This is a chips in the middle of the table move. The Boys literally can’t afford this. Loving it.
Dallas can't afford this move? Nonsense.
Dallas has already retained Pollard, Steele, Wilson, VanderEsch, and now have acquired Gilmore but still have 7 million in cap space after all these moves.
Dallas can release Elliott and Jordan Lewis tomorrow and and gain another 9 million in cap space with more options left to them. Dallas has done a great job so far.
Gilmore is not a "all in move". He is merely a place holder till Dallas finds the future starter. Dallas lost CBs Brown and Lewis to injury last year. This ended up revealing that Daron Bland could replace Lewis but Dallas failed to find a replacement for Brown. I thought Dallas would draft a CB with their 1st round pick but this may change that.
Dallas will now sit out the first wave in free agency and sign more bridge free agents at a discounted price. After this they will see where the roster stands and attack the needs in the draft. Standard MO for Dallas.
They have $198mm committed against the cap in 2024
For 31 players. Absent restructuring, they can barely sign their rookies this season.
Look, I know predicting Cowboys cap hell the last decade has been an exercise in futility. But they are running up against real cap constraints and have a bunch of very good young players coming to the end of their rookie contracts.
Acquiring an old CB due $10mm. That’s: Hold on to your balls, McNally.
Dallas has 45 players under contract in 2024 with 192 million in liabilities.
The beauty is next year the new TV deal kicks in and I've seen where the cap could be as high as 256 million.
Only the fans care about the cap. All teams know that if they really want a player they could work the cap to accommodate any move.
Look at New Orleans, they had the worst cap number this year but still landed a top QB and resigned last years starting QB. They probably will be favored to win the division this year.

Anything is possible. The cap is flexible.
Producer returns. Fuck off
I don't know who Producer is, but it's not me.
Stop assuming so you don't make an ass of yourself.

This isn’t Producer. Fanatic is a Cowboys fan who isn’t welcome on their boards and only is interested in telling us how great the Cowboys are.

Mike, I post on Dallas boards along with, NY, Philadelphia, and Washington. It's great to see what the other division fans are saying about Dallas. The more opinions the better.
I try to give information and facts about Dallas. What they are doing, why they are doing it and so on.
I believe the only thing I have said giving Dallas props was that they will probably be in the mix for the division, and the way this off season is going they will probably be the favorites. And of course they will make the playoffs and be a contender in the NFC.
If that's telling you how great Dallas is, so be it.
Good move by Dallas
Good move by Dallas
You mean he did last year. 33 is the age CB's fall off a cliff.
They can extend him for reasonable money if he’s playing well
That's a nice deal
I thought Dallas would go CB in the 1st round this may change that.

More like $10MM, I think, though they might get a small credit against some LTBE incentives if he gets hurt or benched.
