Slater: Who might be of interest

WR

Given the relatively weak state of this year’s free agent receiver group, don’t be surprised if Schoen pulls off a trade for a receiver like DeAndre Hopkins (Cardinals), Gabe Davis (Bills), Jerry Jeudy (Broncos), or Allen Robinson (Rams).

CB

These guys are still available: James Bradberry (Eagles), Marcus Peters (Ravens), and Sean Murphy-Bunting (Bucs).

Bradberry played for the Giants from 2020-21. Then they had to cut him for salary cap reasons after the 2021 season, elevating Jackson to the No. 1 corner role. Bradberry thrived with the Eagles in 2022 on a one-year contract.

S

This depends on whether Schoen re-signs Julian Love.

If Schoen loses him, the top remaining safety targets include Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (Eagles), Jordan Poyer (Bills), and Nick Scott (Rams).

LG

But he (Schoen) still has Joshua Ezeudu and Ben Bredeson. So one of those guys could be the Giants’ starting left guard in 2023.

These two are worth monitoring — Evan Brown (Lions) and Isaac Seumalo (Eagles).

C

Depends on whether Schoen re-signs last year’s center, Jon Feliciano.

The Jets’ Connor McGovern remains available. Could he head from Florham Park to East Rutherford?

Byron Murphy and Rock Ya-Sin are also available. Not to mention Moseley (the SF nickel CB) looked good before going down with an ACL. There appears to be a lot of depth there in FA.
Didn't Seumalo sign with the Bears?

Do they go FA at S if they lose Love?
Jim in Forest Hills : 3/14/2023 9:21 am : link
I personally think they want Love back but they asked him to test the market and come back.

But Pinnock is pretty good and cost controlled.

Yup, I’m fine with Pinnock. Look to fortify in the draft
Previous regime liked Ya-Sin in the draft
JonC : 3/14/2023 9:25 am : link
Murphy is still having leg issues, iirc.
Thought McGovern
Sammo85 : 3/14/2023 9:27 am : link
signed with Bills yesterday?
Evan Brown is another they liked in the draft

They have Belton as well.
Yes to Hopkins or Jeudy
eric2425ny : 3/14/2023 9:32 am : link
prefer Jeudy due to him being much younger than Hopkins. No thanks on Gabe Davis or Allen Robinson. Davis disappears from games and Robinson looks cooked. I don’t see the Giants going after Robinson following the Golladay disaster.
Marcus Peters could make sense given the Wink connection.
Strahan91 : 3/14/2023 9:32 am : link
He’s not what he once was but still a starting caliber cb imo. If they do dip their toes in the FA WR market, Odell would be my top choice (depending on the money) or one of Hardman, Chark or Campbell
Allen Robinson is pretty washed at this point
Greg from LI : 3/14/2023 9:33 am : link
Isn't he?
Murphy might get paid
AcesUp : 3/14/2023 9:33 am : link
I'm not sure the Giants need to be shopping in that Jamal Dean 12-15 AAV longterm tier at CB. They should be looking at a replacement for Moreau and then building behind him with a draft pick in a strong and deep CB draft. Peters may work for that. Ya-Sin would make sense too as a guy that could be available cheap because he doesn't really fit many other schemes.
I was thinking of Byron Murphy
AcesUp : 3/14/2023 9:35 am : link
SMB won't be cheap either. I also don't see Bradberry coming here, part of the reason why they didn't get creative in keeping him last year is because he wasn't perceived as a great fit for Wink.

There are two. The one who signed was with the Cowboys

Wonder if Wink does?
Looks like terrible suggestions to me
BillT : 3/14/2023 9:55 am : link
Mostly top of the market types, older vets or big time trades. Just the opposite of what I believe Schoen is doing. No mention at all of another DL which I think is still a top priority but he mentions LG where, as he says, we have players Lazy analysis.

Ok - wow I am out of it today. The free agent frenzy has me concussed!
The Bills are looking for a WR
WillieYoung : 3/14/2023 10:09 am : link
They're not trading a cost controlled WR (Davis). The media can't keep themselves from linking every Buffalo Bill to the Giants.
Looks like he threw shit against the wall
ZogZerg : 3/14/2023 10:12 am : link
None of these guys have any clue.

True, but in fairness, we have picked up some Bills
Evan Brown was a

priority UDFA with the Giants. I think SMU. I can't remember exactly what happened but I think he got hurt and then went on the practice squad and someone signed him. I noticed him last year in the Detroit game.

Toth029 : 3/14/2023 10:26 am : link
Bradberry in a pure scheme is risky. He's best when he's in zone.

Do see Giants moving Flott outside and given a real shot at corner.
WR & TE

Are trade areas. Giants have been active. LV is a team to watch especially after signing Meyers.

I heard Waller's name, Renfrow could be on the move too.

There are a bunch of teams “to watch” around this time, but then the season starts for real…😎
I can see Bredeson or Ezuedu
Simms11 : 3/14/2023 11:15 am : link
as the starting LG, but the interior was not good last year and in order to improve the line we have to shore up Center and Guard. Even if Feliciano is brought back, I can see him as depth and the Giants drafting their Center in day 2. RG is currently Glowinski, but he was not good at all in pass pro and should see competition this year too. Maybe the Giants draft another Guard, as well or bring in a Guard in FA to compete. Or maybe the Giants just feel that Glowinski will be better with a better version of Neal and Center next to him too?!

Also and fwiw, last season was Feliciano’s first crack at C. Perhaps year 2 will be more comfortable for him, if he’s retained?

Waller is over 30, and has been injured the last few years? Contract doesn't look GTD anymore. Can be cut with tiny dead cap number.
Stand Firm and Let the Market Evolve
Bernie : 3/14/2023 12:51 pm : link
The Giants signed the only free agent I was interested in yesterday (Okereke). Now let’s see what happens. If Love leaves, the Giants roll with Belton and Pinnock alongside McKinney. The draft and Ezeudu/Bredeson/Lemieux will fill the left guard spot. A trade for Jeudy is all I would consider, but has to be at the right price. Any other signings should be on the cheap and for depth.
Agree that the Bills won't move WR Gabe Davis
Red Dog : 3/14/2023 2:04 pm : link
unless some team GROSSLY over pays for him, and he simply isn't worth over paying for. Too many drops. Has a big game and then disappears for a month.

At the team level, Buffalo is looking to add WR help one way or another, so that's another reason that they won't trade Davis.
