the table? Such a deep draft at that position, and if upgrading the wide receiver position doesn't fall the way they want, would having a stable full of hopefully quality tight ends make a difference?
I don't think we need to look at one before Round 6 or 7 or ideally just bring in a few as UDFA and may the best person win the TE3 spot. I am just not a fan of 3 TE packages because with Barkley on the field you only have 1 WR which limits the amount of plays you can run as defenses can basically double the lone WR and crash the box with the rest. This is even more of an issue if Hodgins is your lone WR because he is not a deep threat at all.
I want the Giants to target a Bellinger type in the draft. A good blocker with above average athleticism. A guy who didn't produce too much in college because of poor QB play or because he was underutilized in the offense.
a player down the board like a Payne Durham or Zack Kuntz. Who knows? It would be nice to have another TE in the fold.
Kuntz is one I can see going on day 2, he looks like a really good player. There are a lot tho, and I do like the idea of putting 3 quality tight ends on the field who can all be a threat in the passing game.
it should be - cager was a nice story but he's at best 1 dimensional
and honestly his 1 dimension is pretty average at best. if there's another guy they like in the bellinger mold on day 3 it's an obvious pick since that's a strong position group. Will Mallory would be a really nice fit as 3rd TE.
Like others said, not until Day 3 though. However, there are plenty of quality Day 3 TEs out there, depends on what they want. You could grab a developmental receiving TE to hedge/develop behind Waller or focus on a blocking TE for your 13 looks. I'm hoping the Giants draft into the strength of the draft and take a CB, RB and TE at different points.
Not for me - I'm happy with Waller, Bellinger, and some 3rd
It's a deep class. If the value is there Day 3, go for it. With Bellinger and a healthy Waller, plus a kid kike Cager who they appear to like, they look strong at the position, but there's nothing wrong with getting stronger.
I think it's still on the table if the value is there, but probably no earlier than the 5th round.
I think this team likes Cager as well, so there's room to add one guy, I think it makes sense to hedge for injury, but like has been said, it won't be a priority add with Waller, Bellinger, and Cager.
Improve the team. If need matches value pull the string. They took Bellinger in Rd 4. I don't think they'd go Rd 1 or 2, but anything later wouldn't surprise me.
They've had crap and JAGs at that position for so long (until Bellinger). And currently, whoever's TE3 is still a JAG.
Both Waller and Bellinger have injury histories. You're only "all set" there until you aren't. The Giants need weapons. And in a year where the WRs aren't the ideal, why not?
As to where in the draft? Hey, it's still BPA in the war room whether you guys like that or not. IF they're stuck in a slot and they CAN'T move out of it, and the TE is clearly the BPA, they're going to take him.
But yes, one would hope that if that's at 25, they could trade back.
The way his contract has been described for all intents & purposes it is a 1 year deal. Nothing is guaranteed after this year. So it wouldn't surprise me if the value is there in the 3rd round or later Schoen takes a TE.
Our TE’s, QB, RB. Need some OL help and really need Wr’s. On D is where the draft depth of 1-2 corners, a safety, and other LB. With getting stronger on DL. Still work to be done.
I’m starting to see CB come into focus at #25 honestly.

Waller can play the slot and outside.
I trust that Dabol will know how to utilize talent.
Remember when the Patriots had (3) TE formations.
That can catch a couple passes a game. Love the idea of running 3 TE sets, here and there.

Keep Cager or find a free agent/UDFA for the third spot.
We have bigger fish to fry.

And they will draft an LB.
Though they may also add young, smart , dependable through further FA as well.
we have six picks rds 5-7
good area for TE, RB, maybe punter (some reason extended gillen though)
