There's no doubt that he's going to have major issues with the NY media the moment something goes south.

He has such a thin skin. He gets so insulted by everything. NY is NOT the right market for him. Playing in the middle of nowhere for his whole career shielded him from what he's about to go through. If they don't win right away, this will blow up.
I heard on the Sirius NFL channel
Southern Man : 3/15/2023 1:40 pm : link
that Green Bay was looking for a couple of firsts. That's kind of crazy considering Rodgers' salary and age. I think the Jets would do better working out something with Lamar.

the Giants tend to do well when they fly under the radar and the Jets become the back page circus. Let Schoen and Daboll keep building the team that they like for an extended run and have the Jets hot shot an attempt at a playoff run to get bounced in the 2nd round and see Rodgers retire.
Some people need to step away for a bit

Still pissed that Packers drafted Love in 2020 without consulting with him. Get over it dude. It’s a business where you Rodgers have made boat loads of money.

If he's a "drama queen", he's got every right to be.

Works out for the Packers as they can move Love right into the starting role with those young receivers and those running backs.

Just look at the responses here. No one seems to care that apparently all the reports about him demanding players is false. He said he told Adam schefter to “delete my number” because anything he says is going to be twisted.

IMO the league needs more Rodgers’ not less. No one but the players are held accountable is sports and he thinks that’s bullshit. I agree.

I like how Rodgers tries to be a misunderstood intellect - may he is . . .

a couple years at Cal without graduating after a Juco year is more "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey" then a modern Day Ezra Pound

Who am I to judge, just a Joe Schmoe poster on BBI

That makes me laugh. Back to back MVP's in 20-21 and last year was a down year for Rodgers at 3600 yards, 26 TD's and 12 INT's. Which is still better than Daniel Jones has had at any point in his career and we just paid him top 10 money. That's not a shot at DJ. Just facts.

It's an easy comp on a player we are all very familiar with.
I have no problem with him being different than most NFL players
OBJ_AllDay : 3/15/2023 2:17 pm : link
in his mindset or topics he is interested in. But he is full of it too. 90% on his way to retirement? I think we all know that was never the case. On no planet was he going to leave 50+ mil on the table and have to share his HOF spotlight with Tom Brady. As for the demands - I don't think he demanded anything but those names weren't pulled out of nowhere. I'm sure he made it quite clear he would like those guys added with him - so semantics there. Whatever though. He will get bounced in the playoffs like he always does. I hate the jets and always have. Hope they never win a thing.

Maggot Brain : 3/15/2023 2:19 pm : link
about all the huge wins Rodgers has had in the post season. He's 12-10 in the playoffs and has lost a couple of home NFC championship games. He gagged again last year losing at home in a must win game against the Lions. $50 mill a year and multiple draft picks for Rodgers? The Jets will be set back another five years with this dumbass move.
Rodgers
Archer : 3/15/2023 2:19 pm : link
Were you impressed with Rodgers when he played the Giants in England ? He does not seem to be the player he was. I saw a significant decline last year.

He missed a lot of open receivers and was harried by the rush.

Rodgers injured his hand on the last play of the game so there were no excuses.

If the Jets don't improve their O-line I fear that it could be a long season for fans.
The media circus makes for fun conversation
DieHard : 3/15/2023 2:20 pm : link
but I'll be very curious to see what the Jets end up surrendering (and being forced to take onto their roster) to accommodate Rodgers. Maybe this will result in a playoff berth, but I can't see this being good for them in the long run. Classic Jets, mortgaging the future for an uncertain today.

After the Giants owning the "clown show" label for a few years, I'm glad it's back to Gang Green where it rightfully belongs.
Seems like a lot of nervous fans here

Santonio Holmes, Chris Johnson, Ladanian Tomlinson, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Leveon Bell... the list goes on an on of all the flashy names the jets have brought in over the years who were on the downside of their career or flat out washed. Inept franchise.

He said he was 90% leaning toward retirement when he went into his darkness retreat. Doesn't seem like he's thinking about a long second act to his NFL career — more like a short curtain call. The Jets can't count on him for more than one season. So they probably have around 18 months to either fix Zach Wilson or find someone to groom as Rodgers' replacement.

