NYG Cap Room After Monday Signings

BH28 : 3/14/2023 11:14 am
Spotrac has the Giants at $14.7M available space after the Nunez-Roches contract details. No details on the Okereke contract, but with 4 year deal and $22M guaranteed potentially looking at around $7M hit year one.

That would leave the Giants with around $7.7M to operate which accounts for top 51, dead money, and rookie pool.

So unless the Giants restructure anyone or decide to backload new FA signing contracts, I'd expect them to be pretty reserved going forward, looking to sign middle and bottom of roster depth for relative cheap contracts.
They get $6.7 Million more tomorrow when they cut Golladay

That's a healthy chunk for another mid/big FA.
You have to assume they will do something

with the Leonard Williams contract soon too.
If they cometo a long term contract

with Barkley, they may pick up some cap room. At least they are not forced to cut someone just for cap space this year.
Also, Schoen mentioned

locking up Dex, which will lower his cap hit this year. Money is not an issue this year.
They can easily free up money

if/when they need to.

Kg, leo, maybe dex and if they need to adoree
If saquon signs a LT deal, probably another few million in cap space too
Would love 2-3 more mid tier signings. Cb, 5T, WR, oline
Anything that frees us up to get BPA matched with need as much as possible in the draft.
Think we definitely grab oline in first 3 rds.
Question please…. I do not speak ‘Cap’ but

when does being under the cap matter ? On a continuous basis or on specific calendar dates thru the year? Example … can you do a signing today that puts you over as long as you get back under by sone later date?

NFL is a hard cap, you can't go over at any time for any reason, throughout the entirety of the year.

Teams showing as "over the cap" in Spotrac or OTC right now aren't actually over the cap at this moment, those sites just show what will happen with their cap on March 15, 4pm when all their player contracts advance to their 2023 value.
I assume they have a Leo restructure ready to go

if/when they decide they need the extra space

Still need to either sign Love or another starter caliber safety I think. But I agree that unless they pull of a big move for a WR, probably no new big ticket guys coming in
I would assume that a starting WR will be signed before the draft

I’m thinking a #2 or 3 type. Considering what we had last season, an upgrade at an affordable number seems more than possible.
Maybe they’ll have a deal for Jeudy or someone else in place in case they don’t get their WR in the first round?
