Mid-Round WRs?

lugnut : 3/14/2023 11:12 am
Seems like there’s 2-3 blue-chip WRs (Johnston, JSN, Addison?) we will not get our hands on, then more guys who are just so small it puts me off (plus we already have our mite in Robinson) - of Zay Flowers, Josh Downs, Tank Dell, not one tops 5’9” or 172.

Feel like, if mostly by default, we should be fishing for less heralded guys in Rds 3-5. Curious what thoughts are on some guys closer to 6’0” and 190+ who seem to have produced well, got some accolades/awards, like: Michael Wilson (Stanford, actually listed at 6’2”, 213), Parker Washington (PSU, only 5’10” but could be a tough chunk at 212), Jonathan Mingo (Miss St., 6’3”?), Jalen Mareno-Cropper (Fresno St.), Marvin Mims (Okla), Jayden Reed (Mich St.), Trey Palmer (Nebraska), Rakim Jarrett (Md.). Others you like?

Caveat - I haven’t seen any of these guys play a down, hence my post. The one outlier I might roll the dice on in Rd 1 is Jalin Hyatt, but even he is only 176 and I’ve heard the Tenn offense called so gimmicky that it’s hard to get a real read on players.
I'd be thrilled with Hyatt in the first if he's there. Also be

thrilled to get Marvin Mims, maybe as a dark horse on day 1.

Otherwise, there seems to be plenty of day 2 or day 3 options. Really interested to see where Matt Landers ends up being drafted after combine.
Not to semi-miller this thread, but...

Johnston, JSN and Addison, all have risks, whether it's drops, injury history, poor 40 combine times, etc.

So I predict that one of those top three WRs will make it to 25.

If not, I'd go with Flowers or Hyatt.
A couple of Day-2/Day-3 WRs I like:
Anakim : 3/14/2023 11:29 am : link
WR Tyler Scott - Cincinnati
WR Jayden Reed – Michigan State
WR Andre Iosivas - Princeton
WR A.T. Perry - Wake Forest
WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton – West Virginia
some more
Archer : 3/14/2023 11:52 am : link
Xavier Hutchinson Iowa State 6'-2"
Rakim Jarrett Maryland is 6'
and my super sleeper is
Puka Nacua BYU is 6'-2"
He was outstanding at the Senior Bowl.

I'd love Hyatt at 25.

His college highlights show him catching the ball with his hands and his speed looked great. I don't think he's a #1, but I'm not a professional scout either.
I’d jump at taking Tillman
Eman11 : 3/14/2023 12:06 pm : link
In rd 2. Go BPA rd 1 and if Tillman is there in rd 2, he’d be a great pick. Would grab Mingo if he’s there in rd 4.

Tyler Scott is a beast. He would be my pick if we didn't go WR at 25 and somehow made it to 57.
Marvin Mims
gogiants : 3/14/2023 12:08 pm : link
maybe round 2 or 3.
Given the amount of draft picks, where

they've gone in free agency so far, I can see the Giants taking 3 WR's in this draft.

I don't think his combine was as good as people would have liked so I am now seeing him in Rounds 3 & 4.

right there with you on this list pal...you like Trey Palmer from Nebraska? That's the only player I would add to your list
Dontayvion Wicks could be a good value pick around rd 4

Would not be surprised if we went TE IN the first

Depends on how things shake out.

But best player available may not be a wr.

Also thin Jack Campbell will be in play, just a hunch.

I don't think people are going to lower Scott's grade because his forty time wasn't elite. He was still plenty fast.
Jarrett
GiantTerp : 3/14/2023 1:02 pm : link
I'm biased but Maryland receivers are usually pretty good. Diggs and Moore as recent examples. Jarrett turned down LSU. He may be a real good value in later rounds.
i second the tillman love
GiantsFan84 : 3/14/2023 1:26 pm : link
he'd be a great pick in round 2

Forgot the Landers kid from Arkansas. Very intriguing.
Don’t forget Rashee Rice
