Did a mock draft on PFN after acquiring Okereke and Nunez-Roches and the trade with the Raiders for TE Darren Waller and here's how things went down. First off, the big-time corners were drafted by pick 20 (the last was Witherspoon by the Seahawks) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba went to the Packers at 15.
So where's who I went with, no trades (and I was sorely tempted):
1) Pick 25: DE Lukas Van Ness, Iowa
2) Pick 57: CB Deonte Banks, Maryland
3) Pick 89: C Joe Tippmann, Wisconson
4) Pick 128: RB Chase Brown, Illinois
5) Pick 160: WR Andrei Iosivas, Princeton
5) Pick 172: FB Hunter Luepke, North Dakota State
6) Pick 209: DT Karl Brooks, Bowling Green
7) Pick 240: QB Tyson Bagent, Shepard
7) Pick 243: LB Mikel Jones, Syracuse
7) Pick 254: P Michael Turk, Oklahoma
Thoughts?
Luepke is a great story and hope he gets drafted, personally I don’t see the giants drafting a FB, especially not in the 5th. If he’s there at 254 then take a flyer sure
I like the first two picks without knowing what else was available so no gripes there.
Other than that , meh.
Other than that , meh.
With the punter, I was hoping for competition with Gillan.

You get a UDFA punter for competition that he will lose anyway. Better of with a DT or LB.

Adam Korsak, the Rutgers punter is really good. He's like another Feagles. If he's still available in Round 6 or 7 I wouldn't mind picking him

If Korsak was on the list of draftees I would have picked him.

Vikings got him two picks before.
Now that we're down to 10 picks left, I want at least two WRs and I wouldn't mind three. And we need a top shelf receiver early. Iosivas is intriguing, but he needs a lot of work to jump from Princeton to NFL starter and should be a late pick if he's still there. He will be a project, which is a nice luxury if you already have a legitimate WR1, 2, 3, slot, etc., and can afford to stash him and coach him up.
WR, CB, or stud DT or OG in the first and second rounds, then start plugging holes like C, ILB, or one of the up and comer TEs. That's what I think.
PFF, PFN, and nflmockdraftdatabase, sims are all over the place with their rankings.
Very hard to do a realistic mock with any of them.
2) Pick 57: ER Will McDonald IV - Iowa State
3) Pick 89: ILB Noah Sewell - Oregon
4) Pick 128: C Jarrett Patterson - Notre Dame
5) Pick 160: RB Roschon Johnson - Texas
5) Pick 172: DE Cam Young - Mississippi State
6) Pick 209: QB Clayton Tune, Houston
25. WR Flowers - wanted Addison, but he was gone
57. C Tippman - was hoping Brents would make it, but C is a huge need
89. CB Garrett Williams - prob would've gone top 50 w/o the ACL injury. Highest ranked player.
128. DL Moro Ojomo - has good upside as a 5T
161. EDGE Diaby - explosive. Doubt he actually makes it this late into the draft. EDGE is an underrated need - nothing behind Azeez/KT
208. LT Asim Richards - need a developmental swing tackle. Richards was the highest ranked player
217. LB Aubrey Miller - highest ranked player. could develop into a starting LB. At the very least, a good STer
241. WR Jalen Wayne - brings upside as a true outside guy. Giants met with him at combine.
244. CB Rejzohn Wright - can never have enough corners. Could upgrade back of roster (Williams/McCloud) with more upside, legnth and athleticism.
253. S Brandon Hill - projects as a depth S who can contribute on ST's. Tested very well at combine. Brings speed to the secondary.

is going to be great, but we are set with Thidodeaux and Ojulari on the left and right. No where to play him unless we cut Ojulari and Ojulari is actually a great edge rusher if he comes back in full health. Not to mention, this draft is loaded to the brim with quality edge rushers.
Ojulari has trouble staying healthy and will be a free agent in two years. If there's an ER worthy of the pick, it gives them a three man rotation, and insurance against time missed to injury.
Van Ness would be much better than Ojulari against the run and could possibly move inside on obvious passing situations to rotate with Dex and Williams. 5 pass rushers is better than 4.

You hit the nail on the head as to why I went with Van Ness. Ojulari's a good pass rusher but not great against the run; teams ran at him a lot when he was on the field.
57) Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia
86) Rashee Rice, WR, SMU
128) Joe Tippmann, C, Wisconsin
160) Riley Moss, CB, Iowa
172) Rakim Jarrett, WR, Maryland
209) Jake Haener, QB, Fresno State
240) Jalen Redmond, DT, Oklahoma
243) Yasir Abdullah, LB, Louisville
254) Sidy Sow, OG, Eastern Michigan

What I like about Luepke is his versatility; he's a power runner but can also line up as a tight end and catch balls downfield. Reminds me of Kyle Juszczyk.

You need to consider what the Giants have at that position from last year s draft, guys that got injured.
From what I ve read they are very high on a few of them
To be fair, outside of the Chase Brown pick I would say each of the names listed prior to the 5th Round WR would be BPA. This team has A LOT of needs and filling each one through the draft would be impossible. Some position is going to fall to Round 5 just because there are not enough picks to fill everything.

Will you still feel this way if they re-sign Love and Feliciano? Because I think they will (or at least I give it a better than 50% chance of happening). That being said, it is a good year for center and safety prospects.
If Tippmann fell to Round 4 I still probably take him because he is a great value there. Technically BPA according to PFN in Round 1 was Bijan Robinson but I could not bring myself to do that. If we did re-sign Love the player that really intrigues me in Round 1 if the WR/DB are off the board is North Dakota State OL Cody Mauch. He will have to move inside to OG, but I just love the way he plays the game.
Personally, I love the first 3 picks, I know everyone wants a receiver early, as I do, but you can't force it. If the draft fell that way, I feel like I'm getting 3 impact starters in the first 3 rounds, and if you do that, you're winning.
Getting a starting caliber DE and corner, coupled with what the Giants already added with Okereke and Nunez-Roches as a rotational DL, you start to see the makings of a championship-caliber defense.
And Tippman in the third I think is a great value as a projected starter in the middle of the OL.
You can live with a receiver group with a free agency add that has a hopefully healthy Shep, Wan'Dale, and Hodgins, and of course you have to look at Waller as more of a receiver, and that goes a long way, because you're going to be able to run more two-TE sets with him and Bellinger.
I'd love a JSN or Hyatt in that mix, but if you don't get that premium WR draft pick, it's perfectly fine with adding to the defense in this fashion that can really solidify that side of the ball.
The only thing I have to say about the mock, like most mocks, the values are a little wonky, for example, I don't think Banks is going to last until our pick in the 2nd. 4.35 40 with length and his production, that's a strong cover corner that I think will go in the top 50 very easily, and would not be surprised at all to see him go in the first round.
We don't have a DE on the roster unless Ward re-signs, and he's one-dimensional.

Which simulator did you use? Patterson almost never makes it to pick 100 in PFN (to give an example).
