Needs after first 3 days for fun

Rjanyg : 3/15/2023 2:19 pm
So now that we have re-signed a few of our own players and added: Okereke, Waller and Rakeem Nunez-Roches it appears there are fewer positions likely to be 1st round or day 2 targets.

WR, CB, OL seem to be the positions to be looked at in round 1 with Edge or DL as well.

Who are your favorite targets for day 1 and 2. I'll add mine as the thread progresses.
Assuming Jaxon Smith-Njigba
Jay on the Island : 3/15/2023 2:23 pm : link
and Quenton Johnson are off the board I hope that the Giants land WR Zay Flowers, or DE Lukas Van Ness in round 1.
Van Ness
knowledgetimmons : 3/15/2023 2:32 pm : link
Would be a steal at 25, and I'd be pumped. He looks like the real deal.

Flowers seems like a very good addition even though he may not have the desired height. Seems like a Giant type of player.

Haven't watched Van Ness video but I saw he had a good combine.
DL, ER, another ILB, an outside CB, C...

We ain't done, but we could address these issues in the Draft.
Wr, Corner, IOL

Not a big of a fan of Flowers as others are. I do like Van Ness, though. IDK where Will McDonald IV is projected, but I'm a big fan of his.

Drew Sanders...I go back-and-forth on.
love zay Flower's game but his
big_blue : 3/15/2023 2:38 pm : link
catch rate worries me a bit. he has an abysmal 10.3% drop rate
assuming feliciano is back the 3 biggest are same as day 1 - wr/cb/f7
Eric on Li : 3/15/2023 2:42 pm : link
the great news is there are lots of options still out there and those are the positions that are most appealing in the draft.

i'd prefer to add younger players on shorter prove-it type deals from what's left in FA but calais campbell would be a really nice addition to the front 7.

McDonald looks like a beast. He is my dark horse for pick 25.
One WR that is polarizing is Hyatt
Rjanyg : 3/15/2023 2:47 pm : link
He had a limited route tree but he is pretty fast ( 4.41 ) and seems to have very good hands.

Kinda looks like Devonta Smith in height and weight.

Some have him late 1 others early 2.
I assume we are far from done
gersh : 3/15/2023 2:48 pm : link
FAs are not just for starters - but also depth.
This team could use a few upgrades at the vet minimum to $2-3 mil/year guys.
Fabian Moreau was $1 mil
Schoen knows how to bargain shop

Totally agree. I expect a few more signings. I can see Ward coming back, a CB and a versatile WR. Center is a huge need.

I wonder if McDonald is a tad lighter than what they may be looking for.
I would think that while Edge is always important, that the Giants may be looking at a 5t rather than a 7/9t.

Someone that can get after the passer but also be able to kick inside. I like Van Ness.

Njigba and Flowers would be nice additions.
Need to add an experienced medium price Center in free agency
chick310 : 3/15/2023 2:54 pm : link
and then back that up and draft one next month with an early Day 3 pick to grow into the role. If there is a higher quality Center that makes the "eval grade" then maybe even a Day 2 pick.

Not a need, a must.
Bring the heat
GoBigBlue16to56 : 3/15/2023 2:59 pm : link
How about Keion White 6’6” 285 DE/edge from Georgia Tech - as we found out in SB 42 and 46 you can never have too many quality pass rushers.

from a math standpoint it's pretty easy at the moment:

64 players under contract
10 draft picks
= 16 openings (love and feliciano back = 14 open slots)

so there are probably 5-10 vets left to sign.
then 5-10 UDFA slots to fit in (or knock some guys off the bottom of roster).

i think him, van ness, nolan smith, murphy are all in play. maybe even bresee/klancey. a 3rd pass rusher is 100% a major need with how many injuries ojulari had last year. there was a huge dropoff from him to ward/ximines.
whether it's FA or the draft, the Giants ABSOLUTELY MUST get

a real C.
Just did a PFF mock
Rjanyg : 3/15/2023 3:15 pm : link
1. Flowers WR BC
2. Tippmann C Wisc
3. Hodges-Tomlinson CB TCU
4. McGuire ER Mizzou

Not bad

If Bresee dropped to 25, he'd be an awesome compliment as an interior pass rusher and potential replacement for Leo down the road.

cb/wr/Iol one more front 7 uy ILB or OLB (no depth ellerson smith might be a dud)

think we still plug another starter hole in FA
Mine are
Earl the goat : 3/15/2023 5:32 pm : link
Ocyrus Torrance in first round
And trade up for John Michael Schmidt in second round

Fix the Oline once and for all

Keep your 160 million dollar QB upright and healthy

And add the road grading possibilities with Torrance and Neal

I think Hyatt was expected to run the 40 better than that at the combine. I'm guessing that his stock will fall.
Josh Downs has a contested catch rate of 72%, drop rate 3%.
CT Charlie : 3/15/2023 5:54 pm : link
Zay Flowers has a contested catch rate of 50%, drop rate 10%.
