Current WR corp- an optimistic fan view

Y28 : 3/16/2023 3:11 pm
The Giants have 3 WRs signed for 2023 that have never played a minute in any Giants game, nor were they Giants when training camp started. They are:

Makai Polk
Kalil Pimpleton
Jaydon Mickens

Will any of them become the Giants # 1? Of course not

But are they all camp fodder, or does Schoen/Daboll/Kafka see some signs of encouragement that fans don't have the ability to see behind the scenes? No reason to not be optimistic

Can one of them excel in camp and be good enough to make the final roster? Certainly possible

Stay positive Giants fans.

I will attach some highlight videos of each of the three.

The new Giants management has kept these 3 unknowns on the roster for a reason. This Giants fan is hoping one of them might show enough to make the Final 53.

I might be crazy but I would rather not see them draft a WR on Day 1 or 2 at this point, given the holes on the roster. Work the line depth and secondary instead. There's a lot of options at the skill positions now.

Obviously it depends on the way the board shakes out. But I like what the Giants have at receiver after signing Campbell, and probably moreso if they retain Slayton as well. It's not a flashy group but there's a lot of skill there.
Those are camp guys

Or practice squanders

1. Hodgins
2. Campbell
3. Robinson
4. Shep
5. Johnson
6. Smith
7. Sills

Is how I’d rank them right now. Smith probably beats out Johnson for a roster spot due to STs. I’m sure they’ll draft 1-2 guys, probably pretty early too.

Kalil is going to make the team and contribute! I'll revisit this post in 8 months...
Said it on the other thread but

The giants aren’t done here

My guess is they added low level and depth pierces feeling good about their chance to strike a deal for Jeudy or Hopkins

Or they feel they may move up in April to get us a #1

Either way my guess is JS isn’t done here and isn’t hitting top of market because he knows he is going to make a move for a 1
Wheres Colin Johnson at

last year they kept 9 WR/TE on the initial 53

slayton/hodgins/campbell/waller/bellinger would be 5.
presumably there's going to be at least 1 draft pick lock as 6.

if there's not another vet of some sort added id guess they draft 2.

so depending on injuries there are probably 2-3 spots for smith, pimpleton, a day 3 rookie, collin johnson, mickens, sills, myarick, polk, miller, cager. would think smith has a leg up with his experience as a gunner.

this assumes shep/wandale are starting on pup, which seems likely given the campbell deal.
What happened to James Washington?

Is he a FA again? I know we had him on our PS late in the season after the Cowboys cut him.
