injured again than anyone else on our roster not named Shep. This isn't a "hey, anyone can get hurt" situation. This is a guy that had two major knee reconstructions. He will never be the same. Maybe it heals him enough to be able to cut and play, but he will never be the same guy. Its just the way it is.
Bingo!
I have entrusted Schoen with a body of armor. If he signs Odell that would be the first chink in it. I would be pissed

Maybe he won't be the same guy. And he wouldn't even have to be to still be the best receiver on this team. If he averaged 50 yards a game and scored 5 TDs on the year he would've been our most productive receiver from last year.
Time will tell, because someone will sign him, and we can then debate pending his season would he have been worth it.
the knee will be an issue for him for the rest of his career. Whether he can't ever practice or misses games here and there and can never regain form at all, it will be something he needs to maintain for the rest of his career. The chances of him getting hurt again are extremely high, especially when you can't mimic game speed. At the numbers that are being discussed, it would be absolute insanity. Lets the Cowboys deal with that.
have successful comebacks from 2 acls from the searches I've done. If I've missed anyone, I'd be curious...
Casey Hampton-DT -
Thomas Davis LB
Domonique Hixon WR
Hampton is a DT, completely different than a WR as he is more straight ahead than lateral. Thomas Davis was a freak who I believe had 3 ACL's. Hixon played 1 year and then was out of football after.
RG3 who is another player reliant on his knees, never regained form either.
Now coming off a 2nd major surgery. Obviously teams aren't kicking the door down to get him
Good but not great? He had the highest receiving yards per game OF ALL TIME of a player's first 3 seasons. I believe he was in the top 5 ALL TIME in all major receiving categories for a 3 season stretch. He set the record for most receptions EVER in his first 50 games.
What is the definition of "great" to you? PP, come off it, man. He was legitimately great, HISTORICALLY great his first few seasons.

I didn't think you weren't convinced of your position in your earlier post.
I also don't think you can possibly know that for certain, and only time will tell. Of course it's a risk. It's been acknowledged. All I know is the last time he played, that was a damn good receiver.

Frank Gore is who you're missing.
And you mentioned Thomas Davis was a freak. You know, so is OBJ.
between the ears. Odell is just crazy lol. Thomas Davis was a bad mutha effer. You see Odell in that light? Or Odell is just a freak in the sense that he's physically quicker and faster than everyone else? Well, not anymore. So, he'd have to have a freak mentality to come back and he certainly doesn't. Not like Thomas Davis.
I think he's worth the risk for someone. I don't think our situation is that situation.
was able to do after tearing his ACL twice in college. Obviously RB's need to have lateral movement, but Gore was a true north/south runner, but still a good comparison.

Kmed - I respect your disagreement. In terms of Odell being crazy, I wouldn't go that far. I think he has some eccentricities, but I think a portion of BBI has overblown some stuff. All his teammates seem to love him. If someone was that much of a poison pill, I don't think you would find that in terms of those that have shared a locker room with him.
That said, I think he gets really frustrated when the QB play is subpar. The saga with Mayfield wasn't pretty, but was he right? He absolutely was. He was smoking corners and Mayfield couldn't get him the ball.
That may be a little diva-ish, but the frustration is understandable. He wants to win.
In terms of a freak...yeah, I think he's a freak physically. In a lot of ways, not just physique. But here's the shape he was in for his private workout...and this is on his own, after not being with an NFL team since March of 2022:
It certainly seems like he's been working out, re-habbing like a freak. And that is mental fortitude.
And not just a freak for his physique as I said, but the near 33" arms and 10" hands on a 5'10" man is a freak. He can reach more balls, but also, the longer arms give him greater control of his center of gravity and balance. The body physics of OBJ is unique, yes, even freak-like.
Finally, when you say he's worth the risk for someone, but not the Giants, who else do you mean? You're comfortable with a WR group of Shep, Hodgins, Campbell, and Wan'Dale? Now I like some of these guys, but come on, who is the team that could benefit more from a healthy OBJ than the NY Giants? Because I have no idea who that team is.

It would be a real disappointment if we bring this jackass back.

Was a good teammate but reportedly difficult to manage. That's an OBJ and a HC problem. Don't recall him being disruptive as a Ram.
