The Reggie Bar is returning more than 40 years after it was discontinued.

The chocolate, caramel and peanut candy bar came out in 1978, the year after Reggie Jackson became Mr. October. The New York Yankees debuted the candy at their home opener where Jackson hit a homer, and fans threw the bars onto the field in celebration...

I'm not a Yankee fan either, but I liked Reggie and I liked the bar.

I absolutely loved the Reggie Bar when I was a kid. Of course, I also loved the McRib so obviously my taste buds weren’t fully developed at that point. Can’t wait to try it again though

And made my own while back. They used to be called bun bars, and I found recipe for them online.

The one's I made, I wound up eating most of them.
I never understood the bashing of this

I loved the Reg-gie bar and loved the brief return of it when he was inducted in the HoF.

They are similar but not the same. The $100,000 bar is now called the 100 grand bar.

Bring back the Reggie!
Fun (?) Fact

Reggie wanted to have a bar because Babe Ruth had the Baby Ruth bar. But the candy company claimed Baby Ruth wasn't named after Babe Ruth.

They were probably lying.

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
Although the name of the candy bar sounds like the name of the famous baseball player Babe Ruth, the Curtiss Candy Company traditionally claimed that it was named after President Grover Cleveland's daughter, Ruth Cleveland. The candy maker, located on the same street as Wrigley Field, named the bar "Baby Ruth" in 1921, as Babe Ruth's fame was on the rise, 24 years after Cleveland had left the White House, and 17 years after his daughter, Ruth, had died. The company did not negotiate an endorsement deal with Ruth, and many saw the company's story about the origin of the name to be a devious way to avoid having to pay the baseball player any royalties. In a patent appeal, Curtiss successfully shut down a rival bar that was approved by, and named for, Ruth, on the grounds that the names were too similar.
So, how exactly do we get them?
Matt M. : 3/15/2023 2:55 pm : link
The first article only mentioned some small general store and the 2nd article I didn't read fully, but it's some couple in WA. You can't just pick up a single bar from them. Plus, did they get the process right? And they have all the rights for the same packaging?
My favorite all time candy bar!

Look forward to see if it holds up. Will I still love it?

From what I understand, Reggie is in on this as well and, it’s going to be authentic (albeit with some minor differences one would assume; it’s been discontinued since 1981). There was an article in Newsweek that’s behind a paywall but, I believe it is quoted in the article from NJ.com saying that people are requesting them by email and, they’re shipping them.

Thanks. I guess this can't be an impulse buy.

was at that game as a little kid.
Same packaging?
pjcas18 : 3/15/2023 7:45 pm : link
if it's not the same packaging it's not the same thing.

Reggie was my favorite player until I was 8 or 9 and became a Mets fan.

I ate a lot of these.

They must have found a bunch leftover from when the fans tossed them

I’m not sure. But, since Reggie is involved, I’m assuming so.
I mean, he is still Reggie Jackson.
