Wouldn't either mean giving up @ least our second rounder? In which case, I'm a no.
I’ll take either of those WR’s for a late second any day. Especially Jeudy, he’s 23 years old. Has a $2.3M cap hit in 2023 and a $12M 5th year option in 2024.

A little weary of giving up that 2nd round pick. The value is pretty good since many draft guys say the value through the 2nd round is about the same as in round 1 after the top 15 players.

The Giants have been so bad the last few years that we have gotten used to them picking these high second round picks, that are essentially first rounders. A late second is a different story. If they give up a second they still have 9 picks, including their first and actual third round pick since the Waller trade was the Chiefs 3rd rounder.
to trading for Jeudy, Hopkins, Sutton, Aiyuk, etc. There won't be a draft if we keep trading away draft picks for players. We'd also likely be paying a premium price for any WR because teams know we are desperate, even after trading for Waller. This draft is loaded with WRs. It's up to our scouts to find a few that can contribute right away.

What is lunacy is to expect a late second round pick to be as good as the WRs being talked about. WR draft picks have a 38.9% bust rate of WRs drafted in the first 4 rounds. Not to mention the odds of them being as good as either of those two WRs is extremely low.

We traded the comp pick in 3rd.
For those saying we can get a younger play with more control. The thing is you don’t KNOW what you’re getting.
Jeudy has NFL film, we have way more of an idea what he is vs a rookie who could be better but could be worse way worse
The Giants are a #1 WR away from having a very dangerous offense.
Look what's around Jones now:
Barkley out of the backfield
Waller & Bellinger at TE providing security blankets
Hodgins outside
Shepard & Robinson in the slot
All guys (aside from Waller, who seems like a QB's best friend) DJ already has good chemistry with.
You put a #1 WR in the mix, let Hodgins be the outlet #2 on the opposite side - you've got something. Is it OBJ? Hopkins? Jeudy? Draft pick? We'll see - but I expect them to complete the puzzle.
Would rather have the receiver Schoen is going to draft

There’s a reason Jones only threw 15 TD’s last year. A 3rd or 4th round receiver isn’t fixing that right away. Hell, even first rounders often take several games to get going.
He's better than any of the WRs coming out this year and also better than most players we could draft in the late 2nd.
I think that some BBIers prioritize having fun making selections on draft day over actually building a better team.
Here's a list of the 57th pick in previous drafts:

I loved him when he was here, but OBJ is at least 2 tiers lower than both of those WRs. I'd only take him on a highly incentive-based deal.
Giants apparently tried to trade for Jeudy but Denver wanted too much, so whether you want him or not, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Same for Sutton in all likelihood.

Thanks for looking this up Jim. This is what I am saying. I am not a fan of trading picks, especially first rounders, but once you start shifting to late second round territory the odds of landing an immediate starter with upside drop significantly. I get the hesitation on trading a second for Hopkins. But for Jeudy, who is 23 and cost controlled for two years it’s a no brainer.

Jeudy’s contract increases to $13mm in 2024. The cost control is a big part of the equation here.
Shep & Wan'Dale are coming back from serious injuries. Let's remember that.
Wandale would be a nice offset to Waller. Waller a hecka good red zone target. Hodgins would be getting single coverage. With his route running and decent size, should work well.

Take a cheaper, likely better weapon in the first. Use the second on either line. That’s a no brainer. Jeudy isnt that good, not worth a second and only has two years left on the cheap.

