here. Look, I am incredibly neutral on the guy, but the deal is done and now its time to enjoy the rest of the off season and see how he does this year. Can the Giants figure out a way to at least split the series with Philly and Dallas? Maybe they can win the division this year. It's a better time to be a Giants fan and if Jones bombs out then well, we move on in 2-3 years.
I actually think Jones numbers will improve from last year.
An obvious overpay in light of Carr, Geno and Garapollo. No way he gets that contract on the open market. Posters pointing and laughing at Dallas and Cleveland and look at what we are paying. Then add Taylor’s 5 million dead cap so we can’t cut him. Hope Schoen knows what he is doing.
He knew he didn't want carr, geno, or garapolo. Neither did I. Jones was the move. We can move on in 2 years if we need to.

You are just wrong. You have a hard on for Jones and you wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. If Jones hits that market and he gets what the Giants paid. I think the Giants paid market price, no discount. I don't like it, but given all factors, at 25/26 y/o Jones has the most upside of the QBs out there on the market. Might Young, Stroud, Levis and Richardson have a high upside - yes. Yes, it is possible. Difference is Jones has done it in the NFL and actually won(and lost) a playoff game.
But I am talking to the wall.
it is what it is. I don’t know Jones and it’s not my money so could care less. He’s a mediocre qb of little accomplishment. We could have sent him into the market and signed him for a lot less or signed someone as good if not better for less. You don’t give a player $40 million a year because his agents want it or his ego demands it. We paid all the money and then some.
But what’s done is done, and I hope Schoen knows what he’s doing. If he did, great. Won’t bother me a bit. If he didnt’t, we are screwed for 3 years until we can unload the mediocrity. Hopefully Schoen turns us into the Niners in the meantime.

C - Interested about the market for Garrett Bradbury. He’s be a big upgrade of Feliciano. If no to Bradbury, then likely we’ll see Feliciano + a rookie
TE2 - have a feeling Irv Smith may end up a Giant
WR’s - Meyers just signed for 11 apy. Wonder where that puts the value of Chark, Slayton, Campbell and Hardman.
Edge Depth - Justin Houston?
CB2 - Rock Ya Sin? Byron Murphy?
The longer you wait in FA, the more likely you are to get a bargain on these guys if they are still available
You can't invest all this money in him and not help him on the outside. I know it's unpopular, but bring in Beckham on a deal and see what WR is sitting at 25.
Gotta think this is the end of the line or close to it
2 starters hanging out who we know they want back (feliciano, love). are they just waiting to match whatever their best offers are?
obviously receiver depth chart is completely empty so the veteran wr trade rumors out there are interesting and sort of obvious.
the extension discussions with barkley are probably going to soften up as he continues to see other rbs sit out there on the market not getting big deals (or any deals). the same is true of adoree jackson, and probably lw to some degree too even though a lot of DL continue to get paid well.
they gave out 2 aggressive contracts to add 2 players in the front 7 they clearly liked with those markets moving yesterday.
given how the offense runs i think we'll see them target a specific WR in another splashy move as that market starts moving and then some corresponding cap work, probably in the form of a cap lowering extension for someone.

Would think there are multiple options that can be had for the right price and the price will come down the longer no team pays it.
Many teams for 1 reason or another such as cap space, not ready to compete and the WR is getting old, big contract coming up soon will have a guy out there they will be wanting to part with.
Who do we settle on: is it Hopkins? Jeudy? Evans? Or a bit of a surprise like Aiyuk or Pittman....
The only semi-high quality option in FA now is gone. And the price was pretty low for a WR.

I'd really like Schultz on the Giants (depending on the price obviously). I think him and Bellinger would make a really nice Tandem and help sure up the TE position.
Mecole Hardman is a guy they may want. Connection to Kafka, can provide returns on KO and punts, speedy.
It might be to expensive either.
i could see it. i like hardman and my only big knock on him is that if there was upside it probably would have been unlocked with mahomes already. despite his speed he hasnt been able to hit as many big plays as you would think, but he probably doesnt get enough credit for turning himself into a reasonably polished receiver. above average drop rate for his career including the last 2 years, high catch%. would be an upgrade on richie james.

Adding him would be a real downer for me...
One very real disconnect between fans and the reality of that entire situation is the perception that he wasn't dependable or accountable. Not a single Giants player or personnel person aside from the GM which turned the team into a dumpster fire ever implied that he wasn't extremely hardworking or a good teammate. He practiced and player hard and run blocked. People don't like admitting that because it doesn't fit the script.
The Giants have shown interest in him at each of these workouts and if they sign him, it's because he has something to offer.
Aaron Rodgers has provided the NY Jets with a wish-list of free agents he would like them to target and acquire, per sources.
It includes Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis and….Odell Beckham Jr.

how was he a good teammate when he threw his teammates under the bus in the lil wayne interview?
the nyg showed interest in him before the video from the plane got out, and since then despite a major need at wr there hasn't been much connecting them. they sent the wr coach only to his showcase.
i was all for signing him a few months ago but if they sign him after the plane video it will be their first compromise on the type of behavior they've preached. i dont see it given the contract demands and the obvious risks coming off surgery.

Team OBJ are apparently big contract hunting. And there is NFW I would pay him anything remotely close to the apparent ask.
But I have ZERO interest in rekindling this football relationship. I ask the question all of the time - why would you suddenly trust this guy to be dependable, accountable, self-less, etc.

Oof, no way this can end well. They should have made Carr the priority
