but he will never be outworked.
Looks like he practicing a lot more off script throws, even a little side-arm action. Dude's got a rocket too, never got the "average arm strength" comments. Link - ( New Window )
physically, this guy is everything you want in a QB. He's big, strong, fast, has a super arm. If he continues to "get it", look out. I really hope we get him a true weapon on the outside.
not only is he bigger physically, his arm has gotten noticeably stronger.
No one will outwork him. 2nd year, same system, same coaches, first time that will be true for him, there's a REALLY good chance he takes a major leap. That's what Schoen and Daboll are hoping for- thus the contract he's getting.
pocket traffic is a lot quicker than we've been used to seeing. Never got the arm thing either. Of course, in the tweet, he's not facing actual obliteration from a 270 lb DE so he can step up harder, more leverage on the throws.
After the first interception he threw and Daboll got in his face about it, Daniel seemed to calm down. He had played his entire career before Daboll waiting for the HC to throw him the keys to the car. Dab's threw the keys to him and he didn't let the team down, even though they had a make-shift crew for the air game.
I'm actually really glad he received the contract extension, so that side of his career is set. I also love the way his contract is structured into incentives for accomplishments. By setting the contract that way, he'll always be playing for advancements rather than get stale.
He's our franchise QB, and I'm glad about that fact. Now it time for him to silence the doubters and haters, especially from those within the division!
Is going to pass for well over 4,000 yards, I will say between 4,200 and 4,500, he will throw for about 30 TD's. When he does thus and the Giants make the playoffs again, them what is everyone going to knock? I will be in heaven the day this team kicks the shit out of Dallas and the Eagles. That is coming too.
When he's needed to, he can fire passes in to receivers
is why DJ will stick in the league and develop into a top QB (barring injury). People just don't understand the amount of effort he puts into his job. Yes, other QBs train in the offseason as well. But I'm willing to bet that hardly anyone trains harder than he does. There were/are definitely better QBs coming into the league. But I think he will surpass almost all of them.
Give me an employee who comes in with average skills but with a desire to learn rather than one who is skilled but checks out as soon as he's done. The former will almost always turn out to be the better employee over their respective careers.
I think that the Giants organization understands and appreciates this as well.
And the guy basically sleeps at the Giants facility. He is always there to welcome the new free agents in the videos. The team can't force players to show up. In fact, they aren't even allowed to request it during the offseason under the CBA. He comes in because he wants to. That's how you make an impression on your boss and earn $40MM. You absolutely can improve as a QB with practice provided that you have the tools. The 15 TD people will never understand that.

This too ^
Parris Campbell said he texted him immediately, he was at the building to welcome Waller, always inviting WRs to train with him. If he doesnt succeed it wont be for lack of effort or caring
I'm so happy to see all this praise for DJ. I could never understand the amount of criticism he was getting on this board. I would watch him in games thinking he played pretty well then read the negative comments on this board and I would say to myself, what the hell are they watching. His every move and play was put under a microscope that even the best QBs couldn't survive. Hey, I'm no expert, but just watching this kid play you could see he has a world of talent. The Giants don't go to the playoffs without him this year. There are those here that would say it was SB and I'm not minimizing his contribution. However, I go back to the GB game and remember that 93 yd drive without SB. BD keeps saying he makes good decisions, can make a play with his legs, only 5 picks and can make all the throws. This guy is the goods, his competitiveness, his desire to make the play and his clutch throws all make me think he WILL be a elite QB. Everybody get on board we have a winner here.

Hopefully we're building a better culture than with OBJ, Tate, Toney, Golladay, etc. and DJ has to be a big part.

I think we see what we want to see sometimes. I happen to agree with you, I think Daniel is a special talent
I think a lot of the hate is simply because he went to school at Duke.
The school is polarizing because of its Elitist status and then there’s my favorite trio of Christian, JJ and Grayson... DJ will be top 5 before he’s done.
What's obvious to me is the pros have a very difficult time projecting college QBs to the NFL. The fans have no chance, most can't get past superficial analysis like elite arm strength and joystick run moves.
If you're the decision-maker - know what a big part of the decision is? How is this guy going to behave after I write him a check for millions of dollars? Is he going to damage my brand in public? Is he going to show up to the laundry list of off-field activities the job requires? Hard to say. If you sign a $100M guaranteed contract - you don't even have to get up out of your silk sheets from your dream home with your model wife, Porsche, disposable income and free time calling your name. You can "Kyler Murray" or you can "Daniel Jones".
DJ has what it takes to commit to him longterm, and not worry about some kind of character concern screwing you over. If he's just above average, and not elite, oh well. He's the goods, and that's been the feeling about him since he was drafted. The Giants got it right with DJ.

I thought some of the hate was people still remembering the Dave Brown failure.
Yet there's not 1 on those lists that I'd be ok with Giants trading for 1 on 1. Dak, Cousins, Geno, Goff, Stafford (when in his prime,yes.. but not now) Fields.. come on. Hurts is an incredible athelete and I give the guy credit for his work ethic. the 600+ lbs and all that.. and probably a better QB overall, but Jones is a more accurate passer when giving time, which has not been very often his entire career.

because our love for him pre-draft was telegraphed for years. The whole Cutcliffe connection and the way the Maras were looking for the "next Eli". It felt inevitable and when it happened early than expected at #6, it annoyed me. Felt like classic Giants, looking inside the box as per usual.
But Daniel Jones the person? I have nothing but respect for that man. He clearly handles himself with class and maturity off the field and is a good example for his teammates.
His arm is clearly not "bad", it's above average imo. His physical tools in general are impressive. Even last year, the weak skill potion unit actually made things easier for him in terms of reading the game. Can he adapt to having more weapons? I hope so.
What remains to be seen is if he has the proper processing ability of a true star QB.
We are fortunate and blessed to have him. No drama, no disrespect, no bad mouthing anyone, no desire for attention and adoration…..just hard work and a commitment to excellence.
THANK YOU DANNY DOLLARS FOR WHO YOU ARE!

I saw that and was thinking the exact same thing. Give me Danny.

I assume by "processing ability" you mean decision making. BD keeps saying he makes good decisions. DO we trust the coach?

It can be separated into pre and post snap.
Have to make the decisions quicker post-snap.

100% agree. I noticed his rock solid chiseled body too….his arm strength looks awesome. Did you see that pass to the left sideline? Wow…..
Praying that Neal, Ezeudu, Bredeson, and Glow can do their job and give Danny a bit more time to find receivers.

A lot of Top 10 picks have withered under a bad offensive system and bad pass blocking and never recovered. It's impressive that DJ survived his first three years and still was able to turn it on in Year 4.

Is that taught? Just a habit?
I have seen other QB’s do it…just very pronounced with DJ.
Maybe the quick cuts of the video make it more noticeable
Lol CoD kiddies, grow a pair and play CSGO.
