for the Jets if the parameters of the deal were set a few days ago, and he still hasn't said yes. I'm sure it has to be humbling for Rodgers that out the 32 teams in the league, only 1 team is interested in signing him, and it's not exactly a team that has been particularly well the majority of the time. Seems like he's waiting for other teams to contact the Packers to talk, tbh.

Green Bay really has not choice but to trade him at this point, it’s an impossible situation for him to return to and puts the Jets in the drivers seat as there are no other suitors.

Agreed. I'd make Green Bay subsidize a portion of AR's salary and would not cough up more than conditional picks, with nothing better than a second.

He’s not retiring, too much money at stake. He’s going to milk this contract 1 more year or he’ll force GB to cut him if which they can’t so GB is fucked

They'll go to the playoffs with Garoppolo, who won't be making what he made in SF, and did go to a SB as the highest paid NFL QB at the time....

NFLN said today there are NO parameters of a trade agreed on. Waiting for Rodgers to say yes to jets and teams will work a deal. Both said have stated what they want to pay/give but no deal is in place
So let me guess the scenario:
Big Blue '56 : 3/13/2023 7:12 am : link
1-He doesn’t sign with the Jets

2-He thinks about retiring

3-He re-ups with GB at 100 mil/year

4-Has MVP regular season

5-Loses in first round of playoffs

6-Negotiates with the Jets in 2024

How’m I doing?

word around the NFL (at the combine) is that GB does NOT want Rodgers back and they're hoping he either retires or agrees to a trade. (They want to move on with Love and their young receivers.)

It also doesn't make sense to me that the Jets would even meet with Rodgers unless the parameters of a trade had already been worked out.

Packers and Rodgers kiss and make up. I don't think he has any intentions of leaving. This is just the dysfunctional relationship they have.

It would be quite funny for me at least to watch my Jets fan friends who were pounding their chest saying when they get Rodgers they are going to win the Superbowl this year go all the way to a complete breakdown. That would be priceless.

I think the Jets have much less risk in this than the GB, if the Jets move on GB is totally fucked unless AR retires. The Jets have alternatives, LJ, JG, even a Sam Darnold reclamation(not crazy).

If AR doesn't work out i think they make an offer to LJ for the fan base, something close to a DWatson contract.
Jets are in such QB hell
PatersonPlank : 3/13/2023 10:08 am : link
Options:
- Sign an over the hill QB for a lot of money, who is there for maybe 1-2 yrs and is only about the money
- Go with the MILF hunter
- Spend every cent they have and mortgage the future on LJax
- Darnold 2.0

Plus their coach is on the hot seat. Its entirely possible they blow a lot of money on Rodgers, they still lose this season, and both Salah and Rodgers and gone this time next year. I love it.
I think the longer this goes

major ??? at starting LT and C protecting the investment.

They should be sitting pretty for a top LT prospect if they hold on to their #1(13).

Ideally their #2 would give them the C, although they should be fine if they can keep #3.

Other than keeping the 2 high picks, they can send their entire draft to GB.
I am just really surprised me wants to come to NY...

The 49ers can't fit him into their cap I suppose?

They'd be dynamite with AR and that roster.
