BeckShepEli : 3/15/2023 10:48 pm
Per the Beats on Twitter. Seems to be getting a new deal.

Fletcher Cox and now Slay playing for less $$ than they would likely get elsewhere.
This is why I never take the posts seriously

about the Eagles being in cap hell. They still somehow find a way to keep the majority of the guys they want to keep every single time.
Not really surprised
bwitz : 3/15/2023 10:55 pm : link
I despise Roseman b/c he’s a whiny prick but, he’s no dummy. He sold them on the fact that they have an open window to win a ring now and still need them.

Eagles are not in cap hell because they don't make catastrophic decisions like Nate Solder and Kenny Golladay.
Wow..
prdave73 : 3/15/2023 11:40 pm : link
man I hate that Eagles. It's amazing how the cap never fazes them. Damn Shady team..

Maybe but they are going to be tight cap wise when Hurts gets his new deal, Smith his, their Oline guys their new deals..

I am glad they are keeping a bunch- beat them straight up..

They’re going to lose 5-6 defensive starters still
Justlurking : 3/15/2023 11:56 pm : link
Guys. And CGJ was the one they wanted back the most. This likely means he’s gone. I’ll take it.

Amazing what a competent front office can do for you.
Always laugh at the “Eagles are in trouble posts”

They’ve had only two bottomed out seasons since 2000. Always relevant.
Meh, I didn't think he was actually that good last year
Andy in Halifax : 3/16/2023 6:15 am : link
Declining player, it'll be fun to hear them this year.
The other thing
Justlurking : 3/16/2023 7:32 am : link
Is look at the ages of the players they are re-signing vs the players leaving

Slay 32, Bradberry 30, Graham 36, Cox 33, Kelce 36

Vs players walking

Semaulo, Dillard, white, Epps - 27
CGJ 25, sanders - 25
Edwards 26

Sorry but that’s not a long term strategy for success.
Their window is now

Agree, but they just could not sign their top five tacklers from last year. That’s a Defense that already had issues. Then they re-signed four players on defence who were showing signs of decline (finally). And they just lost their offensive and defensive coordinators I am already looking forward to taking the over in every game they play next year.
They are in cap hell
Rudy5757 : 3/16/2023 8:10 am : link
The guys they are signing are very old for NFL standards. Some were being phased out last season and some of these guys will be on the books for 5 years.

Slay was not playing well at the end of last season. He is in decline and really should be a role player. These guys still think they are a Super Bowl team but the truth is if Purdy doesn’t get hurt the 49ers win that game. Now the 49ers signed their best DT away.

They are not going to be the dominate team they were last year and will most likely implode. They will be paying Kelce for the next 6 years. All of their veteran depth is gone. I would bet the Eagles are going to struggle to make the playoffs next season.
Fuck him…
Chris in Philly : 3/16/2023 8:14 am : link
Kenny Golloday scored on him. He’s losing a step.

I’d venture to guess they win the division. And I’m sure they’d sacrifice cap hell for another shot at the Super Bowl. It’s the Eagles - we all hate them and want them to implode, but no matter how hard we wish it on them it won’t make it any more realistic.

Never fazes them? Have you not been paying attention this offseason? They’ve lost a lot of really good players
Great news,

They are chasing rings. Not uncommon with players on the wrong side of 30. But if it doesn't work, the team is left with a bunch of declining players on the wrong side of 30 under contract.
They are never in cap hell
NoPeanutz : 3/16/2023 10:05 am : link
because they can always trade their aging, moldy, broken-down overhyped shit for multiple first round picks to bad teams. It's nothing about the contracts. It's about having compromising pictures of other NFL owners.
Injuries
GeoMan999 : 3/16/2023 10:41 am : link
They have taken a hit with losing players, but they have replacements mostly lined up. But the changes will have an impact, and they are getting older.

Thee bigger thing will be injuries. We have been one of the most injured teams last year, while they were one of the least injured. So will this continue?

Yes. iirc Phila took 22 healthy starters deep into the season. Week 12 or 13 I believe.
Unfortunately the Eagles have all those draft picks

The details of Slays extension
Jay on the Island : 3/16/2023 9:29 pm : link
The Philadelphia Eagles and star cornerback Darius Slay agreed to a $42 million extension that includes $23 million fully guaranteed, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.

That means they pushed more of his dead money into future years and added more guaranteed money on top of that. The Eagles are going to be a cap mess next offseason.
