He was being talked about as the #1 non QB to be drafted. Then he had the speeding/wreckless driving incident resulting in multiple deaths. And now this.
Carter only participated in position drills and opted not to take part in any other portion of the pro day workout — including the 40-yard dash, cone drills and other physical tests. He was 9 lbs heavier than he was at the combine.
This guy is going to drop. He had one job... to be in shape for his Pro Day.
Carter Pro Day - (
New Window )
We don’t know how much that accident has messed with him mentally.
2 of his friends died in that accident

It absolutely has to have affected his head. Not sure of the legal implications, but he is in some serious trouble being involved in a fatal crash while racing on a street with possible alcohol involvement. How could he not be affected?

Agreed ... but I'd hope he is not a person that goes into chill/party mode when adversatity hits and then has to ramp back up. Will be hard to stay in shape which will mean roller coaster output. He is young though so there is time/room to get healthier coping tools and what-not.

Eagles will definitely take him at 10 and he will terrorize us for the next 12 years

Just amazing he wasn’t in shape for his pro day but in shape this kid is very good.

**THIS**
Unfortunately, the Eagles seem to be the team there to take advantage every time other teams blink. I don't like that Carter lied to the police and scouts about the drag racing that night at all, but it seems like folks are going to have to look past what has happened here and determine if the risk is worth the potential reward.
I agree the incident/charges seem damn serious though.

Did you watch the workout clips? He looked sloppy and easily winded

What about the real possibility of him going to prison?
Maybe, but being out of shape on the most important job interview of your life is a red flag. By itself, maybe you can overlook it, but combined with his DUI, teams will rightly have character concerns.
Right now he has done everything wrong a person in his position could do. At a time where he should be hyper focused on putting his best impression out there he does the opposite.
It won't crush his draft status, but it will drop him some. Teams can't afford to make mistakes on draft picks like this (ie off the field issues and poor showings leading up to the draft) with how much they need quality- younger- cheaper options on their roster while they can control that wage scale. If you swing and miss- Baker and Apple come to mind right off, it really hurts your roster and cap (since you need to acquire talent at that same position again).

I’ll be optimistic (for once) — some guys redeem themselves of bad showings. Remember Orlando Brown’s famously horrific “performance” at the Combine? Weak, slooow, man-boobs a-floppin’? He’s a 4-time Pro Bowler and SB champ. If Carter’s legal problems are indeed behind him, maybe he gets his head on straight and trains now.

And didn't one of their big FA DT's just sign with someone else? Some sort of cruel dark evil fate is working in the Eagle's favor.
Not sure some of you realize these guys can gain and lose that within 48 hours easily

I think it has more to do with an overall concern given what happened recently...and him knowing that he had a pro day coming up,and he really wasnt in shape or very sharp for it...
perhaps its nothing but.....it certainly doesnt help him
QBs and WRs go early, and Will Anderson, and he gets to 7/8, and Philthy moves up.

Sure. Lose several million dollars? No problem.

That’s a normal meal for lineman at Ruth Chris’s Steak house.
Off the field issues and lack of judgement rarely get better when a kid becomes a millionaire.

It still has to affect him. He lost friends and probably feels some responsibility.....I just hope he gets his head right. Time heals.
