New #Bears running back D'Onta Foreman (one year, $3 million) also had opportunities with #Bills #Panthers and #Giants per a league source. Former #Texans and @TexasLonghorns Doak Walker award winner parlayed strong season into free agent deal

Breida is a fine backup to #26.

I really like Foreman. I'm surprised he got so little
In name alone he would have been a good fit in our backfield

2020 RB2 - Devonta Freeman
2021 RB2 - Devontae Booker
2023 RB2 - D'Onta Foreman

Certainly on the recommendation

of Jeff Nixon, the Giants new RB coach.

He coached Foreman in Carolina.

good call. foreman has been really solid stepping in for high volume players the last 2 years (henry, cmc).

I don’t think they would pass up a day three value, but with Barkley, Brieda, Brightwell and Corbin I don’t see any urgency.
not like we went hard after him

if he signed a deal for 1 year and 3 mill
Is CHI
pjcas18 : 3/16/2023 9:00 pm : link
planning on Foreman to be RB1 or Herbert RB1?

not that anyone knows, or it really matters but that's not a lot of cap on RB, but what seems like should be good value. I like it.

it's what I would do.

They LOVE Herbert.
They will go for a power back at some point

Fournette makes sense if he can be had for cheap - not sure where his market will be. That is top end.

Latavius Murray and Damien Harris are in the next tier.

Beyond that - the draft is where to go. Several names there and that is where I think they should go

I agree, seems that is a RB type that we need or should have.
Makes you wonder

if JS is trying to work a sign and trade with Barkley.

Why do you think that?

I don't think so, but admit I have had the same thought. Negotiations between the Giants and Barkley have stopped, the two sides are far apart, Barkley almost assuredly doesn't like playing on the tag, and it's pretty clear he won't be here next year. The Giants don't have to take two #1s for him, and can instead trade him for whatever they want.

The contrary arguments are that we have heard no chatter about Barkley being shopped, and trading him would take away one of our main offensive weapons on a team that still has very few.
I think this/their approach on Barkley reflects
Giantfan in skinland : 3/17/2023 10:24 am : link
A realistic appraisal of Barkley, his injury history, potential for decline, and the other guys behind him. Breida and Brightwell are fine to give carries to, but are not bell cow options if Barkley goes down this year (or walks next year). If that's the case, having another option behind Barkley is prudent (all the more so if they're doubling down on designing an offense with him as a central component) both in the short and long term. I VERY much want to see them snag one of the likely mid-round RB options for exactly this reason. By all accounts, it's a great draft to do so.
Gfis, correct imv

Foreman is a punisher, and it wears down a defense which allows more opps for SB to hit a home run.
