FAs to target

NYG22 : 3/13/2023 12:07 pm
...in my humble opinion:

WR:

Byron Pringle - The bigger ticket KC WR will be Mecole Hardman. Whether NYG targets him or not, I thing Pringle will be cheap but solid. His experience with Kafka is a plus.

Braxton Berrios

TE - Foster Moreau - I always liked him as a "2 way" TE. Very good, multi-dimensional TE who has always been underused I think.

DL:

Greg Gaines, Tavon Bryan - neither are break the bank guys but both would bolster a thin DL corps.

LB:

Deion Jones, David Long - two guys that bring a speed component to our LB corps that hasn't been seen in a long time. Both are productive.

CB:

Rock Ya-Sin - I have always respected CBs like him. Feisty in run support, solid in coverage. Good size/athleticism. And only 26.

I'd be interested in what guys fellow BBIers want.
Some good names on there

I like Berrios a lot at slot WR/STs, he's got more juice than James. Foster Moreau is the TE to target if they're looking for a complete TE. Another poster has mentioned him before but Justin Watson is another cheap WR from the Chiefs that could be the big bodied deep threat that this team could use.

Hmmm - I don't know him. I'll check him out.
I also like Pringle

As a depth piece much more than Hardman, who is just a fast dude who doesn't run good routes and isn't dependable in his reads.

Pringle is one of those talents that you can see the ability, but really hasn't been in a situation to see a team maximize it. He has some good speed and change of direction skills. Kind of a jack of all trades, master of none when it comes to athletic ability. But the blend of size (6'1", 203 lbs), speed (4.46), and special teams utility (has worked as a gunner and kick returner, with a 26.6 return average and a TD for his career), I think you can do a lot worse.

Another guy I like is Noah Brown of the Cowboys. I think it's going to be interesting to see how the market views him in a weak FA class.

Brown is not a tremendous athlete for the position, he's more of a poor man's Jakobi Meyers, but he understands the position well, and has really good size at 6'2" 222lbs.

I'm not sure he has the separation skills that I believe Schoen values, but he's a good depth receiver that won't hurt you and has some special teams ability as a gunner.

Where the Giants sit right now at the receiver position right now:

Shepard, Wan'Dale, Hodgins, and you have to think Collin Johnson will be in the mix at least through camp, affords them plenty of room to add.

Sills, Pimpleton, Polk, and Mickens should be thought of as nothing more than camp fodder, PS guys.

So to me there's clearly at least three acquisitions that need to be made through FA and the draft, and probably four, with two of them being premium adds expected to make major contributions to the offense, which I expect to be a mix of 1 FA and 1 premium draft pick, with perhaps 2 mid-low draft picks or a guy like a Pringle, or as I mentioned in another thread, Justin Watson (also of KC) to go with a draft pick.

Just to run a hypothetical situation, you could have:

OBJ
Jalin Hyatt (rookie)
Shep
Wan'Dale
Hodgins
Trey Palmer (rookie)
Justin Watson

As a presumptive group going into 2023, and that's a group I feel really good about.

“ Some names I'm watching for Giants as the negotiating window opens: ILBs Germain Pratt, Bobby Okereke, Drue Tranquil; WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Nelson Agholor; TE Irv Smith Jr. and Dan Arnold; DL Hassan Ridgeway, A'Shawn Robinson, Sheldon Rankins”

Said in GoDeep's asshat thread, Agholor has really bad hands. Hard pass. Ridgeway is a fine depth piece. A'Shawn Robinson has been talked about a lot here, not sure I love it because he doesn't offer anything of a pass rush but is a good run-stuffer.

Sheldon Rankins I do like, he would be a really good fit next to Lawrence. Also more of a run-stuffer but is a better penetrator than Robinson. I'm ambivalent about a mid to low-tier TE, but a low cost veteran does make some sense, and Irv Smith and Arnold are fine choices, preference for me would be Smith.

I've always loved Okereke.
