Bears sign former Eagles ILB TJ Edwards to 3-year deal

Anakim : 3/13/2023 12:18 pm
I know there was some interest on here in him
Bummer
No1MDGiantsFan : 3/13/2023 12:18 pm : link
But they are loaded with cap space
I have followed TJ since Wisconsin, he's a good backer
Jim in Forest Hills : 3/13/2023 12:19 pm : link
but not close to a difference maker. I didn't want the Giants to sign him personally.
Serious Q
Breeze_94 : 3/13/2023 12:20 pm : link
Doesn’t this make it kind of obvious they illegally tampered with him?

17 mins to agree to terms?
.

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet

He gets $19.5M over 3 years, source said. $12M guaranteed. A big signing for Chicago, and not the last.
Reasonable deal too
AcesUp : 3/13/2023 12:20 pm : link
3yr 19.5m with 12m guaranteed

Lol, its funny cause obviously they have spoken in some form. But whats the answer to that, create another legal tampering period 3 days prior to this one? Haha
Actually the guy I didn’t want
Payasdaddy : 3/13/2023 12:22 pm : link
Rather Pratt, tranquill, colts guy ( sp?)

Great sign for Giants as they are in on the LB market
nothing precludes teams from talking to agents about prices
Eric on Li : 3/13/2023 12:25 pm : link
for positions. obviously they are talking to those same agents about their own players at various positions. the players know their markets, the teams generally know how they rank/value the tiers.

both sides spent the last 1-2 months thinking about who they want and for the players where they want to go and what price they want.

so while there is some genuine tampering pre-legal tampering, free agency is more like a fast moving auction. bids come in and for players if they hit what they are looking for it's smart to act fast vs waiting for teams to move on and bid elsewhere.
Absolutely
AcesUp : 3/13/2023 12:25 pm : link
Things lined up with the Giants needs there. The top will get the top, so I don't see Edmunds getting too depressed but this is a good sign for that next tier.
I still think
Big Rick in FL : 3/13/2023 12:30 pm : link
We sign Edmunds
Pratt is who I want
Rjanyg : 3/13/2023 12:34 pm : link
should be a little cheaper than Edmunds

JS has very good feel on this player and if Wink says he will be a star in my system I am all for it.
Only an AAV of 6.5 million???
nyjuggernaut2 : 3/13/2023 12:35 pm : link
That’s great news from a Giants perspective, as there were earlier reports of Edwards getting somewhere north of 13 mil annually. ILB Market could be setting up nicely.

I'd like Pratt or Okereke. Wouldn't hate Long either.

thinks the Bears are going to sign Julian Love too.
It begins....

Hope those fuckers lose half their defense

The JS connection is why I think we get him. I feel like GMs & coaches like a guy they know when it comes to calling the defense which Edmunds has done for his entire career.
Edwards still looks to me like the player who went undrafted.
Big Blue Blogger : 3/13/2023 1:25 pm : link
Whether that player should have gone undrafted is another matter. There is value in a solid ILB who makes the right reads and tackles reliably. The same things that kept him from being a special prospect keep him from being a special pro. The Bears seem to know that they’re getting. We’ll see how he fares with less talent around him, on a team with a much smaller margin for error.
