NFT: NHL: Rangers vs caps 7PM LGR!

LawrenceTaylor56 : 3/14/2023 3:17 pm
No Lindgren tonight. Which sucks.

Projected lineups.

Panarin - Zib - Tarasenko
Kreider - Trocheck - Kane
Laf - Chytil - Kakko
Vesey - Goodrow - Motte

Mikkola-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Harpuer-Schneider

Haven't beaten the capitals this year at all. Need to get 2 points here. LGR!

Agreed. Hoping Lindgren makes it back Thursday vs the Pens.

for his cheap shot on Lindgren. And Rangers don't have anybody to give him one. The next game Rangers lost Motte on an even dirtier hit with no repercussions .

This team is uber talented but soft. Caps will run us thru the end boards tonight. Rangers better be prepared to hit.
Just dominate like I know we can

Yes - I thought so live. Not really dirty but he knew Lindgren was extended and ran him anyway. Messier said same thing at break. Rangers need to be ready to play hard tonight.

in pj's post: clear to me he was concussed. To be concussed, the impact doesn't have to be direct-on-head: it requires harsh jarring of the body or head so the brain is thrown against the inside of the skull. No question in my mind and it made his return that much more open to question.
The real cheap shot
Stufftherun : 3/14/2023 5:54 pm : link
was the Watson hit on Motte.

I’m sure this will trigger some (one) but having the time and space to make a different decision when you can clearly see a vulnerable player in a dangerous position was unquestionably uncalled for and dirty!
Rangers need to focus

on playing hard, not looking for revenge. They need to start playing playoff hockey, starting tonight

Oshie hit was a clean Hockey play.
This team is so maddening

4-3 now because of sloppy play
I've never seen a more individually talented team

Turn the puck over. Its got to be neat fucking impossible, being this talented, to turn the puck over as regularly as they do.
When are they going to play a 60 minute game
Rick in Dallas : 3/14/2023 9:36 pm : link

Maddening!!!

I don't get it. Why is Igor "Gramma" and Trocheck was some...other character.

They're characters from a Disney channel show that my kids are obsessed with. My daughter hates watching sports, but she actually watched a period of tonight's game. It was fun as a novelty, I could never watch a whole game like that, but it was cool that my kids were so into it. The technology was a little rough around the edges and glitched some, but pretty amazing what they were able to do with this.

Regarding the game, it was nice to see them come out flying, and while the second half of the game left a lot to be desired, it is a big 2 points. We could be Pittsburgh fans who lost at home in regulation to a Montreal team coming in on a 7 game losing streak (and we have been that team multiple times this season losing to a team like that). Kane looked excellent tonight, Igor had a strong game, and Trocheck may be turning into my favorite player on the team. If only we can get these kids going again, get Lindgren back, and keep Igor on an upward trend, I think we will all feel pretty good going into the playoffs.
I had a parlay
LawrenceTaylor56 : 3/15/2023 7:58 am : link
of Mika and K'Andre Miller to score a goal. $25 would have paid out $946. K'Andre missing that empty net by an inch broke my heart. lol

Great game. Rangers finally turn on the intensity from the opening puck drop. It was refreshing to actually get the games first goal, which I think hasn't happened since pre-covid for the Rangers.

-Kane played his best game as a Ranger.

-Panarin played a better game, with less turnovers.

-Jimmy Vesey, seems like every time he is on the ice he does something special.

-Laf, solid game all around.

-Mika with another 2 goal game.

-Wish there were a way to bring back Tarasenko.

-Still need Lindgren back.

Rangers win. Penguins lose. Bruins lose. Devils lose. Islanders lose. Great night of hockey.
they were primed to gag that game, but Igor back to being Igor
Victor in CT : 3/15/2023 8:26 am : link
kept them in. I'm sick of seeing Panarin pass up open shots in front. Shoot the fucking puck. And as others have said, how about playing 60 mins.

Lindgren needed back desperately.

Oshei hit was not cheap, just unfortunate and he stayed with Lindgren and held him to see if he was ok and said he was sorry it happened. I disagreed with Messier on that.

Watson hit was VERY cheap
LT56 disagree about a great game imv
Rick in Dallas : 3/15/2023 8:39 am : link
Rangers indeed played with intensity for about the he first 25 minutes then the Capitals outplayed them the rest of the game.
Igor did play a good game and indeed they miss Lindgren on defense.
I haven’t seen them play a 60 minute game in quite awhile now.

I agree with this. Oshie is a good two-way player, almost always on the right side of the line, but he definitely plays with an edge.

And the Watson hit was dirty - and let's be clear Watson was ejected - because it was deemed to the head, not because of Motte being defenseless or because of how much time Watson took for the hit. Motte was the last player to touch the puck and it wasn't really late by NHL standards.

The NHL is not the NFL (yet) and being a defenseless recipient of a clean hit is *usually* met with a "pick your head up", but not in this case. It was not a clean hit. Watson deserved his ejection and 5-minute major.

Should he have been suspended? Maybe, I wouldn't argue he shouldn't have been if he had been given a game (especially since Watson has a track record for this kind of hit), but just giving my opinion on what made it a dirty hit.

I thought Watson had the "hat trick" of dirty hit on that play: 1) charging 2) left his feet 3) elbow to the head. That's why I think it was a suspendable play.
Everyone sees
pjcas18 : 3/15/2023 9:53 am : link
something different.

It wasn't charging, Watson was gliding into the hit.

Team is showing some signs of establishing chemistry with all the new players.

Shesty showing signs of being closer to last years Shesty .

Still a ways to go though to start to feel like they are maximizing their talent out there. GG has a few games left to get it ironed out.

could be worse.

It's all about April/May/June anyway. This team just has to get there in one piece and then we see what they can do. I do think any talented team can turn it on when needed, and I don't think i'd be booking any canyon of heroes seating right now if the Rangers were having a Boston or Devils like season, it's all about the late spring. I'd feel better if the Rangers looked tighter or cleaner, but not that much better. Shit gets real soon. Just get there in one piece.

"One piece" is the key. Unlike their New York sports counterparts, the Rangers (so far, no jinx) have been the healthiest team in the league. By a lot.

The below is from the @ManGamesLostNHL twitter account from March 11, so maybe some minor movement from Lindgren. You need to capitalize on that because it won't happen every year.

lol, and you know I need a habs reference in here

If the Montreal Canadiens stopped playing hockey today it would take the New York Rangers 870+ more games to catch them in number of injuries

now you've done it. I fully expect the NYR top 6 to fall into a volcano before April...
