Mike Gesicki’s contract with the Patriots is one year for just $4.5M. He can earn another $4.5M in incentives. Even with the cap spiking, teams are spending much more conservatively this year it seems.

Because teams can only afford to pay QBs. At some point theres gonna be backlash from the other 99% of the players...

Are you saying Lazard's contract is impacted by this? Because to me, his contract is pretty damn high.
I think he was giving context for Slayton’s deal

My thoughts as well.
That's a lot

for his production.

Numbers similar to Slayton's with a first-ballot HOF QB his entire career.

Lazard is a mediocre receiver
ElitoCanton : 3/17/2023 6:42 pm : link
he seems overpaid to me.
If you canvassed

The majority of football people i think they would take slayton over lazard, not that that is saying much. Especially at these numbers.

I guess I'm in the minority. Lazard is a WR2 minus to me. Big target with some sneaky ability to get deep and he's a tremendous blocker.
Makes me appreciate Schoen

Seeing what he paid for the players he signed

There already is in Dallas IMO. Those guys hate Prescott.
Lazard is 6’5” and 235 lbs

Completely different player than Slayton
Not taking the numbers in the 2 contracts into consideration
JCin332 : 3/18/2023 10:24 am : link
I think Lazard is clearly the better player...

Different players, different size, very similar 4 year stats.

Lazard: 169 receptions 2269 yards
Slayton: 170 receptions 2544 yards
Both Lazard and Slayton
Kmed6000 : 3/18/2023 10:51 am : link
are JAG's, but Lazard is a better JAG than Slayton. Neither will ever be an alpha, IMO. Lazard has had a ton of opportunities with Rodgers in his prime and could never put it together. Slayton clearly has his limitations.

I think Lazard was a big overpay personally, but they did it to appease Arod.
If we paid Lazard that much...
DefenseWins : 3/18/2023 11:17 am : link
this place would have had an epic melt down
Lazard

Is trash. Way overpaid.

My dad's a Packers fan so they have a place in my heart. I also watch them every week on recordings. Lazard sucks. I don't know any pack fan that will miss him. I wouldn't pay him 11M for the entirety of the contract let alone 11M per year.