In the meantime, it should be a fun season for the Jets and their fans — if Rodgers stays healthy. They'll probably be on TV a lot.
No hatred for the Jets or Rodgers
bceagle05 : 3/15/2023 2:34 pm : link
but I tend to root against them purely for the entertainment value of meltdowns from the Jets homers in the media - Tierney, Roberts, Benigno in particular. Gonna be hilarious if/when this goes south. Also, Bart "Can't Wait!" Scott gets all arrogant to, only to look like a complete fool over and over again (how's Becton vs. Andrew Thomas going?).

Nervous fans? When have the Jets ever made the right decision at QB? They are going to trade a large package for Rodgers who turns 40 next season and is coming off his worst season at age 39 but yea he is going to be prime Aaron Rodgers when he puts on a Jets uniform. The Jets are a very good team but they are going all in for a championship this season but they still have huge holes at LT, RT, and C and will have to figure out how to plug those holes without a 1st round pick that they will be sending to GB for Rodgers.

That’s not leverage. This is a mutually agreed upon separation. He is absolutely the type of Packers back out of their word, who will force their hand and proceed to tear the team apart and get LaFleur fired if they try and make him the backup to Love. They are also in self inflicted cap situation because of this. Green Bay goes hardo on Rodgers, good luck getting any player to stay there or sign as a free agent in near future.

Who cares.

Only people impacted by "distractions" are the fans and talkies. None of this shit matters. If the JEts are 10-5 with Rodgers he can walk up to the podium butt ass naked every day and the Jets would still be 10-5 and Rodgers would still be playing the next game. If they are 5-10 Rodgers could announce he cured fucking cancer and he'd still take questions about why the JEts suck so bad.

It's all noise. Winning is all that matters. See the 1977-1987 Yankees. OR the 86 MEts. OR the 86 Giants. Or the 2002 Giants--Tiki Strahan public feud was going to destroy the team--they went 10-6 and won 4 straight games in December. 2007 Giants were filled with loud-mouths--they won it all.

The 2018 Giants were squeaky quiet and clean. 2019 was too. They were all fired before 2020.
I will never blame the Jets for going after AR

Rodgers is claiming the Packers are the holdup
GeofromNJ : 3/15/2023 2:47 pm : link
The Pack is apparently asking for more than the Jets are willing to give. If I were the Jets, I would offer one 1st, one 2nd, and one 3rd. Period. If the Pack wants more, a hard pass. If the Pack is also asking for Zach Wilson, now that would be interesting.

I can confidently say that the Packers are not asking for Wilson. The Jets would love to rid themselves of him and his cap hit.

Kmed6000 : 3/15/2023 2:49 pm : link
is a bad trade for the Jets, but they painted themselves into a corner and don't really have a choice. The Packers have what the Jets want/need. This played out perfectly for the packers.

There’s no way the Jets are trading a 1st. This is largely about conditional statuses on the 2024 pick.

I feel like the Jets have to be willing to give up two #1's. The only backup plan is going to be Lamar Jackson and he will cost two #1's. That being said, they can't be greedy. If you try and fuck Rodgers, he could say his knee hurts and fuck the Packers out of 50M and not play. Dangerous game if they go that route.

He explained the names and how that went down, and how it’s always gone down in the interview. And that’s the funny thing, many (not saying you) dont actually listen to what he said. It’s mainly see headline, react to headline, move on to next headline.

As for retirement we will never know but the way he’s approached his own health (and you’d have to listen to the interviews to know) I think he heavily considered it. Just my personal opinion by hearing the conviction in his voice and how he described his concerns with the toll football takes.

So tired of this "Jets are Super Bowl contenders" narrative. They were 7-4 and then lost their last 6 in a row. The GM is good but the coach is pedestrian at best. That division is no cakewalk and the AFC is a beast. QB will be 39 years old and their offensive coordinator got run out of Denver. If the Jets offensive line doesn't play way above expectations, Rodgers better brace for some tough hits. Looking forward to that Jet-Giants game at Met-Life

Yes Rodgers is a weirdo but him on that jets team is going to be really good. Us giants fans are just going to have to accept a jets team that actually might be Super Bowl contenders if everything goes right and they stay healthy

I love this post! Two of those wins were the Cleveland miracle and Pittsburgh-

I’m nervous but you guys are logical

Don't forget, they beat Miami with Skylar Thompson playing QB, Denver with Brett Rypien(who they barely beat, got away with PI on that last play), and Chicago with Siemian as the starter.

