Zack Charbonnet, UCLA .....

Manny in CA : 3/17/2023 3:27 pm

Perfect compliment to Saquon. Plays at 220 but has the body to play at 230+. Can easily be had in the 3rd round.

No need to ever ask Barkley to run 35 times in one game, again.
I don't know if

we're gonna go for a RB Day 1 or 2, and he's not making it to Day 3

Hard pass.
Let me preface this by admitting that I know nothing about CFF.

I don't follow them, I don't even know who this guy is.

That being said, this highlight reel is so unimpressive. All but 1 of those runs had a massive hole for him to dart through. That doesn't happen in the NFL. How can you look at that and try to project what he will do in the NFL?

I think the Giants need to find a bruiser at RB to complement SB. I know guys like Brandon Jacobs don't grow on trees, but someone like that. Someone who can bully a LB or DB.
First 4 minutes of this ...

Think of a mid to late round project like Spears instead.

I love his contact balance and he looks like hits stride as soon as he touches the ball in the backfield
He's an animal

Runs angry.

BJ is one my favorite all time giants. Would love another one just like him but he might just be one of kind. But Im right there with you man on missing the beast.

Here is Miller highlights if you want to check him out, he is more like Bradshaw than jacobs. But every running back is so unique, kendre just seems to have other qualities I love. His legs are always churning.

Thanks very much , Bob ....

For the film clip. It really shows that it's a lot more than brawn (which Charbonnet has plenty of), it's about smarts.

Remember Le'Veon Bell ? He was the master of waiting for not necessarily waiting for any hole to open but for a vital MISTAKE that maximizes the damage that can be inflicted on the defense ....

Here are Zack's stats - In 2022; 1359 yards, 8.7 average. Nothing to sneeze at for a 3rd round pick.

Agree that he's a nice complement to SB.
81_Great_Dane : 3/17/2023 6:40 pm : link
I doubt the Giants will take a RB earlier than the 4th, and I think Charbonnet's draft stock may have risen enough that he goes before the Giants' 4th-round pick.
The Giants just filled their MLB & Recever needs ...
Manny in CA : 3/17/2023 6:53 pm : link

Via free agency. What's left is first a top-tier CB and more help with the "O"-or-"D" lines

If they do that, best running back available in the 3rd round makes sense.
He reminds me of Edgerrin James
Jint Fan in Buc Land : 3/17/2023 10:12 pm : link
He’ll be gone in RD2 and he replaces Barkley after next year at the latest. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Joe Schoen has a sign and trade deal involving 26 in place in case ZC is there at 57.
Charbonnet
allstarjim : 3/17/2023 10:59 pm : link
Reminds me a lot of Kerryon Johnson, a guy I didn't like coming out of Auburn. They physical traits and timed measurables are nearly identical. What I didn't like about Johnson was he ran too tall.

I think ZC is a little more explosive, and a little bit better of a receiver, but the similarities to me are striking, and it's not a compliment.

ZC could end up proving me wrong, his 7.0 ypc his senior year jumps off the page.

I've talked about Eric Gray before, and I like him a lot, but thinking he might go before the Giants would burn a pick on a RB, but I'll talk about another guy I think could be had, and will be interesting to see where he goes, and that's Chase Brown of Illinois.

Really good production, but great balance, only 5'9" but weighed in at 209 lbs at the combine. Ran 4.43 and a 40" vert with 25 reps on the bench. Really a compelling overall physical and athletic profile.

I agree on Miller

he looks like an NFL back to me. Would love to see us land him

Now that was a highlight reel. I know you guys watch these prospects and I only look at the reel, but he doesn't look like Bradshaw to me. Bradshaw seeked contact, Miller runs right around it.

Holy hell is Miller quick and shifty. Looks like he lacks top end speed which is so overrated anyway, IMO. He's plenty fast and his vision looks great.

Where is this kid supposed to be drafted because I am on board!

It sure looked to me like this guy had the same number of wide open gaps to run through Charbonnet got downgraded for having.

I dont agree
Kmed6000 : 3/22/2023 3:39 pm : link
with that assessment. Again though, I know nothing about college football and I'm basing my opinion off of a 3 minute highlight reel. I am by no means suggesting anything other than the highlight reel is pretty useless when trying to project for the NFL.

I did not see the same massive holes for Miller in their highlight reels.

So I wouldn't say he "can easily be had in the 3rd round." Boylhart is a big fan...
Quote:
Zack is a natural athlete with excellent size, strength, and speed to be an impact running back for the team that selects him. He has quick feet to make tacklers miss him at the line of scrimmage. Zack because of his size and overall strength, will break tackles and make yardage after impact better than most running backs in this draft. He does a solid job catching the ball out of the backfield, in check-down situations. Zack is very smart and understands how to set up his blocks making it easy for his offensive lineman. He is a smooth striding, patient runner who can run the ball and make the needed yardage between the tackles and on the outside when everyone in the stadium knows he is getting the ball.