Most believe that the top 3 WRs will be gone by pick 25. The chances of getting a "better weapon" than Jeudy at 25 are slim.
And if you looked at the three WR chosen at pick 57 in 2019-2021... Jeudy has more receptions and more yards than all of them combined.
Plus Daboll knows Jeudy from his days as the OC at Alabama. So if Daboll wants Jeudy, then so do I.
Likely a moot point anyway. Giants won't give up their #1 and Denver probably won't trade him for a #2.
RE: Jeudy hasn't had a 1000 yard season in 3 years
Despite having a LOT of balls thrown his way. Even taking the drops out of the equation his catch % is poor.
To be fair to Jeudy he did have Drew Lock, Brett Rypien, Jeff Driskel & Teddy Bridgewater throwing to him for like 2/3 of his career. He had a "good" QB once and that guy looked like complete shit. Also had shitty HCs and OCs.
Clearly not a lot of people have watched the games and are just going by stats. He gets separation- exactly what Schoen detailed we want, and all the smoke shows how much.
He's better than any of the WRs coming out this year and also better than most players we could draft in the late 2nd.
Jeudy is certainly a proven NFL player who appears to be ascending, so that is definitely a plus for making the case for a trade. Despite Wilson having an off year, he was still the best QB that Jeudy has played with in the NFL since he was drafted three years ago.
So, while I may like a lot of receivers in this draft, it really means nothing until they actually prove it in the NFL.
silly to not want to give up a second for Jeudy. The odds that are a late second round pick will be as good as him is pretty low. And even if that pick will be as good as Jeudy it won't be for 2-4 years in all likelihood.
They had to do something but this takes the pressure off. They can add a cheaper vet WR and build through the draft now. Sutton ultimately costing a Day 3 pick but the economics get tricky with Waller commanding WR2 money now. I think Schoen made a smart pivot in the trade market and we're done there.
A young guy like Jeudy, I'm okay with. Overall, I'm not too interested in seeing us sign any new UFA additions.
This is getting tiring, but what injuries?
Honest question. Let’s forget any injury stuff for now. Why on earth would we assume his $19(?) mil per year at his age?
Good question, it's definitely not ideal, but.......First off, we can absord 19M for a year and then 15M for next year if we want mostly because you aren't tied to him at all. There is no dead money attached. that being said, I'd prefer to extend him and lower his cap number. Below average FA WR's are going for 10-12M per.
Hopkins is a bonafide WR1 who is top 5 at his position. His catch radius is insane and he's an amazing route runner. He doesn't look like he lost anything as he's still in his prime. He hasn't been riddled with injuries, although he's gotten dinged up more now than before which is a little concerning.
The Giants have a lot of draft capital and hit rates after the first round are mucho pequito so it's worth it considering the other options at the position. I think he's worth a 2, but it's possible we can play hardball and get him for less although I find that hard to believe.
What does that mean? He's 30, going to be 31. He hasn't shown signs of slowing down. Hopkins has a good 3-5 years left of being a valuable asset to a good team, IMO.

Not sold on Hopkins at this point in time, but you make cogent points

Amazes me how no one wants to consider who the QBs were throwing the ball to him. But we love to say Jones doesn't have the WRs to throw to. Well, which is it? QB or WR fault? If the belief in Jones is there, get him someone to throw the ball to and both players will become better.
As far as his catch % goes, there's an all pro that people on this site want to trade for that had similar, if not worse numbers his first 4 years in the league...DeAndre Hopkins.
I’ll take either of those WR’s for a late second any day. Especially Jeudy, he’s 23 years old. Has a $2.3M cap hit in 2023 and a $12M 5th year option in 2024.

To be fair to Jeudy he did have Drew Lock, Brett Rypien, Jeff Driskel & Teddy Bridgewater throwing to him for like 2/3 of his career. He had a "good" QB once and that guy looked like complete shit. Also had shitty HCs and OCs.
we tried that, he got kicked off the plane
Jeudy is certainly a proven NFL player who appears to be ascending, so that is definitely a plus for making the case for a trade. Despite Wilson having an off year, he was still the best QB that Jeudy has played with in the NFL since he was drafted three years ago.
So, while I may like a lot of receivers in this draft, it really means nothing until they actually prove it in the NFL.
Nail the draft and develop Neal. A full training camp for Hodgins and hopefully Robinson is back fully healthy by October.
That takes out Hopkins, Sutton, Evans etc. unless they plan on restructuring their contracts
A young guy like Jeudy, I'm okay with. Overall, I'm not too interested in seeing us sign any new UFA additions.
his age
one more year of low salary, (then re-negotiate a cap friendly extension)
Daboll's familiarity with him.
Otherwise, use the draft.

This is getting tiring, but what injuries?
My hope is that Shep stays healthy enough to play slot until Robinson is ready.

Not sold on Hopkins at this point in time, but you make cogent points

Despite having a LOT of balls thrown his way. Even taking the drops out of the equation his catch % is poor.
