if there is one you really like. Most can easily be converted to natural gas and the conversion kits are generally around $40. I converted mine, it took about 15 to 20 minutes of my time and it was a simple job.
advice I will give you regardless of propane, pellet, or natural gas is get a hard cover if you plan to leave the griddle outside exposed to the elements.
I at first went with the soft cover and rain soaked through it and rusted the griddle beyond repair.
I did try and restore it through various methods online but there were divots in the top due to the rain, snow, ice that pooled there and it was never the same. The good thing is the griddle is replaceable, but it was a moderately expensive lesson since the griddle costs almost as much as the whole thing did.
hard to say one is better than the other IMO, it's a sheet of iron, lol, but i have had zero issues with the Blackstone and I love cooking on it.
I do have a portable pitboss for camping and that one works well too.

Yes outdoor. I have a natural gas grill and will never go back to propane again. I will add a splitter to run a hose to the griddle.