Just facts.

And how far did he take that team, with much better talent, in the playoffs? And yeah, 26 and 12 and 3,600 in 17 games is better than the 24 and 12 and 3,000 Jones had in 12 games and 100 fewer passes as a rookie. Of course adding rushing TDs its 27 and 12 for 3700 yards for Rodgers and 26 and 12 and 3300 for Jones, in fewer games with less help. Of course Rodgers had a $28.5 million cap hit compared to Jones' more than $6 million in his rookie year. And let's compare how many times the prima dona threw his teammates under the bus compared to Jones.
IMO the Jets being contenders

only helps the Giants.

The greatest day I have had watching the Giants for the last 10 or 15 years or so happened because Rodgers insisted on throwing from the four TWICE when the Packer run game was averaging at least that many yards all day. Keep being you, Aaron.

is a bad trade for the Jets, but they painted themselves into a corner and don't really have a choice. The Packers have what the Jets want/need. This played out perfectly for the packers.

I don't think this has played out perfectly for anybody. The Packers have a QB on the roster with a $60M liability against the cap and a dead cap hit of $100M. They can wait a bit but they have only one buyer, and only one team that the QB has agreed to go to. And the longer this goes on the more the AR price drops. And they risk totally torpedoing their young QB and the 2023 season. How is this a perfect scenario for the Packers? They do not have significantly more leverage in this scenario than the Jets do. If the Jets pivot, the Packers are screwed.

Dude loves the drama. Feeds off of it. He loves that First Take, PTI, etc. are leading off with him.

I can't stand the man. I hope he falls flat on his face in NY. And with Rodgers...it is Super Bowl or bust for the NYJ in a stacked conference.

I'm thinking Zach Wilson ends up in Green Bay as part of the deal, and he and Love fight it out over the top spot there. Jets GM Rodgers probably doesn't want a young high draft pick QB on the roster.
The Jets seem destined for this to blow up big time
Matt M. : 3/15/2023 9:56 pm : link
They put all their egs in the Rodgers basket, which is one thing. They supposed to be an attractive spot for him because they had the receivers in place and a very good D? But, now he wants to being in 2 of "his" WRs plus OBJ. This will blow up on them big time.

Has one article saying that Green Bay doesn’t need to be in a rush . Aaron Rodgers said he was 90% retiring and because he emerged from his retreat and GB wasn’t totally honest he decided to come to the Jests?

You guys are right. This team got a bit ahead of themselves. And now Rodgers is coming in already half committed.

The obnoxious fans are going to be planning the parade but missing the playoffs is still a possibility.

Also the Jets are trading Zach Wilson? I thought that Rodgers was going to mentor Zach?

I wonder if the attention whore Jets are annoyed the way Rodgers made the announcement or are they just happy a legend actually chose that trash Fireman Ed led fan base.

I couldn't disagree more. 2 months ago, the Packers knew they weren't real contenders. They knew they were paying an old HOF QB $60M as sort of a thank you for your career type of contract. The jets are a "win now" team that has no other options at QB. They cannot go into the season with Zach Wilson as their Qb and everyone knows this. The jets are desperate and if it doesn't get done, there will be a massive uproar in jetsland. In packersland, business as usual. come play in gb or retire. No different than the position they were in 2 months ago.

The fact that every other QB is off the board is excellent for the Packers.
Packers hate it

Rodgers has them by the short hairs. He can hold them hostage and retire.

That must be one group group of executives right now. I imagine them in a room talking shit about what they can do.

The conclusion they will come to is that Rodgers thoroughly defeated them in negotiations and ultimately... It must be mind boggling to deal with someone that could just walk away from 50+ million and still have more money than he can spend.

Dude, just don't care. I used to really not like him. He always had my respect as a player but I do now respect his marching to his own tune as well. Fuck the owners, play where you want. He kinda earned it.
