I have been tracking the available NFL running backs. Thru tonight (March 15), below is what we know so far for number of years and average value per year:
Player Years Avg Per Year
Miles Sanders 4 ?
David Montgomery 3 $6 million
Jamaal Williams 3 $4 million
Samaje Perine 2 $3.75 million
Jeff Wilson 2 $3 million

Justice Hill 2 $2.25 million
Travis Homer 2 $2.25 million
Boston Scott 1 $2 million
Mike Boone 2 $1.55 million
Matt Brieda 1 $1.40 million
Rashad Penny 1 $1.375 million
Miles Gaskin 1 ?

Franchise Tagged
Saquon Barkley 1 $10.1 million
Josh Jones 1 $10.1 million
Tony Pollard 1 $10.1 million
Unsigned starting RB's
Ezekiel Elliot
D'Onta Foreman
Devin Singletary
Kareem Hunt
Damien Harris
Worth noting that to date, only Sanders has received a 4 year contract (which is what Barkley wants).
According to Ryan Dunleavy (appearing on Valentine's podcast), he said that last week the Giants raised their bye week offer and increased it to offer Barkley a 3 year contract totaling $39 million. That was turned down and Dunleavy added that since then, negotiations have stopped.
Clearly Barkley's camp now sees in the past 48 hours the real market value for backs. My guess is they are waiting and hoping that Josh Jones or Tony Pollard will negotiate long term deals with their teams and they can use those to further their negotiations.
And its become very clear that the April draft class for running backs is extremely strong.
It will be interesting to see what happens next.

The Miles Sanders deal with the #Panthers is for $25 million over four years, per sources.

so 6 mil a year for 1,350 yards and 11 TDs of production. Not a bad deal at all for Carolina.
The Giants are negotiating in good faith.
We'd obviously have to see details, but that would definitely be a ding against Schoen if the contract was close to that amount.

Pay Saquon 13 mil per year. I officially lose faith in this new regime. There is no reason to do so.

I can give him more than sanders but seriously wouldn’t do 3 yrs 39 right now. Unless yr 3 an out that doesn’t do a ton of harm
If it’s 3 yrs, I am lower that offer by 10% just because I like him
Yep, he'd be fortunate to get 4 and 40 now, but perhaps guarantee most of it.
Unfortunately for SB, RB is a whole lot more replaceable than the QB: see the RB shuffle in FAs since noon today.
He might be worth 1-2M more than the tag, even 3 more if he could route run catch like CMcC.
