NFT: Rangers/Penguins, 7PM tonight

ShockNRoll : 3/16/2023 11:35 am
Looks like same lineup as Tuesday night, Lindgren remains out but hopefully back soon. Rangers last 2 games have shown some signs of life, between the way they played the 3rd period in Pittsburgh and the first half of the Caps game. Kane is starting to look comfortable, I think some of us may have forgotten just how good he is. I would assume Igor is in tonight. If they win tonight, they really start to nail down the 3 seed in the Metro, with what would be a 10 point lead with 14 games to play. Might create an opportunity for some guys (Fox in particular) to get some rest over the last few weeks of the season.
no rest, just win and get more cohesion
Victor in CT : 3/16/2023 11:48 am : link
winning breeds winning.
Even if the Rangers go .500 the rest of the way
Anakim : 3/16/2023 11:57 am : link
The Islanders and Penguins have to go almost undefeated to catch up to us. Haha

But yeah, beat these fucks. Revenge time.

When I say rest, I mean maybe giving him 16-18 minutes a night instead of 25+, not necessarily games off. Fox in particular, I felt, really wore down in the playoffs, and started making more sloppy plays when he is usually so crisp with his outlet passes and puck control. He made some big plays in the playoffs, but he was not at his best, especially in the Tampa series.
How is Senko playing

He should be a stud out there too....

Starting to find his game. The Panarin-Zibanejad-Tarasenko line was awesome against the Capitals.

nominate a player to score a goal tonight.

I'll parlay first 3 players.

Get the 2 points tonight and really create separation from the WC spot. Not having Lindgren sucks. He's gotta be close.

Hmm. Interesting. Maybe I’ll do a parlay too. Trocheck, Lafreniere, Mika.
How about

Igor getting a goal tonight? Bet you would get a nice payout on that.
Motte injured again after being targeted by Pittsburgh
NYerInMA : 3/16/2023 7:29 pm : link
Petry skated into Motte's elbow and got hurt on an incidental play, so naturally Pittsburgh targets Motte and knocks him out of the game. Total bullshit.

He’s back, thankfully. I’ve never seen a team that loses their heads over legal hits and incidental contact like this Penguins team.

Kreider-Zibby-Tarasenko was such a shit line. But Tarasenko has been great and he works really well playing with Panarin instead of Kreider
that

was a damn good period for us. wish we had scored 2 or 3 but we played well and were clearly the more dangerous team

And right back to a mostly flat 2nd. They should be up by 5 goals. How is it, no matter the names, no matter the year, no matter the moves, players that come to NY forget how to finish? NYR...where goal scorers go to die...
Horrible turnover
NYerInMA : 3/16/2023 8:34 pm : link
Tie game, of course. Rangers never make it easy.
Hey look at that...a turnover leads to an opposing goal...

Motte!

More of a giveaway, but still a great play
One bad turnover deserves another, I guess

good for Motte after Pittsburgh's earlier assassination attempts on him.
Pens are really

Chippy.
We may win third periods but we never hold leads

Krieder again, cleans up the EN

Mess. 30 on the year for him now
Nice win. Motte was awesome for the most part.
Anakim : 3/16/2023 9:41 pm : link
Hard-fought win.
2 goals aside

CK played like a beast tonight!

Loved seeing him dispatch Pepe Letang.

Igor was so solid and Tyler Motte is such a key player. Gotta keep him healthy …as difficult as that’s been.

Fuck the Yinzers!
That was
Servo 2.0 : 3/16/2023 9:42 pm : link
a pretty solid effort. They controlled play for the majority of the game. The ability to roll four solid lines is starting to pay off.
Good effort tonight
Rick in Dallas : 3/16/2023 9:56 pm : link
But way too many giveaways at 24.
Need to clean that up in the defensive end.
Igor playing much better.
Honestly, Jarry stood on his head to keep Penguin’s in the game.
Saturday night will be real interesting.

Team skated better than they have in a looong time.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 3/17/2023 12:53 am : link
Three of the lines were good, especially 20-16-88 and 26-21-14. Tarasenko is playing with a lot of toughness. Motter was excellent all game after returning from the dirty hit.

Unfortunately, their mistakes turn into goals at an alarming rate now.
good win, Igor looking good
Victor in CT : 3/17/2023 8:07 am : link
lines look like they are gelling. I really like Tarasenko's game. He's skilled AND tough. Gritty, sticks his nose in. 4th line looks real good.

THey still don't shoot enough, but hopefully Kane will get bolder as he gets acclimated. He shot have shot it on that 2 on 1 with Kreider.

Pens are self entitled whiners taking the cue from their leader.
Rangers are stringing together some good games
LawrenceTaylor56 : 3/17/2023 8:54 am : link
again.

Tarasenko diving to keep the puck in the zone was my favorite play from last night. You can tell he is starting to finally gel with this team.

Would love to see

Panarin-Tro-Senko
Kreider-Mika-Kane

as the top 2 lines.

Impressive win last night
ShockNRoll : 3/17/2023 8:56 am : link
They definitely look like they are starting to put it together. Kreider’s game last night was the most impressive to me, not even considering his goals. With last night’s game, seems like the worst the Rangers can do is finish 3rd. Devils lost in a shootout to Tampa so did pick up a point, and it is probably unrealistic for the Rangers to catch them for 2nd, but you never know. Regardless, it was an encouraging performance last night.
