Ben VanSumeren super sleeper

Archer : 3/21/2023 9:55 am
Michigan State linebacker Ben VanSumeren had an amazing pro day at Michigan State's pro day.

Quote:

VanSumeren, 6-foot-1 and 237 pounds, said scouts clocked him between 4.36 and 4.40 in the 40-yard dash while Michigan State released a time of 4.40, which would have been second among linebackers at the combine.

To put VanSumeren’s numbers in context, his 42½-inch vertical leap would have been four inches higher than any other linebacker posted at this year’s combine and tied for first among all linebackers in results dating back to 2013. His broad jump of 10-foot-11 would have also ranked first this year at his position and his 29 reps in the 225-pound bench press would have tied for first.

VanSumeren is a late bloomer at linebacker. He started his career at the University of Michigan as as tight end.
There is not a lot of video on him but his athleticism makes him an interesting 7th round gamble.

Wonder if he can be a hybrid LB/SS...

Size isn't eveything, right?

is not undersized, not in today's NFL. Especially if he runs a 4.4 forty.

I guess he cannot be a super sleeper. OP will need to let Schoen know about him.
