Bengals T Jonah Williams requests a trade

bwitz : 3/17/2023 3:20 pm
“NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Bengals LT Jonah Williams has requested a trade.

The trade request comes after the Bengals signed LT Orlando Brown in free agency. Williams, a three-year starter, would likely have to move to right tackle if he stays with the Bengals. Trading Williams, who's in the final year of his contract, may be inevitable with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins all needing extensions. Williams would become one of the top tackles available if shopped.”

Should Schoen be interested? This is a guy I wouldn’t mind trading draft capital for.

He wants a trade because he wants to play LT

And get paid like one

Absolutely zero fit here
So, should

we start collecting left tackles like #3 receivers?

Sounds like he doesn't want to move to RT.
How does this make sense?

He's requesting a trade because the Bengals want him to play RT and we are gonna do what? Move Andrew Thomas out of LT? Trade Neal? Explain how he fits in NY.
WTF

😂😂😂
He's been bad at T
Sammo85 : 3/17/2023 3:31 pm : link
And I don't think he can play G effectively enough for teams that need him to be versatile/powerful at point of attack.
Trade for him why?
JonC : 3/17/2023 3:35 pm : link
Giants spent a pair of top 5 picks on their tackles.

Yep, his lack of size and power have been the issue I predicted in the NFL.

He's a G and doesn't realize it.
He has been a major disappointment in the NFL
Jay on the Island : 3/17/2023 3:43 pm : link
There is a reason why the Bengals signed Orlando Brown. It appears that the draft pundits who said that he should move inside were right.
A 7th

or a conditional ‘24 6th.
Never mind

I was thinking he’d move to OG or even RT, but if he insist on OT, a 7th and put him on ST. If he wants to be a Tackle he can learn how to also tackle.
The Pats

might look into him, just a guess?

Hahahaha! Nice one 😝
Such a strange attitude to me

He was there for the turnaround and is building something special in that franchises history. Has come close to a SB with those guys. And while I understand the initial sting...get over yourself man. Somethings gotta give before your QB is bleeding internally. Maybe it's harsh but I'm comfortable calling this a bitch move. I'm sure the money is a factor but I have a hard time not seeing this as soft.

As said above, I kinda get why a guy doesn’t want to move from LT, as it lowers his earnings potential for what’s probably one more free agent deal in his future

But I also agree he’s not nearly good enough to be dictating his status

The league has changed so RT's are valued more highly than ever before. They are also getting paid significant amounts of money. If Jonah Williams was smart he would shut his mouth, show up to camp in great shape, and then have a hell of a season at RT. Teams would line up to give him $16-20 million per season if he did so.

If Guard is his best position he should also move there if the Bengals wanted him to. Thuney received $16 million a year from the Chiefs two years ago.
Selfish player

Hard pass.

Team upgraded his position. And he's unwilling to switch.

Understood as a professional he wants to maximize his value but a dependable team player shifts for the greater good. I mean he could win a 🏆.
