the second the jets finally got good this year he started bitching about being unhappy because he wasn't getting the ball enough. and he did this without ever proving anything in this league. not the kind of guy i want on my team

I liked him a ton predraft, but I agree that how he handled this past season might be looked at as a red flag. I don’t know the details of the situation though.
He was eating in the SEC as an 18 year old freshman on an Ole Miss team that had DK Metcalf and AJ Brown soaking up targets. He's worth a flyer if the price is right.
None of our WR options are great but complacency and only banking on spiking a high draft pick at WR is a poor plan.
I think Moore could be shopped even if they do cut Davis. Plenty of slot guys in this draft, and free agency has numerous good ones as well.
I think Moore would come cheaper than Jeudy, and I'm a believer in the talent, so this is a trade I would prefer, since he has two full seasons left at 2nd round money.
He could be extended and it likely wouldn't break the bank.
Jeudy is a better player. However the cost in terms of dollars and pick(s), would be much greater. Moore has a cap hit of around $5M the next two seasons total, not all of which would be incurred by the Giants. If I'm understanding it correctly, they would only be responsible for the yearly cash portion, which would be a little over $3M combined for the next two seasons.
Contrast with Jeudy, who will cost $13M on the 5th year option in 2024 alone.
But it's the premium pick that bothers me the most. Rookie deals on really good players is the most valuable commodity in the NFL.
Signing OBJ might cost an extra $10M or so in 2023, but doesn't cost anything in terms of draft picks.
Enough already. How stupid a move that would be. Jeydy is well worth the draft capital and his reasonable salary. Your butt boy wants 20 mil according to reports. Only 2 ACL's, and still people want that guy. Unreal. We did so much winning with him, plus he was great for the Browns. Untesl.

Relax, neither you nor I are in charge. I'm not sure if you know how negotiations work, but typically what you initially ask for is not what you are willing to accept.
If he's healthy, and based on the workout, he is, he's the best free agent receiver on the market by a healthy margin. In terms of winning, he won a Super Bowl, and scored a TD in that Super Bowl (prior to his ACL injury in the first half), moreover, he had 19 catches on 23 targets for 236 yards and a score in the three playoff games preceding the Super Bowl.
He was absolutely a difference-maker for the Rams both down the stretch and in the playoffs that year, and he'd be a massive upgrade to the Giants.
I worry more about his head. In addition to his Jets outbursts, this is the same guy who cost Ole Miss a key victory by getting penalized for a "dog pee" celebration in the end zone. Doesn't scream "smart, tough and dependable" to me.
Moore is good, but I think he's a bit redundant with Robinson.
I'm not that worried about his mouthing off — Wilson was so bad last season, I can't blame him or any Jets receiver for complaining. Receivers are often divas anyway. If they're good enough, you live with it.
I don't know exactly what Daboll, Kafka and Schoen are looking for in their WRs but it seems to me that they have a small WR in Robinson and lack a big WR who can excel at contested catches. Ideally, they'd have WRs who get separation and aren't making a lot of contested catches, and it appears Jones doesn't like to throw "50/50" balls, but it's a problem that there's no good option for DJ when no one is really open, other than to take off an run.
Sometimes the QB has to be able to gamble that his WR can go make a play. We saw it in the playoffs. It makes a big difference when you have a true WR1 that can go get the ball. There's no one like that on the Giants. I don't think Moore is that guy.
The Giants met with him during his free agency tour last winter and they attended his recent workout.
So there appears to be a lot more interest with the Giants than BBI would care to admit, and dismissing it out of hand, given the presumptive top 3 receivers going into next season are Shepard (and we know his injury history), Hodgins (a late round 6 pick), and Wan'Dale Robinson (who may start the year on PUP), seems to be silly.
You may not like him because of some silly controversial TD reception celebration from 5 or 6 years ago, or some other b.s. that it is certainly fair to criticize him for, but if he performs at what he has shown to be capable of, there is no doubt he would be a tremendous value-add to the offense. I'd love to see it.

Boy, Dane, don't know that I agree with the redundancy with WDR part of the post. Getting a big WR who can play on the outside, totally on board and urgent need. But Moore has NFL experience, bit bigger than Wan'Dale and, to my knowledge, has played snaps outside. To my mind, Wan'Dale is a big unknown re what he can add post-surgery. Schoen drafted him, so he's going to get his opportunity, but in terms of adding to the WR group I don't see an addition like Moore to this group as redundant. But I think we're seeing trying not to shop hungry in FA as well as, he professes, in the draft.

I want to be specific. I don't like because the first thing he did after getting the contract he wanted was to give an article where is does not support his QB and acts like he wouldn't mind playing elsewhere. He has proven over and over to desire attention and make it all about him. I hope he never plays for this team again. it will not be worth it. It is not petty or small minded. I am not a fan of his character. Been alive a long time. I do not like people that behave like OBJ and I think he is just as likely to hurt the team as help it.
He's actually a really nice guy fwiw. Treated staff and workers around him incredibly well. (Yea cool story bro...just saying you guys lose your minds over this stuff and at the end of the day, they're just people.)

He didn't say he didn't support his QB. And frankly, the stuff he was saying was THE TRUTH. It was not a smart thing to do, it wasn't something he should've done, it was in bad form, but the criticisms were accurate.
I thought it was below the belt as well, seeing as he had just gotten paid. But it was 5 years ago and I think there's plenty of potential that everyone has simply moved on.

Fair. We'll see what kind of player Robinson is when he comes back.

Thanks for sharing this. I’d rather get younger at WR, but we could do a lot worse than Odell.
They haven't. Rumors right now they are negotiating with him and they are the only ones, likely to lure in Rodgers too
It's not done yet, but there are numerous reports they are working on getting the Lazard deal done.

And yes, I expect the Jets to use Cory Davis and Carl Lawson cuts to create cap room.

He's a good get at the right price but these character concerns are overblown.
