Nothing is a lock with this team.
Except for the millions and millions of people who DONT live in the eastern time zone and may enjoy watching a game on a Sunday evening.

Is so utterly unnecessary

It's the weekend in the west too....they can deal with it.
I can just watch it on my phone at work. Nothing better than that.
Awwww
Glorious.
Because the game would then just be over. If you can’t hit free throws with the lead then you deserve to lose.
Hey about the old-fashioned way; play defense; steal the ball; force a turnover. And I hate that line 'if you can't make your FTs ... ' which is just a cliche. I am allowed 30 seconds on the shot clock to take my shot. In what other sport does the defense get to decide when the team with the ball gets to shoot and by committing a foul. The other scenario is what if I want to take a three and the commits a common foul. Now I can't even try a three cause I have to take a couple of FTs.
I suspect that when the rules were drawn up probably upwards of a 100 years ago nobody thought about stuff like that and in the modern nobody no league is likely going to change a rule that makes end games more exciting just to be fair!
The other thing that has changed is since they went to the two-shots for all fouls over the limit, there is much less pressure on the FT shooting team. Back in the day when all common fouls after 7 were one-on-one there was real pressure on the shooter to make the first; now with two shots there is a lot less pressure. Still, its a very unusual sporting situation.

UConn a lock. Like I said before

if you are just running out clock how else is the opponent supposed to take the ball away?

7-9 common fouls is still 1+1.
You follow the tournament religiously and you didn’t know that?!
Final 4. Guarantee it

Did I really have to spell that our you. In the 16 games how many times did you see a guy have to hit the front end of a 1-1 on fouls 7-8-9 in the final two minutes. In fact did you see any! I didn't but I sure as hell saw a lot of players - literally dozens stepping up and shooting two in end game scenarios.
Unfortunately that happened, screwed up my Final Four.
One of my brackets is going pretty well, the other one not so much. Of course I had Kansas and Marquette making it to Final Four, not this year...

Manage your fouls better then. If you are a team that hacks then the opposition is now in the double bonus.
It’s fine that you don’t like the rule but you cant say our responses are cliched when both fouls and free throws are a huge part of the game. And if you got your way you’d just see fouling happening sooner, and more players fouling out earlier in the game since the last minute or so would be effectively dribbling with nothing happening. I’m all ears on a better way to do it but yours isn’t it.
