Solder, while a terrible signing, at least tried. He was dealing with a terribly sick child and a declining skill set.
For my money, Golladay never put in the effort. And to prove my point, I'll direct you to the game this past season where he dropped two incredibly easy catches on crossing patterns that my son would have caught in stride.
Cautionary tale. I'm not implying anything, but If I'm a new reciever coming to the NY Giants, no way in hell am I even going to consider, for a nano-second, trying to show up Daniel Jones.
There is either no reason for the way things worked out the way they did. Or there was.
The miniscule remote unlikely potential for the latter being the case, and everything that might possibly imply, however ridiculous, would scare the shit out of me were I an incoming pass catcher for NY. I'd be calling him "Mr. Jones", and "Sir".
Both damaged goods, is that good business (after getting burned by Golladay - another fractured player who never regained his Detroit Lions form), is that something to celebrate (just sayin) ?

buddy. Hopefully, someday, the whole story will come out
Would love to hear the real story of him and Kadarius Toney one day.
Him and toney got together and decided they were too cool for school and weren't going to catch danny's balls because he wasn't the type of QB they wanted and maybe the Giants would be forced to get another QB, one they wanted. Jones spited them back and would never throw either of them the ball, except when they weren't expecting it to make THEM look bad.
Jones won, they lost. Now you known the real story. Next.

The Waller trade is nothing like Golladay. Very low risk financially.

If we assume someone on Giants staff worked KG out before signing, and his movement skills were as expected, DG's only sin was not being clairvoyant. Total cheap outs based on lack of performance are rare to nonexistent in NFL contracts.
Now if we trusted, and DID NOT VERIFY, that indicates an incompetent personnel dept with perhaps too trusting a relationship with sports representation.

The point is - SHIT HAPPENS.
Sorry, I’m not willing to be that forgiving. KG missed significant time in 2 of his 4 years with the Lions. It’s one thing to sign the guy, but that contract was ridiculous, and yes, that’s DG’s fault.
1 year missed time = rookie year - happens alot
4 year missed time = COVID year - lots of organizations and players messed up
But does not follow pre-determined narrative and rant. I am not a DG fan, but unless a lack of routine due diligence, this stuff happens if risks are taken.

There was some reporting that Gettleman overrode warnings from the medical staff. Also his 2020 missed games were due to a serious hip injury, it had nothing to do with Covid.
Well that would be risk taking that went against the house
he literally ended up on the injury report for his hip after like 2 games w/ nyg. i doubt hss made a mistake so id imagine in their desperation they took a risk they shouldnt have just like the toney pick.

On Friday morning, Golladay went to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan for a physical exam, presumably including an MRI on his hip. That was a big area of concern for the Giants since a hip flexor injury cost him the final nine games of last season. When that was over, he returned to the Meadowlands for several meetings, including with Gettleman and Judge.
was with the Giants at the time of the signing but he was with Detroit when they drafted him. Patricia and the GM were fired before the signing. All three worked with Judge in NE for several years so all insights were available.
Just a very unfortunate signing and pretty much damaged goods from the start.
O'Brien was one of the first to go from the Schoen purge of the front office.

say if it was a post June 1st? I know they were thinking they wouldn't do that so curious if they did or not.

Nice thank you!

Like he never should have been signed.
Hip injury. DG went all in on a supposedly 50/50 WR to help DJ.
It's right up there with Albert Haynesworthless.

Here’s the thread.

Sean- I wish you’d been the GM instead of DG. Slater would be great on this team.
Gatorade Dunk - time to reevaluate the “cap is lifting all boats” theme.
And JonC’s prescience is amazing. His post on this thread literally made me shake me head like I was seeing things.

this is the thread I meant to respond too. Having trouble today lol
Also everyone should click this link, its pretty entertaining and painfull lol
He seems like a fine guy. I blame Gettleman for everything on this one.
