Julian Love’s replacement in the draft=

shocktheworld : 3/17/2023 1:55 pm
Jartavius Martin from Illinois is going to be a fantastic chess piece ♟️ for the NFL.

He’s versatile I’m coverage (can play the slot, boundary corner and S)and is a smart player. I actually think he can be an improvement on Love due to Martin’s AA

I’d love to see us grab him in round 3, him and X would make Wink drool with the possibilities that tandem would provide him.

Pinnock and Belton aren’t the same type of player… this kid can legitimately play CB… so Imagine the flexibility he gives Defensive coaches/schemes…. Maybe he isn’t as big as Pinnock, but Wink wants his safeties to be fluid amongst their responsibilities as a tandem. Love and X were simpatico last year, but neither Belton or Pinnock can create the same mismatched as a player like Martin, so I disagree with the sentiment they’ll easily fill Loves shoes.
Love was a versatile player (CB at ND) and a damn good safety…I’m sorry to see him go

He is rising up draft boards… but we may get lucky and have a shot at him in Round 4…Rd 5 in a dream scenerio.

Pinnock and Belton are both good options, and if we can add Martin, I feel really good about our safety spot going into the near future
I dont get it

Keep Slayton and Shep and lose Love for 2/12mm. why?
Good luck

I miss the FA days of signing Solder and Golladay.

Posted in the Slayton thread but meant to post here. Branch in round 1?
I don’t think Belton played well at all.
cosmicj : 3/17/2023 2:44 pm : link
Not sure why anyone has confidence in him.
They met with the Penn State kid...I think at the Combine.

At the time, I wondered if Safety would be a higher draft priority than we might have initially thought. I guess we'll find out.
I would take Brian Branch in round 1 but I doubt he gets by

see it pretty much the same way, cosmicj, not especially fast, not a particularly good tackler or with pop, and he often appeared lost in the secondary, which you kind of expect for a rookie. I just didn't see the necessary tools. Imo he and Wan'Dale were the poorest picks of the litter, with Evan a big TBD.
Thinking about the versatility and skill set of Love, I think that

Holmes may see some time there, at least during training camp. If the Giants re-sign most of last year’s safeties, Holmes to safety may not happen but I think it deserves a look.

Keep in mind that our 2/12 is worth less than Seattle's 2/12. There's no state tax in Washington.

Because you're not the GM. Make sense?
If he's a leader within the team he's on...
Fishmanjim57 : 3/17/2023 8:48 pm : link
I bet JS & BB will target him as their choice in the draft. They like players who are leaders.
Everyone seems to forget Love’s play before last season.
gersh : 3/17/2023 8:52 pm : link
He was not a starting level DB. Last year he proved to be a solid starter (aka average). It would have been nice to have him back, but he will not be so difficult to replace.
A situation to watch is Kevin Byard could get cut from Tenn
Tom in NY : 3/17/2023 9:34 pm : link
He's got a $14M cap hit this season and has refused a pay cut.

That would be a nice upgrade over Love/Belton/Pinnock.
