Despite the scenes of Elvis tripping on LSD or pummelling various bad guys to death with his bare hands, this series comes with family approval, having been created by Priscilla Presley |

This is a show where hot tubs are blocked by an excess of “monkey spunk”, Elvis’s surrogate mother has a friends-with-benefits situation with William Shatner and jars of Howard Hughes’ piss line the walls of Elvis’ spy plane |
Believe it or not I’ve performed as an Elvis Tribute Artist for a living for the last 6 years. I also have a combo act with an Elton John guy.
Anyway …
I think the animation is good and fun. Using Charles Manson in the first episode was a bit annoying even though they portrayed him as a fool. Scatters - the monkey - is also a bit annoying. However, I can get past all that. As an Elvis fan and performer, I was looking forward to this series. I wanted to get into it.
However …
Matthew McConaughey’s voice overs as Elvis ruin the whole show. He puts absolutely no effort into sounding like Elvis AT ALL. He speaks as himself and it’s so obvious that it’s him that it’s impossible to suspend your disbelief and allow yourself to think it’s Elvis at any time. How Netflix and EPE (Elvis Presley Enterprises) could possibly put so much time into making this animated series and then let MM just voice act as himself without a hint of sounding like Elvis is baffling.
I’ll keep watching but this aspect kills it all. No joke. I WOULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB.
